Bonam Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 Past 30 days of this board, there have been 32 active threads: Israel/Palestine: 14 threads (8 of them by the same poster) Iran: 7 threads North Korea: 4 threads Europe: 2 threads Iraq: 1 thread Pakistan: 1 thread Russia: 1 thread Lebanon: 1 thread Oleg on some topic I can't figure out: 1 thread Total middle east threads: 24 Total other threads: 8 Interestingly, there are no threads on Africa, no threads on China, no threads on Sri Lanka, no threads on central/south America. Why the overwhelming focus on the middle-east? Why do certain people spam threads on almost the same topic about the same country over and over? Why do people supposedly concerned with human rights or international law or critiquing violent regimes fail to mention events in almost all other parts of the world besides the middle-east? Quote

I figure it shines right through, anyways. That would be more a rabble.ca thing to do. When things get too narrow around here for me I post in "Your Favorite Aircraft" or "Crazy YouTube Videos". Who knows?...maybe even kuzadd has a favorite aircraft. I wish more people would take time to just yak n' chat in the off topic forums so we get to be more human rather than some internet caricature. In a nutshell, most of the participants on this web site do not know much or care much about what goes on in the world. On the other hand, you have a small, but strident number of posters who hate Israel - for whatever reason. They continually post new accusations, most of them silly, and defend them to the Nth degree. They never tire of arguing about the purity and nobility of their quest EVER, so any thread on Israel is guaranteed to have a whole lot of BS accusations. There are also some people who defend Israel, for whatever reason, including myself, and who tend to find it easy to point out what BS the accusations are, how one-sided are the arguments, and how hypocritical are the anti-israel zealots. Thus these threads go on forever. Threads on other nations tend to have a few posts, then die off quickly. That's just the way it is.
