Someone in the Liberal Party is Lying

In fact EXPORT DEVELOPMENT CANADA which is crown crop does business which is directly responsible for roughly 4% of Canada's GDP.

Point of order....the EDC is indirectly responsible for the 4%...it is their clients who are directly responsible...the EDC is a facilitator, much like a trade mission in an embassy.

"sigh"

Are you suggesting the current banking regulatory regime in place in this country is inherently Socialist?

Because that is an intervention into the free market....

No..I think I made that point twice now.

YOU MEAN THEY ARE A CROWN CORPORATION. Owned by the public, the Government Extended their control to create and fund them with the mandate of acting as a middle man to move goods in and out of the country. SOCIALISM! How dare they extend ownership to that sector of the economy.

Unless I'm mistaken, does'nt mixed economy mean a form of controlled Capitalism, and therefore, regulating private banks would be part of that mixed economy?

You are mistaken. egulation has nothing to do with socialism....the largest capital pool in the world has copious amounts of regulation...some say not enough...there has always been regulation...

Quack Quack

Your problem is that you are dead wrong. The Winnipeg declaration set out to say things like Medicare and EDC serve a purpose which they do, and the CCF wanted to say that. The rest of it they say private ownership is great and should be encouraged. Again you live in 2010 so you have about 70 years of politics to catch up on.

Well,I have no problem with essential services being public.ie water and hydro utilities...

Well that is all we are arguing about essentially, they put that part in their so that could control those things. I find it funny I arguing this with someone who supports a party which bought a huge part in the PRIVATE car companies of Canada. That is another thing the Winnipeg declaration set out as possible with those 4 words he thinks means Socialism.

Conservatives the Socialist party of Canada.

My view is the Tories only give Canadians social programs that help THEM not so much the people. On the whole, this party is for the banks, corporations and that includes oil and gas. They spend money without thinking as we all know and when it comes to the rules of government they always try to change them or dodge them. The one thing about the NDP is, by listening to Layton in the Commons, he has the "average" Canadians at heart, more so right now than the Libs and the Tories. I don't know what's happening in the Liberal party but they better get their act together or they will end up #3. The Tory party under Harper must go before we get over ours heads in debt.

MDancer has made a fascinating discovery.

I am shocked. Truly shocked.

Someone in the Liberal Party is lying!!!

Interesting to see that after this major discovery has occurred the thread turns into an NDP discussion.

So if you take away the LPC lie, there is nothing LIberal to talk about :P

Punked. If you go to all these NDP events and know all these groups, I am certain you could tell us if these conventions, regular meetings etc ever have any mention of joining the LPC?

I didn't say shooting them, I said Joining them :P

IIRC the PC/ Reform merger talks were active and on the floor of many conventions and backroom discussions of BOTH parties. It took TWO attempts to Reform the Canadian Alliance into the Progressive Conservative Party.

As if it were the "Progressives" that ran Billion Dollar Deficits, brought in Consumer taxes, and charged towards Globalization faster then you can say NEOLIBERAL. All these Liberal Policies are the Lead action of Present Day Conservatives and our Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

I think that if MDANCER does another investigative report, he would find

Someone is the Conservative Party is Lying and then the LPC and CPC could merge on that policy feature :P

I have no problem with power generation being public....that is, publicly held companies traded on the exchange...

But lests agree on something...that the NDP continues to hold socialist policies such as the theft of private property and they would rather Canadians not know about it..

YOU SOCIALIST!!!

But lests agree on something...that the NDP continues to hold socialist policies such as the theft of private property and they would rather Canadians not know about it..

GOVERNMENT has the RIGHT to EXPROPRIATE Private Property and does so EVERY DAY in Canada at ALL levels of Government.

Businesses are EVICTED from their establishments and People from their homes. Be it the Government wants to spoon feed a developer some prime realestate or they want to put a road in, or they want to take away your lakefront home to put up some condos for their buds.

Ironically, I heard the ONDP were debating on a Provincial policy during the Leadership race and only 1 of the 4 Candidates for leader was taking about grabbing a stake in GM let alone "theft". It was so controversial that it went NOWHERE!!!

Ironically a few weeks later, Conservative PrimeMinister Harper and Ontario PrimeMinister McGuinty were rushing to bailout GM and grab a few shares of stocks and handout 90% non repayable loans.

Fear not MDANCER. The Corporate world will be saved. We will save our Banks! Our Compliant Media! And whatever else special interest group is a lobbiest at Queens Park regardless of Liberal and Conservative Governments of the day.

As for the Policies of the NDP. They have a huge policy platform and its available for anyone to see.

The LPC have a Red Book and its available for anyone to read. (See thread title...Someone in the Liberal Party is Lying) and you might find out why virtually nothing in the Red Book has been implemented. LOL.

As for Socialist policies.... I refer to some of WildBills arguments elsewhere.

People support Socialist Policies.

The Conservatives were some of the First to embrace them as a form of GOVERNMENT!!!

Thus if you understand a "Governor" on a car you realize the value of controlling hydro.

If you understand how a potentiometer works, you realize just what happens when you put POWER into the Control of the Private Sector. The scary part is the government is now starting to deliver power and privatize sections of it and have payment based upon the Potentiometer they control.

If you take "Power" to the next level as in Power of Capital and Power of influence of Government and it also works like that potentiometer.

Deregulation of Markets, creates that boom and bust.

But this is no thread for serious discussion.

This thread is about...

Someone lying in the Liberal Party. Haven't heard of a lying liberal since Bryant.

Come think, who benefits from talking "coalition" The Tories and he has there's a 3-4 point lead on the Libs and them. Voters who don't have time to pay a lot of attention of what is going on in Ottawa, are being taken in by the Tories. Layton says nothing is going on, no talk. Besides, there's nothing wrong with talking, its different than doing. I reported here, that the Tory were going to use the "coalition" of the NDP and Libs and they are. Let remember, that Harper and the NDP and the Bloc had a coalition to bring down Martin. THESE Tories can not be trusted, they will do and say anything to come out the winner, its all about THEM!!

Perhaps you aren't aware that publicly held companies are not owned by the state...you know, firms like Suncor, Goldcorp etc...

So I ask again...

Are a fan of neoliberal economic policies subscribed to by such economic luminaries as Milton Friedman and Freidrich Von Hayek?

I think this has more to do with an egomaniac like Warren Kinsella, than anything else....
