  1. On the contrary. It's a perfectly logical statement. Do bear in mind that Muslims are not a race, so you can hardly be racist towards them. How silly of me. My bad. I should have said extremely bigoted. No, you're still wrong. Bigotry is intollerence, at heart. And unless your definition of "tolerance" means acceptance and respect for any type of attitude or behaviour, however much it goes against our own interests and values, then bigotry doesn 't work. Shesse. Don't you guys ever look up a word in the dictionary? Here is bigot: A bigot is a prejudiced person who is intolerant of any opinions differing from their own. The original poster was very intolerant of muslims and anyone who disagreed with him by ending the sentence, If you disagree, I'm afraid your mind is defective. That fits the definition completely.
  2. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...6060801376.html Now that Tom's out, I wonder if he'll still have the energy for his trial in Texas on campaign money laundering charges.
  3. I wish more people on this forum could accept that instead of taking the low road and bashing Berg and Goddard.
  4. I clearly hope you were having a bad day when you wrote this. Otherwise it is one of the most racist statements I've read yet on this forum. On the contrary. It's a perfectly logical statement. 6. Finally something we can agree on. While I'm not crazy for hypenated Canadians I do share the sentiment. I am grateful for Quebec and its culture, but tend to get too hung up in the politics of it all.
  7. And this is where the problem lies. I live in Canada first; my Province comes next, not the other way around. I applaud Trudeau, and feel he was totally right with his not "giving in" to Quebec with concessions. Your language and culture is protected, you have your own civil code...from the Westerner point of view it is all a little too confusing and frustrating.
  8. A few more while we're at it. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=htt...s&ct=image&cd=2 http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/features/...lterwisdom.html http://www.nndb.com/people/474/000022408/
  9. Don't forget that all the U.S.'s major kills, captures have come from Iraqi citizens ratting. Bravo to them.
  10. Aah, the power of fear. It's starting already in Canada.
  11. Even though she had no credibility with me, she completely loses it all with I have never seen a group of women take so much glee in the deaths of their husbands. That's not going over the line: that is demolishing it.
  12. How ridiculous to include the Dixie Chicks and Baldwins with Jane Fonda. The former spoke their opinion and received death threats, so they had no choice but to withdraw their comments. They stand by them now tho. When the time comes when I can't criticise my Prime Minister, 1984 will have arrived. As for sentiments expressed on this forum, I have probably said more than my share of my contempt for the illegal Iraq invasion and the U.S.' incompetent leader. So what is your point Betsy? Cancel free speech?
  13. To play the devil's advocate, Fred Phelps, a supposedly "Christian" minister in the U.S.A. spews out dreadful hate against specific individuals and homosexuals: http://www.godhatesamerica.com/ His twisted sense of what God wants is just as horrifying. Don't forget those Christians killing abortion doctors, Pat Robertson wanting to assassinate Chavez, Jerry Falwell.....
  14. How about Dueceppe has negative opinions, which don't really count for the rest of Canada.
  15. Yep, good ole Annie got a little "testy" with Matt over at the Today show. Read the transcript: http://www.crooksandliars.com/
  16. Where is such bigotry bred? I hear that stuff out in Alberta. And some of it comes from unlikely sources, religious sources. That's all I'm gonna say.
  17. Sheese. Liberals damned if they do, damned if they don't. Yeah, cooperation would be a bit confusing to the Conservatives alright.
  18. Uh, would that be skin cancer?
  19. The U. S. is no saviour in this. Think of all the tens of thousands of innocent Iraqi women and children killed, and mabye in some cases murdered by some stressed-out marines. Bombs still going off everyday. Yeah, the people of Baghdad have great freedom; to walk down the street and get blown up.
  20. That's what the Catholic Church believes. It is also opposed to adultery and birth control and that doesn't bother me any more than its views on gays does. Funny that Jesus never said anything on gays personally. You think he would considering how much of a "sin" it is.
  21. "Imam Qamrul Khanson told the Associated Press the language of Jamal's Friday night prayers had a more strident tone than other prayer leaders', but there was never any talk of terrorism or violence." http://www.cbc.ca/story/canada/national/20...t-suspects.html I guess it depends on which news source you trust. At least CBC named the source.
  22. Do you live in Vancouver-Kingsway by any chance??
  23. I believe we were at risk when we went into Afghanistan.
