It's too bad August you don't understand satire.

Ok. Well, 100 percent of the U.S. invasion was a result of Saddam Hussein's failure to comply with U.N. resolutions and the cease-fire he agreed to back in 1991. Please read your history. From the un security counsel: In the leadup to the meeting, it became apparent that a majority of UNSC members would oppose any resolution leading to war. As a result, no such resolution was put to the Council.. In layman terms, Bush invaded a country illegally.

That's not the American way. They go in guns ablazin' and ask questions later.

What part of unannounced and surprise do you not understand? http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,199252,00.html

Newbie, one could just as easily say that your right to smokeless air ENDS WHERE A SMOKER SMOKES. That is how we defined the world 50 years ago. And incidentally, it is how we define the world now for car drivers. Car drivers can pollute the air with fumes and noise at will. They own the atmosphere. This is such a useless thread. I agree with you tho about the invisible line, and it blurs sometimes like peeing in the pool. But it is a medical and scientific fact that smoking will harm you and potentially those around you. Why not err on the side of health? And the car thing, yeah, it's bad. But any reduction in air pollution is a good thing. We all benefit. This can't be good for anyone: http://images.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=http...6lr%3D%26sa%3DN

Sorry, the last time I checked using data for Ontario, cigarette smokers paid through tobacco taxes for all the additional costs to the public health system of their habit. In fact, they paid more and subsidized the non-smokers. Not in every part of Canada.

Bush shows up unannounced in Iraq. Tell me who runs this country again? http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060613/ap_on_...bush_security_1

You advocate this? Accepting any actions to be moral without judgement?
-
Again, the right to smoke ENDS WHERE I BREATHE. Why is that a trampling of human rights. It is a public health issue, but I suppose you think those are immoral organizations. Smokers cost taxpayers huge with their cancers and other related illnesses due to their self-indulgent behavioiur. Remember, you smokers used to be in the majority.

Pliny, it seems to me you are over analyzing. Being open is just that, not taking everything you hear, read and see as gospel truth; seeing the other side of the story, not buying the status quo but questioning it, testing it. To me it is a very positive attribute. There is always the danger of indecisiveness, but consider the negative and narrowness of being close-minded. That to me can breed intolerance, hatred and much anger and frustration. Just a different look at it.

Yep, no shortage of the kind of folks that she appeals to. -
Uh, first of all it is NEWS. And the CBC does report the NEWS. Imagine, an attack on font size FGS. What's next, subminal messages? Added: For the sake of argument, look at the lead stores here: Tories rule out new anti-terror powers http://www.canada.com/topics/news/national/index.html Terror suspects subject to torture http://www.ctv.ca/ Whoa, check out those fonts. Warning: Major brainwashing on three main news sources.

U.S. Contractors making a killing in Iraq
newbie replied to GostHacked's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Why do you think Haliburton moved off-shore? Because it's lucrative dealing with rogue states and profitting from U.S. intiated wars. -

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/5068606.stm "Asymmetrical warfare"! Methinks the Rear Admiral was talking out of his asymmetrical behind here. That sure was a sneaky and dirty trick to pull though, killing yourself. Just think, if every Muslim were to do this the threat would be insurmountable and the allied forces would crumble under a wave of creative, asymmetrical suicides.

Pretty hard to indoctrinate open minded people.

It's been right leaning since I joined.

That's okay Gerry. The right sometimes has trouble with satire that picks on their point of view. They can sure hand it out though in spades.

Why don't we retitle this thread "PARANOIA!"
-
I know you were responding to River but your comments disturb me. I could say don't be so close-minded conservative that you lose sight of human rights. Sorry if I sound rude, but to link one being open minded or liberal to one having little morality is ludicrous.

Interesting article. Gee, why would the good ole USA want a base in Iraq? Hmmm. http://today.reuters.com/news/newsArticle....ESS-FUNDING.xml

Wrong. A child is better off having a mother and father, instead of two mothers or two fathers. A mother and father each bring unique characteristics and experiences that cannot be gained from two women and two men. It's common sense. It's also nature. I can't believe this is even debated. So black and white. How about a child raised with a father constanly beating his wife and/or other children? Are you telling me you'd accept that over a child raised under a relationship with 2 loving parents of the same gender? Think outside the box once in awhile.

Glad you enjoyed them. It is quite amusing to see the left (of which I am a part) go crazy everytime this broad opens her mouth. I used to be very enraged with her stupid and insensitve comments, but that what she feeds off. The right buys her books because she "attacks" the left. Her books are only entertainment though as they are totally inaccurate and garbage as far as factual content.
