Liberal family values for our children
mcqueen625 replied to Gord S.'s topic in Federal Politics in Canada
“Liberal values” · Liberal values include the Age of Consent that endorses 14 year olds (junior high school children) having sex with 50 year olds. The Liberals made a coalition with the NDP and Bloc to oppose every effort to date by the Conservative Party of Canada to raise the Age of Consent from 14 years to at least 16 years. The Liberals are leaving children unprotected by law from sexual predation by adults. · Liberal values mean women have the right to become a prostitute. To stand on any street corner in front of children, while cars circle and John’s harass innocent young girls waiting for the bus. The Liberal Party of Canada’s last policy convention adopted a resolution calling for the decriminalization of prostitution. Is this the career option you want for your children and grandchildren? · Liberal values support the Young Offenders Act that allows convicted 17-year-old rapists and gang members to walk the streets anonymously. Liberals opposed Conservative efforts to amend the Young Offenders Act, which provides 17 year-old repeat violent offenders absolute anonymity on our nation’s streets. · Liberal values allow women to drink and take drugs while pregnant. Thousands of children are born with physical and mental defects. [Of individuals with FAE between the ages of 12 and 51, · 95% will have mental health problems; · 68% will experience trouble with the law; · 55% will be confined in prison, drug or alcohol treatment centre or mental institution; · 52% will exhibit inappropriate sexual behaviour http://www.fasworld.com/facts.ihtml ] Conservative values are my values! . <{POST_SNAPBACK}> As a middle aged mom, the age of consent issue really gets my back up! And the 17 year old young offender...we have one here who beat a boy to death with his friends but because he turned 18 the day AFTER he did it, he is protected under the young offenders act! That is just BS! It makes no sense 14 is old enough to have sex but 17 is still too young to face trial as an adult? If a 14 year old is old enough to make RESPONSIBLE decisions about sex, why is the 17 year old not RESPONSIBLE for their actions? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> For our federal government to pass at their policy convention legalization of prostitution smacks of exactly what they did with Same Sex marriage, this government simply seems to be following the Netherlands, who has had free usage of Marijuana & Hashish in bars for a number of years. They have also had legalized prostitution, and same-sex marrriages. Belgium followed suit with this liberalization, and an article on the Canadian Free Press dated October 31st stated that the European Union in Brussels has just just passed a new grammer rule for themselves and the Netherlands--making it official that the name "Christ" will soon be written in lower case "c". The article stated that this was the stipulation in an orthography reform published earlier in October in Brussels. This article went so far as to state that the new spelling stipulations will also extend to the names of different religious denominations. For instance the article cited the fact that the Dutch word for "jews" (joden) be spelled with a capital "J" when referring to nationality and with a lower-case "j" when referring to the religion. The article went on to state that these changes will be mandatory in August 2006, although there is as yet no description of fines offenders will face if they keep spelling Christ with a capital "C". http://www.canadafreepress.com/2005/cover103105.htmCanadian, American, World News Since the laws that Canada has enacted with this Liberal government seem to have been taken almost directly from the EU's playbook, is this where a Liberal government is taking Canada, and making Canada into a secular society by the introduction of legislation to enforce these kinds of things. Issues like the above and those that you mentioned are the exact reasons why I cannot support a Liberal Government. -
It makes me suspicious whenever a business or economics so-called expert says that any free trade deal has helped Canada. Look around at the many manufaturing jobs that disappeared from Canada immediately upon signing of the FTA. Companies like Carter Pen Company who almost immediately closed their manufacturing plants in Ontario and Quebec, and moved those operations south of the border. Carter Pen did own trade names like Gillette, Wilkenson Sword, PaperMate, Marks-a-Lot, Carter's Inks, and many other trademark standards. Oh yes, they immediately denied that the closures had anything to do with the FTA but any thinking person knows that those two things were directly linked. Many other companies moved their operations as well, and hundreds of thousands lost good paying jobs. I remember at the time reading articles stating that in order for us to become competive and survive we needed to take on a more service sector type role. Many of those jobs have since been replaced by those service sector jobs, but at much lower rates of pay than these worker's previously made. Along came NAFTA and even more jobs left Canada, but they also packed up and left the U.S. as well creating a the situation we now have where people are now working for pre-80's wage levels when taxes and inflation are taken into consideration. In other words Canadian's are far worse off financially today, than they were even ten year's ago. Those much touted service sector jobs as well as manufacturing jobs are now disappearing to third world countries like India, China, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, etc. etc. etc., and the only one's praising the trade agreements are corporations and their puppet governments who signed those deals. If you want to know how great those deals are for ordinary Canadian's ask one of those workers who are now working retail, because their well paying manufacturing jobs have left the country. Let's get real, Free Trade was a concept designed by ecomomist's and business majors as a way to save corporations money and allowed them to maximize their profits, for the owners, executives and shareholders. These people could care less that for many Canadian's and American's a monthly norm is now a trip to the local food bank, and in some cases a daily trip to the local soup kitchen because wages have become so low and the cost of living so high that there is not enough disposable income left with which to purchase food & in the case of senior's both food and medications. Do these