GostHacked Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 Zeitgeist the movie! a movie that all people interested in politics should watch! http://zeitgeistmovie.com/ It's long but it is worth watching all the way through. Quote
Drea Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 That was excellent but I cannot see rightwingers having the patience to sit through the whole two hours. So really, they are just "preaching to the choir" as those of us who already believe our gov'ts are capable of covert operations against their own citizen are the only ones who will watch it anyway. Ghost, after watching it my only question is "why?". What is the point of all this? I can understand one wanting riches for their family and their future generations, but how does enslaving an entire earth of people "help" one to get any richer than the richest person on earth already is? What is the point of controlling the world's banking system -- these people already have more money than twenty generations will ever need -- so WHY? I don't mean to be pessimistic, but really... WHY????? Quote ...jealous much? Booga Booga! Hee Hee Hee

Yep..that would deserve a collective "Duh!"...tell us something we don't already know. Is there anything original in this "masterpiece" of usual suspects? Nope: The over-all temper of the video is rather like the John Birch Society on acid, with interludes by Harry Smith. Incongruously, after spending nearly two hours trying to scare the bejeezis out of its viewers, Zeitgeist ends on an oddly upbeat note, telling us that Love — not Fear — is the answer, We are all One, and featuring sound-bites from Ram Dass and Carl Sagan. http://www.boingboing.net/2007/08/06/jay-k...-reviews-z.html Edited February 10, 2008 by bush_cheney2004 Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
Drea Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 Sweet, dear sweet disolutional bc-2004! There is nothing in the vid about "love" "peace" etc... But of course you didn't watch it as your attention span is that of a tse tse fly -- as I knew it was -- the only things that will hold the rightwingers attention is tits or guns. So you probably enjoyed the first 9 min 53 seconds... after those war images that captured your limited rightwing brain for the first ten minutes... the video begins. Why not watch it yourself.. the whole thing... (go put on a pot of coffee, I will wait) and then come back and talk about it, instead of copying and pasting someone else's review. Isn't that typically rightwing though? Relying on someone else's opinion to guide you rather than listening and developing your own thoughts? Come back when you've watched the video... and try to form some of your own opinions on the matter (I know it's difficult, but I beleive in you -- I beleive you can do it!) Quote ...jealous much? Visionseeker Posted February 11, 2008 Report Posted February 11, 2008 A friend of mine sent me a link to this some time ago. This was my reply (and I ain't no right-winger): "The zodiacal link to religion, and specifically its influence on the formation of Christianity (and other religions) is intriguing. But the monologue presentation isn’t backed-up by “experts” or verifiable facts. I will say that my own familiarity with various religious myth leaves me open-minded to what is presented. But if I were to become convinced based on this alone, well, I would be intellectually susceptible to believing religious myth. That Christianity and all religion is simply an institutional method of control doesn’t quite do them justice. Most certainly religions are the original shrouds of conformity. But understanding how they influence society requires one to understand that they contain legal, cultural, moral, mythological and sociological characteristics and adherents tend to have preferential leanings towards some characteristics over others (e.g. those who prefer the legal and sociological characteristics tend to be fundamentalists). But enough on religion. The 9/11 conspiracy is factually selective. The threads the film ties together don’t amount to compelling evidence of an inside job. As for the science (or lack thereof)… When an aluminum plane slams into the ground at 500 mph with 3,000 gal of jet fuel, it (and everything in it) disintegrates into little bity pieces. Similarly, when another it slams into a concrete reinforced building with 3,000 gal of Jet-A (with a maximum burn temperature of 980 °C), there won’t be much plane left. The 9/11 building implosion myth has been, in my opinion, thoroughly disproved. Pancake theory is fully supported by the science for towers 1 + 2. Besides, watch the mid-range floors (band of floors with a different shade of color). If a controlled demolition took place, that band of floors would descend to the ground, not be overtaken by rubble from above. The international bankers conspiracy is utter nonsense. The handling of facts surrounding WWII are so twisted and, on a few obvious occasions, complete fabrications. I could refute nearly every contention the documentary makes on the WWII era. This segment severely strains the credibility one might afford to the entire work. All the same, the production certainly made me think; which is more than can be said of most anything on TV nowadays." Quote

Drea Posted February 11, 2008 Report Posted February 11, 2008 well exuuuuse people for not wanting to wade through that many posts to find the video. Moonlight Graham Posted February 12, 2008 Report Posted February 12, 2008 Interesting film. Poor production quality. I watched the first 30 minutes or so, and skimmed through the rest (may finish the film later). I was fascinated with the mirrors between Christianity and astrology, and wiki'd some of the reference made in the film. A lot of the similarities between Christiantiy and pre-jesus deities i couldn't find on wiki, but some of the stuff checks out. Will have to do more google'ing. Then the flick went all wacko into 20th wars, Bush v Hitler etc. The movie said both Hitler and Bush Jr. said the following statements: "An evil exists that threatens every man, woman, and child of this great nation. We must take steps to ensure our domestic security and protect our homeland." The film claims Hitler said it when announcing the Gestapo to the German people. It doesn't give a source when/where Bush said the quote. In fact i COULD NOT find anywhere on google where Bush Jr. said the above quote. If anyone can, please post it. The closest i could find was Bush saying this during the 2002 State of the Union: "Our first priority must always be the security of our nation, and that will be reflected in the budget I send to Congress. My budget supports three great goals for America: We will win this war [in Afghanistan]; we'll protect our homeland; and we will revive our economy..." After this discovery, im not putting too much faith into the accuracy of this this film. bush_cheney2004 Posted February 12, 2008 Report Posted February 12, 2008 Off topic, but do you/did you actually support Bush & Cheney or did you choose your username for the sake of irony? My username was chosen during the 2004 US election cycle in support of the Bush-Cheney ticket on the now defunct Politics Canada web site. There was an added satisfaction in getting Bush detracters to type the username in posts. Accordingly, the subsequent election victory was delightful. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

No, it's my own as far as I know. I'm sure someone else has noted the same thing elsewhere. What I admire is the continuation of American hegemony, and the many forms it takes, not the cult of individual personality. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
