Shady Posted June 15, 2008 Report Posted June 15, 2008 I'm going to miss Tim Russert a lot. I grew up watching Meet The Press every sunday morning. And it's been a weekend tradition of mine to sit down with some eggs and bacon, or pancakes, or whatever I felt like making, with some coffee, and watching Tim every sunday. I was shocked when I first heard the news on friday afternoon. I'm not sure my sunday mornings will ever be quite the same. Rest in peace Tim Russert. Quote
BubberMiley Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 He was the best. I can't imagine how they'll find anyone who comes close to filling his shoes. My guess is Brokaw will take over for the time being. Quote "I think it's fun watching the waldick get all excited/knickers in a knot over something." -scribblet
Guest American Woman Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 I never watched Meet the Press myself, but my parents watched it every Sunday and thought very highly of him. It sounds as if his death was a shock to a lot of people, and it's apparent how much he will be missed. RIP Quote
WIP Posted June 16, 2008 Report Posted June 16, 2008 Tim Russert will be a hard act to follow because he was the first host of Meet The Press who made politicians sweat a little under tough questioning. Most of the time he couldn't make them budge from their carefully scripted talking points, at least not until later appearances when the guest would be confronted with video clips from the past contradicting the new message. Most politicians seem to go into filibuster mode when this happens, and try to run out the clock to avoid answering why they've changed positions or altered their message. I hope the next host puts as much work into research and preparing for interviews that Tim Russert did! GostHacked Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 Too bad, you missed one of the greats of journalism. I agree, he carried himself very well when in that chair. Confident, respectful, may not have asked all the hard questions all the time. But his forum in which people debated topics was one of the most respectful news shows I have ever seen. Rarley if at all would you find him insulting others, or spinning things. Quote
