Wow, that was intelligent. We don't make fun of your ceremonial institutions...oh wait....you have none

It's not ceremonial.....the Queen Mum is Queen of Canada....with royal affirmation.

Besides....payback is a bitch for all those Dubya jokes.

How could you not joke about a person who is, well, a joke.

I just did, but you didn't like it.

The Queen isn't a joke. Have you ever heard one of her addresses. Much better than dubya could ever do.

Yes, I have...she's a real snoozer. Even princess Diane went to sleep. God Save the Queen.

I can't wait for November 2008 and then January 2009.

Why..are you going to elect a new Queen? If you mean the American federal election and inauguration, yep, we do it like clockwork. Nobody knows when you get to vote again.

Well at least she can use sentences longer than ten words and doesn't have to take a five second break between them to think of the next one.

I think Princess Diana once referred to herself as being a "pea-brain". She flunked out of school, had absolutely no intellect--the exact opposite to Prince Charles. The thing about the Royal Family is that they are born and bred to govern--in order to maintain their relevance and power, they have to really educate themselves in all aspects of government and politics. This is not the case with Presidents and Prime Ministers--they enter politics for a variety of reasons (such as status, ego...), and eventually most return to private life.

Yeah, see, thats what happens with Minority governments. I personally don't want set election dates anyway. It takes all the fun out of it for me.

The sad thing about American politics is the specticle that goes on for about the TWO YEARS leading up to the election. Such utter nonsense.

I agree, not to mention the amount of money each party spends.

Hooo! You so funny BC!

Actually whats really funny is you making fun of the royal ceremonial regalia. Ever look at the average American military person in uniform? You guys give out medals like party favours. You get one for qualifying on the service rifle, one for a nice uniform, oh and lets not forget the one you get for going on a military exercise. Impressive, yeah right, sure.

The average american serviceman with five years in sports more bling than any tinpot South American Dictator could in three lifetimes. Talk about cheapening the meaning of meritourious awards.

really man, before you sling stones you should move out of that glass house. Please feel free to respond in a childish petty manner, after all its expected of you.

Typical American.

No, he's not a "typical American" at all. Surely people on this board have enough smarts to recognize that. Seriously. Think about it. How many Americans have you met in life that go around poking fun at the queen, Canada's ceremonial institutions, etc.? Americans just don't do that. Surely you don't judge Americans by one poster on a web board. <_<

Yet reading through this thread, I see B_C04 had goaded some of you into doing what he has done-- you're making fun of America, with the post about our military uniforms standing out in particular. Do you really hold these views, or are they simply a reaction to B_C04?

I see this thread as being started for nothing more than goading, and personally I think it would be great if people didn't feed this type of poster/thread with responses.

(I can't wait for November 2008 and then January 2009 either, smallc-- nor can the rest of the world).

The Queen Mum ceased being Queen of Canada the day her daughter ascended the throne.

....besides she died.

Why, when I absolutely agree. I really didn't have much use for a Wilkinson sword on submarine patrol, but it was part of the uniform. Most os the time we just wore unadorned "poopy suits".

This thread was very purposeful and followed member no queenslave's lead. The response and recoil have been most interesting. I note that it is fine to mock and ridicule other nation's head of state, but not Canada's. This is typical and not a surprise at all.

Ripping the royals has become commonplace since the Lady Di fiasco.....they can take their lumps like any other "celebrity".
