Liberal caucus meeting was left in the dark after a power surge blew a circuit breaker and killed the lights in the Centre Block.

Clearly this must have been the evil Harperites doings!!!

Maybe you should get that tinfoil hat readjusted.

What a pointless and braindead thread

You may think so, but on CTV, the press talked about this and said someone told him, that indeed one of the Tories went down and turned off the lights and with this group, ANYTHING is possible!!!!!!

Shhh...Topaz...don't talk like that...otherwise the KGB will come for you

It might be a not so subtle messeage saying..I spit in your eye Canada - messages are sent in cryptic manners and no so subtle.. a couple of years ago I was going past the provincial legislature in Toronto - It was around the holiday season..On the front lawn was the hugest manora imaginable - no Christmas tree - no cross - just this huge Jewish symbol that sreamed out we own you..I complained and it was gone in less that a couple of hours. Signals like lights going out and the blackening of our democratic institutions might just be a a fluke or it might be a F U Canada gesture...besides - don't they have auto generators that should kick in within a minute?

You have to understand how hilarious this event would be to the cons to understand why they would upsurp democracy like that.

They really are evil.

Dead people don't talk. Take that for what it is worth.

Id think green peace was more liable to the event than the tories but the cons more likely to do it.

I think it is the most likely scenario, but 90 minutes to get the lights back on is sort of questionable, if all it required was a flip of a switch? Does reporting and response take an hour and a half? Or did they have to go out to a hardware store to buy a new circuit breaker?

The events of that day do show the cons to be twisted enough to pull something like that.

It was an act of terrorism if a conservative did it though - it constitutes "sabatouge"

terrorism...

E) causes serious interference with or serious disruption of an essential service, facility or system,

whether public or private, other than as a result of advocacy, protest, dissent or stoppage of work that is

not intended to result in the conduct or harm referred to in any of clauses (A) to ©,

I am fairly certain it was an engineered, as one should question how often the lights in centre block turn themselves off over the history of lighting in parliament.

The conservatives might argue it was a work stoppage though.

Power surges are rarely spontaneous, especially if parliament is shut down, how likely would it be running more than regular operations in centre block? You'd think they would have planned to insure adequette electrical supply in the centre of government. . . .

Although What i now wonder is.. was the PM's cabinet meeting with the press originally planned to be outside the parliament buildings -- prior knowledge much? (it was outside with snowflakes falling from the air with the press huddled outside behind riot barriers. why would the PM hold a press conference in sub zero temperatures outside? unless he knew that the lighting inside the parliament buildings wouldn't be sufficient because they were going to be sabatouged?

If they were it is VERY likely that a the cons did it intentionally. If not then it is one of those what ifs, except for people with knowledge of the nature of the event. You think if they can spend over 10 million on renovating the PM's home, they'd spend enough to give a working electrical system to the legistlature. (A real conspiracy theorist would implicate hydroquebec for the NB power deal demise.)

During the height of economic power about 9 months ago I suggested to a banking type that the hysteria spreading though the market place was uncontrolable and it might be best to take the simple step of unpugging it and seperating it from the international system..computerization was in part the culprit - this was a brand new pheomena and loss in confidence..it was a panic that was spreading with lightning speed...oddly enough the market blacked out - maybe my suggestion was heeded and maybe it was not - but odd things do happen...I might have saved a billion buck that day..but I did not make a penny on the shut down...working without compensation is a noble act I suppose. Me being so noble and all!

Are you 15 years old or something? Thisn is one of the dumbest things I've read on this thread for awhile.

You're pretty certain this was the cons doing huh? Based on what? That you don't like them?

I don't like the NDP and I think they're a bunch of weasels. That also means that Haiti was their fault....right? That's how this works right?

The cons don't like black people. They exploited them for hundreds of years and assume that if you dominate a group you are superiour to that group..Initially there was no response from the cons on the Haiti disaster other than sending some observers..Then I guess they must have figured out that it was bad P R - to not show more concern..Any help sent to Haiti by the cons was not sincere _ There are cons who have estates on the Dominican Repubic - and getting rid of the human toxic waste in Haiti would have delighted them.