corporate owner's care about what they have done to ordinary Canadian's? Of course they don't care because they have succeeded in having their government puppets, lower their tax burdens to a level that they are no longer paying a fair share of the costs associated with running the country. Owner's such as Paul Martin's family, and Mulroney before him think only of tehmselves, and let's not forget the Irving's who have moved their assets offshore so the tax man cannot get to them. Even our PM's family business has flagged their ships in a foreign country to avoid Canadian taxes. Our tax regulations are designed to favour the rich, while the poor starve, and pay for what the corporation refuse to pay, thanks to the Mulroney's and the Mattin of this world. Has Free Trade been good for Canada? Not in this lifetime, and it's just a matter of time before these corporation welfare bums run out of people to sell their products to. People who make low wages or have no jobs do not tend to buy manufactured products, and right now it has reached a point where many Canadian's are simply living from pay-cheque to pay-cheque, and in between using credit cards and lines of credit to keep the wolf (bill colloectors) from the door. When the credit cards are maxed and the lines of credit are not there this whole house of cards is going to come crashing down, corporations and government's are going to go bankrupt, and for what? Greed!!!

Last time I checked it was only Quebec who continues to threaten separation, and it is only Quebec who continues to send representatives to our National Capital who's only goal seems to be the break-up of Canada. I just wish they would quit whining and just leave, and on their way out they can make sure they take the likes on Martin, Chretien, Mulroney, Cotler with them. I noticed that these separatist's don't refuse to accept jobs from this terrible federal government, nor does their separatist MP's refuse to accept dirty Canadian money in the form of salaries and the Gold-plated pension and benefits packages. If they have such distain for Canada then maybe they should just restart the revolution. Sorry, they already tried didn't they way back when the good old FLQ was active. Well maybe they should reactivate, and try again. I mean if they really have the courage and guts for it, or did the last time make them crawl back into their holes, like the cowards they really are. Real brave, to have people kill unarmed people, but when the troops went in they folded like a cheap deck of cards, and some fled to Cuba.

Was the Liberal Party a Criminal Organization?
mcqueen625 replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
It seems the federal Liberal Party feels entitled to do whatever it is they please and should not be held accountable by Canadian's. They are not even offering an apology to Canadian's with an election looming, all they seem to be doing is trying to act indignant at being caught with their proverbial hands in the cookie jar, and attacking the Conservatives and anyone elese that suggests they are not fit to govern Canada. As for telling us what they will do for us if re-elected, they seem to having nothing on the plate except more of teh same old corruption. Rather than cleaning up the mess Martin is contributing to it. After 12 years, it is time for a change, and I would suggest that all of this fear-mongering which seems to be Martin's only defense against the Conservatives is nothing but smoke and mirrors to get back in power. Martin can speculate and fear monger all he wants but for the last 12 years it was not the Conservatives who wer defrauding and stealing taxpayer's money, it was the Liberal's and I don't really care what their lofty motivation was. The point is Stephen Harper has never been given a chance to govern, and until he is given a chance to see what he can do to clean up this mess, speculation and fear-mongering is just that speculation and fear mongering. Certainly Martin has done nothing to clean it up, in fact the Liberal mindset of entitlement has just continued under Martin's watch, and as for taking responsibility for any of it, he simply tries to distance himself from it. martin talks about being the only one who can defend our scared trust Medicare, and what do we have? We have private hospitals opening charging a membership fees and annual dues for those who can afford to pay for private healthcare. Now we have the owner of this private hospital planning to build 37 more membership hospitals right across Canada. All this while our supposed defenders of Public care sit idly by and allow it to happen. It won't be long before Medicare disappears and is replaced with private healthcare facilities, and for those of us who cannot afford care or the insurance that cover's such care, we will simply die outside it's doors, and Martinites will be paying their membership fees to be looked after medically. -
Whether the polls say Canadian's don't want an election or not, the point is that with the motion that was passed by the majority of sitting MP's it really means that we have no choice whether we have an election or not, and neither does the G.G., simply because without the support of the majority, government business cannot get done. It's quite obvious that Paul Martin wants to hang onto power any way he can. It also tells me that this is not about working for the people, this is about Martin and is own ego. He refused to admit that he does not have a majority and therefore really has no mandate from the people to govern in the first place. I think our political system needs to be changed to a proportional style of government similar to what PEI is about to hold a referendum on. Those in power obviously don't want to change a system that has worked for them for decades, but has not been working for the people of for true democracy. I think we also need to switch to some type of fixed terms, and similar to the U.S. whereby 2 terms in office and you're out. That should apply not just to the Prime Minister, but to Premier's and MLA's alike. In the case of MLA's their terms could be staggered so that not all will be replaced at the same time. If we are going to have a democracy we need to do away with this notion of having career politicians, because it results in what we presently have, people with no vision other than figuring out ways to stay in power. With that I think we also need to purge the bureaucracies starting at the top so that new and fresh ideas are constantling being tried. Certainly what we presently have is not working for anyone but those in office.

