capricorn Posted September 21, 2008 Report Posted September 21, 2008 NDP candidate Julian West in Saanich-Gulf Island exposed himself repeatedly to kids 9 years ago. An NDP candidate in B.C. issued a public apology Sunday for taking off his clothes in front of minors at an environmental retreat 12 years ago.Julian West said in a statement that he made a "serious error in judgement" by shedding his clothes a number of times, but stressed that nothing else inappropriate occurred. ---- Gerry Scott, campaign manager for the NDP national campaign in B.C., said the Liberals raised the embarrassing incident in an e-mail that was sent out to at least one reporter. The e-mail suggested NDP Leader Jack Layton was poised to dump West because of the incident. But a spokesman at the Liberals' national campaign office said they had nothing to do with the e-mail. http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Canada/CanadaV...6833566-cp.html Buh bye West. Who's Doing What? Posted September 21, 2008 Report Posted September 21, 2008 I really wish all the parties and the media would just stop with this mudslinging and mock outrage. Let stick to the actual campaign platforms. WTF actually ARE the campaign platforms??? Quote Harper differed with his party on some key policy issues; in 1995, for example, he was one of only two Reform MPs to vote in favour of federal legislation requiring owners to register their guns. http://www.mapleleafweb.com/election/bio/harper.html "You've got to remember that west of Winnipeg the ridings the Liberals hold are dominated by people who are either recent Asian immigrants or recent migrants from eastern Canada: people who live in ghettoes and who are not integrated into western Canadian society." scribblet Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 I'm beginning to wonder, I think we should forget the rest of the campaign and just vote now... Sheez, it seems like the guy just wanted to go skinny dipping. These days you don't do anything like that at any time in front of minors. Did you know that Big Brothers are having a problem recruiting men to be big brothers, no surprise, if I were a guy I wouldn't do it either. One never knows when you can be unfairly or maliciously accused of something that was completley innocent. Quote Hey Ho - Ontario Liberals Have to Go - Fight Wynne - save our province

capricorn Posted September 23, 2008 Author Report Posted September 23, 2008 Julian West resigned. "After thinking about it, I have determined that I do not want to continue as a candidate and I have informed the party of that decision," West said in a written statement."I do not want my candidacy to detract from the campaign or from the issues that should be front and centre in this campaign," he said. "I'm going to return to my private life now, and I sincerely hope the campaign will be focused on the issues." http://www.cbc.ca/news/canadavotes/story/2...st-resigns.html I had a feeling this would come about. g_bambino Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 NDP candidate Julian West in Saanich-Gulf Island exposed himself repeatedly to kids 9 years ago. "Exposed"? Of course, it has to be made to sound so lecherous, like he was a flasher, or something. He took off his clothes to go swimming and to body paint, in an "environmental retreat," with teenagers. Big deal. Quote

He took off his clothes to go swimming and to body paint, in an "environmental retreat," with teenagers. Big deal. I think the big deal might have been his hard on.... Shortly after his resignation was announced, two women who were among the teens at the retreat said West's behaviour went far beyond an error in judgment. The women, Amy Brownhill and Jessica Gnyp, alleged that West stripped down and stood naked in front of a large group of 14- to 17-year-old girls who were fully clothed and doing face-paints. The women alleged West, who was with the Green party at the time, was physically aroused. "Mr. West's behaviour was grossly inappropriate and of a sexual nature," Brownhill and Gnyp said in a letter provided to CBC News. "Mr. West's behaviour was completely inappropriate and disturbing," they added. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canadavotes/story/2...st-resigns.html Quote RIGHT of SOME, LEFT of OTHERS If it is a choice between them and us, I choose us

TCCK Posted September 27, 2008 Report Posted September 27, 2008 Umm, what's funny about any of this? Definitely not the act he did to offend the girls but just that once again the NDP have choosen politicians with such high moral fibre to try to lead and govern our country. Why anyone would vote for them still baffles me. Quote
