As opposed to someone who's God is one of the undead? Really, anyone with an imaginary friend in the sky is not playing with a full deck straight away. Right on BD!

You folks are overlooking the problem we have in Alberta. Honest Politician was trying to point out the crisis, even though he may have overstated some finer points. But it is clear there is a very serious problem, one of which is this: http://www.cbc.ca/calgary/story/ca_shortage20060127.html Shoop, I said bully tactics, a sematic difference. Threatening a member that he woud be banned if the moderator was around is a bully tactic in my eyes. And as far as who takes the most abuse, please do a search Tml12. You might be surprised at some of the receipients of the tactics I fore mentioned.

I'm not a hunter but is it unreasonable to assume that when you're in a hunting party you should know where EVERYONE is in relation to oneself?

Read the articles again. You can't deny we have a major medicare crisis in this Province. And using bully tactics like the above quote maybe works on the schoolyard, but this is an adult forum. And speaking of Greg, you would be well advised to read over "Greg's" rules yourself.

Yeah, except to yell FIRE in a theatre. I'm well aware of all that. I'm referring more to situations where hate is promoted, like a KKK march. Or a protest of Hindus against Sheiks of an action on their own country. Where, in fact, would we draw the line? Or is ANY and ALL protest okay?

Harper must be banging his head after this quote

Cry me a freaking river. I'm a Liberal in Alberta. Do you know how long it's been since a Liberal Gov't has been in place here? -

So then why have a party name beside the candidate? Seems to me parties have platforms and some people actually vote for a candidate based on those platforms. I have it both ways when the man I put an X to in the ballot box is elected to the represent his constituents as a member of the party beside his name. Anything less than that is invalid as far as I'm concerned. -

Emerson thinks he is now the victim apparently. -

I'm sure Chuck Cadman would disagree. -

That's okay if everything is a free vote. But ideologically speaking, this guy switched parties based on a loss or win of his own. He doesn't appear to own his own principles. -
But where do you draw the line with that? Should immigrants and new Canadians be protesting, say, issues in their original countries? I don't know; I'm kinda iffy on this.

I agree. I didn't approve of Belinda's crossing without getting a mandate from her constituents. At least she did that in the last election. But this crossing the floor crap has to stop. If they want to leave the party sit as a damn Independent then. -

Yep, your old standby, CTV, scooped the "left wing" media on this one. Oh, the "story" is in the first post. -

Choose more carefully? So now when we're in the voting booth we have to realize that our candidate may "cross the floor.?" This is democracy? It's called fraud August. And today 100's of his constituents protested, even calling Emerson a traitor. This is a clear case of Emerson trying to advance his own private interest. He would have stayed Liberal had they won. It's a disgusting situation, and Harper has to move on this if he's to have any credibility on his moral high ground that he platformed on. -
It's worth repeating. Seems you folks forget the relentless slander and innuendo you bashed the former government with on and on and on...... So get used to it.

Can't take the heat guys? I'm just pointing out what Harper promised: cleaning up government. Well, he's off to a terrible start. -

More dirt: http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/stor...0210?hub=Canada Gordon O'Connor, the new defence minister, is being challenged because of his past work as a military procurement lobbyist. His new job will put him in charge of massive spending on military procurement. Ted Menzies, the affable Alberta MP, was made parliamentary secretary for the francophonie and official languages, although he speaks no French. Love it! -
Yeah, considering it's CPC members who are musing about it. "I think the right authorities will be looking into it and I'll leave it at that," Alberta MP Myron Thompson said. "I guess the best thing the Canadian people can ask for is a thorough and fulsome investigation of whatever new charges are brought, up," said Ontario MP Garth Turner, who ran to succeed Mulroney as party leader in 1993.

Those people's ignorance of the system is no excuse. David Emerson, not the Liberal party, was elected. So if Emerson wanted to go in as a Block member, that would be okay too?
-
This from another thread: Emerson says this the day after the election: "I'm going to be Stephen Harper's worst enemy," he warned. "We're going to stir the pot and you better believe we are going to make a heck of a lot of noise." http://vancouver.24hrs.ca/News/2006/01/24/1408892.html

Whatever happened to ethical, accountable government?
newbie replied to BubberMiley's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Full disclosure to who? What a crock. What an insult to his constituents. At least Belinda ran again in the next election and won as a Liberal. Speaking of hypocrisy, what about this statement Emerson said the day after the election? "I'm going to be Stephen Harper's worst enemy," he warned. "We're going to stir the pot and you better believe we are going to make a heck of a lot of noise." http://vancouver.24hrs.ca/News/2006/01/24/1408892.html Something odd to say when you're about to switch parties. Or was that before the "full disclosure." -

Nice try, but the situation was entirely different as you are well aware. Try and remember back what Mr. Harper said when dear Belinda left his party. Do you remember? Here's a little reminder of the situation. http://www.canada.com/topics/news/politics...139a9f9&k=70347 Like I said, apples and oranges. -