I read somewhere that in year's past being a politician was not a career choice. People who served normally left their jobs for a few years to devote those few years to public life, and then they simply returned to their careers. The suggestion in the article was that there was always new blood coming in and old blood going out. Maybe there is some merit to limiting the number of terms in office before one has to step aside. Today we have kids going to university, and graduating with a Political Science Degree, but absolutely no life or work experiences to guide their lives. That to me is akin to having a doctor do major surgery on me without having any clinical knowledge or experience other than what he/she learned out of a textbook. Yet we elect to office people who have no practical life experiences in order to guide their decisions. We have a Tory MLA in NB who according to his own government Bio has virtually no real job experience except as a financial planner for about a year or so after graduation from University. He blindly seems to play follow the leader and tries to avoid public questioning without scripted responses. Since he is the only Tory left in this certain area of the province and speculation is that he will be defeated next election if the dogcatcher runs in opposition to him. This is my point, I think we need to have people come into politics, attempt do do what it is they have set out to do, in at most 6 - 8 years then go back to their normal professions or jobs. As the article I read suggests, career politicians breeds both contempt and arrogance towards the electorate, but it also breeds corruption.

mcqueen625 replied to Durgan's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
I have taken the time to consider everything you have mentioned, but it still doesn't change the fact that basically one province out of 10 province and the Territories, gets to decide who is going to dictate this country. If Canada were truly a democracy we would have equal representation from each province. As well, we would have an elected Senate, since they are after all, supposed to be the institution to offer sober second thought, but the reality is that they are simply a rubber-stamp for any and all legislation sent to them. Why wouldn't they be, they are appointed by the very P.M. that they are supposed to scrutenizing, and for the most part their appointment is a reward for Party loyalty, and has nothing whatsoever to do with possessing certain qualifications, all that is required is to have been loyal to whatever Party the present P.M. represents. The same thing can be said for our appointed unaccountable Judiciary who by the way Paul Martin has actually passed legislative decision making to. Paul Martin just before the last election stated; As far as I'm concerned the Supreme Court IS the final say in this country." I'm sorry, but the last time I checked I did not vote for a Supreme Court Justice, I voted for an M.P., and if those elected MP's are now not responsible for the final decisions in this country, then I would suggest that we are in fact not a democracy at all, but simply a dictatorship run by a bunch of appointees to the Supreme Court, most of which were card carrying Liberals before accending to the Bench. Under the present system we are stuck with these appointees up to the age of 75 years old, if they so choose. If we are going to turn this thing around, I would suggest that the Senate be abolished as redundant, the Supreme Court Judiciary either become elected, or have specific terms in office not exceeding 5 years. -
Imparting democracy to other countries is like imparting self-esteem to someone, if you don't have it or believe it it yourself you simply cannot impart it. Canada, contrary to popular belief is not a democracy and never was, we are a constitutional monarchy in which the crown (Parliament, the Senate, and now the Supreme Court) have all of the power and the people have none. Think about it! In reality we get to elect new dictators every time an election is called. We have no recall system where a government can be removed from power if they are not living up to their promises. We are simply stuck with them until their mandate runs out, and that folks is not democracy! In fact what influence we had in government disappeared with the passage of the Charter, because it bestowed on our appointed, and unaccountable judiciary the ability to order our elected politicians around. They can order Parliament to change certain laws, and even go so far as to tell them how those laws are to read. This is not democracy. The fact is what we have right now is a government being run by a corporate agenda. Paul Helyer, stated in his book, "The Evil Empire"; "If the people of Canada think for one minute that their elected politicians are making the decisions in this country, they are living in fantasyland." Paul Helyer's contention is that these decisions are in reality being made by multinational corporations who's only goal is driven by how much profit they can generate, and they don't want government's to have the ability to interfere with those profits. Is anyone really naive enough to think people like Paul Martin gives two hoots about the ability of Canadian's to better their lots in life. The reality is that Paul Martin and his family owned corporations have basically moved those operations offshore so the Canadian taxman cannot get their hands on his money. His ships are for the most part registered in Burmuda or some such country, but not in Canada. Years ago K.C. Irving moved the family assets to Bermuda and made it a stipulation in his will that his offspring, in order to inherit would have to do so in Bermuda, so estate taxes could not be collected. I'm sure if more Canadian $billionaires were scrutinized we would find similar stories.

