I just read on the weekend that the US flew 6 nuclear missles from one end of the country to Lousiana, where they will be flown to the Middle-East. It said its against the US law to fly nuclear missles over the US and that someone was going to be in BIG trouble for it. MY question is , are these missles for Iran and if so what give Bush the authority to use them against Iran?

Topaz, if your information is true then we are in big trouble, because Mr. Bush and his friends are bent on increasing the war effort and whether we like it or not we will be involved, as will the rest of the world. These people are sociopaths, they do not care for their own people and certainly consider the rest of the world irrelavant

It doesn't say anywhere that this is anything other than a very bad mistake in the proceedure regarding nuclear weapons. No mention of the missiles being deployed to the Middle-East. Nor is their any need to...the US Navy has plenty of these onboard their various ships in the Gulf and Red Sea etc.

However, it is a very, very bad screw-up.

When I came in here and saw this thing, the symbols, looking the way it looked, ... I wanted to get right in there and taxi it out.

And where pray tell did you read it, and where did you getbthe notion that it's against US law to move US weapons?

It's not against the civilian law...but it does break the military's rules regarding armed warheads over US airspace. The 6 missiles are apparently due for the chopping block. Sounds like a big f**k-up more than anything else. As mentioned, there are plenty of nuclear weapons aboard US Navy warships in the Gulf.

I was wondering if this was old news.....but I was actually asking where he read the tin foil part of his unsourced grumble......

Did you know tin(foil) is the traditional gift for a 10th anniversay?

I suspect pure sensationalism. It's more dramatic to assume GWB is always up to some evil plan...lol.

So by that standard, only aircraft carrier based planes can carry nukes?

Good luck to the lowly B2 pilot landing on a Nimitz class carrier.

Shucks....looks like the secret plan for the US to nuke itself is out of the bag. I better go check InfoWars to get the truth!

Sigh...fine. Bush obviously had plans to nuke the Middle-East. It's so obvious. Meanwhile, did you know aircraft "chem-trails" are infact designed by the FAA in order to make us more willing to pay higher airline ticket prices?

...and those bast*rds want us to believe man walked on the Moon. What do they take us for? Fools?

The problem here is that the nukes were still armed when they flew over the US.

http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/09/05/loose.nukes/index.html

The plane took the cruise missiles from Minot Air Force Base to Barksdale Air Force Base for decommissioning Thursday, the Air Force said.

...

Shepperd said the United States had agreed in a Cold War-era treaty not to fly nuclear weapons. "It appears that what happened was this treaty agreement was violated," he said.

They had warheads on them, but they were not armed. The switch was disabled, so there was no chance of them accidentaly going off. Nukes have so many precautions and saftey measures that it seems soo improbable that one would just go off for no reason.

Yeah I would be mroe worried about all those missle frigates and subs in the Persian Gulf. They are just closer.

ALTHOUGH....... if these nukes had slipped past undetected and just dissapeared, THEN I would worry about where they are going.