I wish as long as I get to redo my youth to.

Thisn is one of the dumbest things I've read on this thread for awhile.

It meets the critera for terrorism. Shutting down the lighting system on parliament hill is a serious criminal offence. While it could constitute mischeif or vandalism in a private business. Doing this to the parliament buildings, an essential government structure is easily constituent of a terrorist attack. Bombs that damage walls arn't the only way to do a terrorist act. Destroying electrical systems is also terrorism, especially if specifically aimed to sabatouge democratic process.

You're pretty certain this was the cons doing huh? Based on what?

1. Press conference by cons held outside the parliament buildings in subzero temperatures.

2. Even happened during liberal caucus meeting.

3. Video evidence of Harper pressing the detonator.

That you don't like them?

There are lots of people in the world, I don't make up lies and stories about them just to hear myself talk. The conservatives are no different. It is the act not the person who commits the act. That is why I frequently denounce the acts of the cons, because they should be, not because they are bad people. I'd spend a lot more time in world political forums if I was only here to denounce bad people. Cons are small frys in perspective to misdeads, petty white collar crooks, that commit fraud, misrepresentation, and embezzlement, vandalism and intent to murder. There are more corrupt people out there than that, like the proposed intentions of GWB, or the same can be said of Hitler. Harper is a liar, fraud and cheat, sure, but there are worse people out there. This isn't my endorsement of him, but it isn't me saying I'm here to make stories.

I don't like the NDP and I think they're a bunch of weasels. That also means that Haiti was their fault....right? That's how this works right?

If you think the NDP had enough explosives to cause the plate to shift maybe.

Means + Benefit = plausability of commiting the act.

It was an act of nature..but it did have the effect of showing who is who and what is what. Cons if they could would destroy the place............they would demolish Haiti utterly....what am I saying - It was their banking system that crippled the place to begin with. The disaster would be compared to intentionally starving a dog half to death - then letting the eliments finish it off... The earth quake is a natural act and no human being is responsible for it...it did expose the UN - and cons and con artists like Bill Clinton and George W Bush for the trolls they are..These cons are cannibals coming in to eat what is left of Haiti and say they are helping - what history has either of these man have that shows benevolence towards humanity?

Why are you always in a state of contention? Not everything is a contest on one upmanship. Worst than that - the GG Husband was a frinking terrorist..involved in some stuff that should have gotten him at least 10 too 20 - And Martin was not an invader..He was just having some fun..Just like Harper is in Afghanistan - every rich spoiled brat leader wants to test out the weaponry..Why be prime minister or president if you can not get to fire off the big bazzoka! It's a boy thing. You can always tell how sweetly gleeful the boys are by the look on their face that comes with the first chopper ride ...correct me if I am wrong - but are you guys actually using a Sea King to transport Mr. Big..? He sure swaggered after his first ride _ and Harpers eyes were like glazed over saucers when he got to sit in the his version of the presidencial sky chariot.

This is what passes for discussion on these forums these days?

Not a discussion but a simple statement. Personally I know one high ranking neo con - and he has no use for black human beings..If he is like that then I assume his friends and accociates are like that also - it a deductive statement.

Because it's necessary when someone only tells half of the story, ignoring their own complicity.

So is the GG....to the Taliban.

No, it's fallacious thinking, unsupportable and generally prejudicial. It's an interesting window on to your mind, though.

We've gone from a power failure in the Parliament buildings to a Conservative conspiracy motivated by hatred of black people. This forum is really getting stupid. I can't believe that no one here has ever had a circuit breaker or switch fry itself. All you need is a connection working loose over time, it gets hot and guess what? I had the main breaker in my 30 year old house go for that same reason and yes it took me a good 90 minutes to go to the hardware store, buy an new one and install it.

I imagine it probably started as something of a joke, but of course, if there's one thing Parliament lacks more than a backbone these days, it's a sense of humor.

I would hope it was a joke but am not so sure. Can't argue with the lack of Parliaments sense of humor.

That's not deductive, that's ignorance.
