BornAlbertan Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 (edited) Anyone notice in Dion's crappy, out of focus, camera phone video that the book on the top left side of the screen was titled "Hot Air"? Edited December 4, 2008 by BornAlbertan Quote
ThatGuy Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 It made me wonder if they wrote it up on the spot after Harper was finished. It was wierd how CTV didn't get it at the same time as the CBC. Quote
BornAlbertan Posted December 4, 2008 Author Report Posted December 4, 2008 You know...I am serious about the book titles HOT AIR But yeah, it looked VERY hastily thrown together Quote

ThatGuy Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 (edited) It was prerecorded and delivered prior to Harpers speech ending. Not when we watched it here in Ontario. Harper ended about 7:06 on CBC and they had to time fill with pundits until 7:28 because the tape hadn't arrived yet. CTV didn't even air it. Edited December 4, 2008 by ThatGuy Quote

lukin Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 (edited) I was on the CBC website a minute a go. I wanted to watch videos of the speeches by the leaders that were on TV earlier this evening. Harper's worked fine. Duceppe's worked fine. For some reason Dion's camera phone speech wouldn't work. Was this the result of a technical difficulty or was it not working on purpose. I am so sick of the tax funded CBC being the media arm of the Liberals. This was formerly the Opening Post of a thread entitled CBC Bias? It has been merged into this previous post on the same topic. Edited December 4, 2008 by Charles Anthony merged threads Quote
capricorn Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 (edited) If the CBC is the media arm of the Liberals, why would they have purposely screwed up Dion's tape? Does not compute. Huston Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 If the CBC is the media arm of the Liberals, why would they have purposely screwed up Dion's tape? Does not compute. Because they are part of the liberals who do not like Dion? Quote

kimmy Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 (edited) I caught a portion of a CTV broadcast where this issue was discussed (CTV received the same poor-quality video, apparently, and they received it too late to be broadcast at the same time as the others.) They put a statement from Dion's spokeswoman, Johanne Senecal, on the screen. The statement apologized for the quality of the video and the late delivery, and said that they are investigating what went wrong. At the risk of sounding partisan, I must point out that this doesn't really help Dion put aside the "absent-minded professor" image... -k Edited December 4, 2008 by Charles Anthony deleted re-copied Opening Post Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)

scribblet Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 Dion wants to lead this country he cannot even get his tape to the networks on time. talk about joe clark and lost mittons again. Shakeyhands Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 The Liberals and the NDP with the support of the Bloc want to lead this country, not Dion. Dion is caretaker until his replacement is found. But you all know that... Further character attacks on Dion are de rigueur I suppose. White Doors Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 That had to be one of the most rank amateurish productions I have ever seen. It was late. it was out of focus. Stephanie was tripping on his tongue. And this guy thinks he can be prime-minister? It would have been funny if it wasn't so pathetic. Then to top it off with a cherry - that book you could see that had 'hot air' on it? hahaha apropos, apropos Quote Those Dern Rednecks done outfoxed the left wing again.~blueblood~
kuzadd Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 I watched both of the speeches, I'll comment on content. Harper doesn't mention his government has another minority, He calls it a mandate. It was not a decisive one. He mentions the oppositions actions, but not his own. He uses fear mongering-waving the Bloc around. the Bloc:A federal party , elected to parliament, by Canadians. He paints the oppositions as treasonous. He paints the actions as ant-democratic, they are not. And lastly, he portrays himself as the "big daddy" who will take care of everything and kiss all the booboos. Long on irrationality and fear, short on substance. Quote Insults are the ammunition of the unintelligent - do not use them. It is okay to criticize a policy, decision, action or comment. Such criticism is part of healthy debate. It is not okay to criticize a person's character or directly insult them, regardless of their position or actions. Derogatory terms such as "loser", "idiot", etc are not permitted unless the context clearly implies that it is not serious. Rule of thumb: Play the ball, not the person (i.e. tackle the argument, not the person making it).

Argus Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 Okay, surely anyone who isn't a total partisan has to admit that the optics of this aren't good. The Tories have a sharp, crisp, clear, professionally made video in every sense of the word - while the Liberals apparantly used a camera Dion's mother in law bought with her Zellers points in 1994 operated by a member of the cleaning staff they gave five bucks to. Are you kidding me!? This is a professional political party in Canada that aspires to lead the country next week? Warren Kinsella, more than any man in Canada, is reponsible for the vitriol and partisanship which makes it almost impossible for the parties to work together. kuzadd Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 I actually found Dion's speech more upbeat, delivered in a more positive manner. Demonstrating inclusion. Demonstrating a plan to include all. The Harper government has lost the confidence of fellow mp, that is true and obvious. Canadians want Parliament to work together, that is true and obvious. Coalitions presented as positive, and done in other countries, stressing cooperation, not conflict. Talking about the economy, including all major city centres across the country, demonstrating inclusiveness. Politician and rivals are working together elsewhere in the world, why not Canada? Downplaying of fear. Overall, the better of the two speeches. Quote Insults are the ammunition of the unintelligent - do not use them. It is okay to criticize a policy, decision, action or comment.
