Very superfical traditions...and they all suffer from angst..and all worry what other people will think - maybe Ignatieff is actually a peasant boy they sent to school and is NOT of high lineage. Oleg Bach Posted June 16, 2009 Report Posted June 16, 2009 The family name "Ignatieff" comes from Ignace de Loyola.http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Ignatieff Does not - that's fake! Ignatiff (Ignatsis) is the name of a saint.....he may have had forebares that were priests - or possibly someone sent one to France to be refined and changed the name to appear French ----I knew an old Russian whos name was Nicholas De Grand De Masion......or nickoli of the big house..... a name means nothing..all names are altered that came out of old russia - Quote

fellowtraveller Posted June 16, 2009 Report Posted June 16, 2009 Have we now seen the two schizophrenic planks of Igantieffs election platform, what he insists on from Harper: to simultaneously spend lots right now while keeping the deficit down? I also like his approach to promoting the economic and political prosperity of Canada: continually bluffing at having an election. Quote The government should do something.

Moonbox Posted June 17, 2009 Author Report Posted June 17, 2009 and the people will decide eventually to elect a minority and be done with it. We'll see who comes out on top. Oleg Bach Posted June 17, 2009 Report Posted June 17, 2009 In more precise terms, Canadians will get what they deserve: a very instable parliament that will not last longer than the previous ones. Not going to happen - Harper and Ignatieff - will bond and you will see a one party system - they have no choice. Layton will be the only opposing party - and it should work out just fine - seeing that there really are no consevatives or real liberals left - a centralist moderate party is forming - and moderation is the key to good management. normanchateau Posted June 17, 2009 Report Posted June 17, 2009 - seeing that there really are no consevatives or real liberals left - You don't think Harper is a conservative? Why would the Conservative party want a leader who's not conservative? Quote

Topaz Posted June 17, 2009 Report Posted June 17, 2009 You don't think Harper is a conservative? Why would the Conservative party want a leader who's not conservative? The answer is, Harper was the leader of the Alliance and the Progressive Conservatives were wiped out, so Harper knew the East wouldn't voted for the Alliance so he made a deal to adopt the name Conservative and became leader. I"m not sure what he is, except, we know he's not NDP or Bloc as yet, anyway. Quote

Topaz Posted June 17, 2009 Report Posted June 17, 2009 None of the parties wanted a election, probably for the one reason they wanted the summer off. Yes, they will be in their ridings but for the money we pay them I think anyone would and could do their summer doings. The agreement that the PM and Iggy has is really only an agreement to look at the changes but nothing before Sept. and if its like the rest of Harper era, they won't be back til late Sept or Oct. if we all could have timetables like the MP's! I think both, Harper and Iggy look bad on this one. Quote
