  1. So you're saying the Canadian people are too stupid to vote the right (your) way?
  2. Just as a matter of interest, Nunavut has four official languages - English, French, Inuktitut and Inuinnaqtun. Everything published by the territorial government has to be translated into all four languages. Note the census figures for Inuinnaqtun: http://www.stats.gov.nu.ca/Publications/census/2011/StatsUpdate_Mother%20Tongue%20and%20Language%20Spoken%20Most%20Often%20at%20Home.pdf The 'other language' is probably predominantly Danish - which was considered as a possible official language when the territory was created but dropped at the last minute. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knud_Rasmussen
  3. Publishers Clearing House has been sending these out for over 30 years - I'm pretty sure they have the legalities figured out by now.
  4. Hello? It's not that nice a place to live. The house is an ancient money pit - it's drafty, too hot in the summer, and too cold in the winter. It fronts onto a major thoroughfare with tour busses stopping out front every five minutes or so. There's always a couple of shady characters parked in the laneway but you still keep Inuit carvings in the bedroom - just in case. Some say the attic and walls are filled with some poison that causes cancer - but "it's okay as long as you don't disturb it". Yeah, sounds like a great place to raise a family...
  5. I've spent the last couple of days reading this thread from the beginning. Why doesn't the union open their own business, pay their employees whatever they feel is fair, and then reap all the unreasonable profits for themselves? If you don't like the way Walmart or anyone else runs their business, either start your own business or just stay out of theirs. Pretty simple.
  6. Even if that was true (are you kidding?), please explain why all the Walmart employees don't go get a job at Costco?
  7. Actually, yes he is, or at least he claims to be - http://www.uea.ac.uk/env/people/facstaff/osbornt Not sure what point you're trying to make. Besides, you don't have to be a scientist to add a few numbers to a chart...
  8. Someone has posted a search engine of all the emails at http://www.anelegantchaos.org Be warned - a lot of it is scary stuff. Their concept of 'peer reviews' seems to be extensive discussion on how to manipulate graphs so they convey the right impression and how to keep raw data out of the 'skeptics' hands.
  9. "Tim Osborn discusses how data are truncated to stop an apparent cooling trend showing up in the results (0939154709)" http://i49.tinypic.com/mk8113.jpg Bottom chart is the IPCC version where the graph is stopped in 1960 - the top graph shows what the real figures indicate...they were apparently left out because they didn't support the theory!
  10. Hmm, it might work. Probably better than the status quo, in any case.
  11. The 1.1 billion profit was cited earlier in the thread as justification for that particular branch plant to receive higher wages. I was trying to point out how silly they were being - maybe it didn't come across...
  12. An interesting idea. But a problem remains - who judges the results? One of his conditions is that there is no 'executive summary', so by definition, a layman (or city council or whatever) could not reasonably be expected to make an informed decision. So, we'll need a third council of scientists, just to evaluate what the other scientists are saying. How do we make sure the third council is acting fairly?
  13. Move? Are you offering to buy their house? Maybe you'll be willing to pay whatever the market value was before this all started - because right now the market value is probably about $1.00. Perhaps you'd like to take care of their mortgage for them - that would be considerate.
  14. Are you a doctor? Did you speak to a doctor about your decision? Do you know what a doctor is?