Your thoughts on *the* referendum..10 years later.
mcqueen625 replied to Semperfi_dani's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Just think, had they voted to separate 10 years ago, we would have been rid of the likes of Chretien, and Martin as well since their riding were in Quebec and they would no longer have had a seat in Canada's Parliament. We would not now be saddled with the liberal and feeble-minded judiciary appointed by both Chretien and Martin over the last 10 years. Quebec would not have had the $ Billions of Canadian taxpayer's dollars thrown at them over that same time-frame, and they would by now reduced to third world status, likely begging to re-enter the Canadian federation. That said I don't feel after the relavations of the various scandals this government has perpetrated on the Canadian people that Canada is even worth saving at this point. We really have nothing to patriotic about. We have a federal government that acts as if Canada ends at the Ontario/Manitoba border in the West, and at the Quebec/New Brunswick border of the East, and any areas outside those two province does not seem to matter to Ottawa. That said in the case of Alberta, Martin would love to find some way to suck the riches from that Western region so he can keep Quebec happy. It may well be time to look at this country and decide whether it is worth belonging to. -
Canada criticized for failing its poor
mcqueen625 replied to mirror's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
How did the aboriginal peoples get dragged into this? There are just as many of other races receiving some sort of Income Assistance, and still the biggest welfare bums in the country is still the corporate sector, because they feel no sense of obligation to the poor and starving in this country or in the third world where they have moved many of our jobs to. Yet they continue to demand lower taxes on the properties they still own here in Canada. I think a step in the right direction would be the burning of bot the FTA, and NAFTA, along with any other trade agreements they have signed or are about to sign, and instead put tariffs on all products entering from third world countries, and just sit back and watch a bunch of corporate bums do a meltdown they will be so upset. As Canadian's we are stupid. Instead of checking out the labels on clothing and other manufactured goods and placing them back onto the shelf if they are not manufactured in Canada, we are picking them up and going to checkout withour a thought to the fact that the manufacturer's label for that product once stated, "Made in Canada." -
Canada criticized for failing its poor
mcqueen625 replied to mirror's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I don't know about the rest of you but I am tired of being lied to by these right wing governments, and these right wing fronts for the corporate community like the Fraser Institute. I actually think all these think tanks should be abolished and they should all be investigated by our governments. Every week they churn out their drivel in the corporate press often with no explanation of who they are and who they represent. All these economists and accountants will tell you things are booming in Canada. Well where, and for whom? These facts speak for themselves. Many, many Canadians are worse off than they have ever been. It is time to put an end to this corporate takeover of our society, with their special tax loopholes and get a government that is going to look after all segments of society, not just the rich and powerful, because Canadians are not being protected and way too many are falling between the cracks. I sit here and listen to a lot of you drone on about tax cuts. Absurd. If we can't protect our citizens with the money the government presently takes in then let's raise taxes, not lower them. Our leaders are failing us big time across this land. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The problem with raising taxes as you suggest will just make it worse for the very poor, and working poor in this country, because government's are not about to bite the hand that feeds them, namely the multinational corporations. Any tax raise will hit you-know-who, and I don't mean their business friends. -
Nothing has changed, but then Gomery was never given a mandate to find criminal fault, so what can we expect. As far a Martin being exonerated, I say B.S., because if nothing else during the sponsorship program Martin was the most powerful Cabinet Minister, being Finance Minister, and he SHOULD have known what was going on, and if he didn't, he was not doing the job he was paid to do. Either way, regardless of what Gomery says, Paul Martin was untimately responsible for the taxpayer's money that was stolen right from underneath his nose. I'm sure if he had executive member's stealing from Canada Steamship Lines or one of his other companies he would have been more vigilent, and made an effort to find out what was going on, but since this money helped get him into 24 Sussex Drive, he forgot to asked where all the money came from.

What are you talking about when you say the Conservatives let it slip through their fingers? It was the NDP and the Bloc who kept the Liberals afloat as long as this, not the Conservatives. God help Canada if the people of Ontario put this bunch of thieves back into office, and God help the NDP who think they have deals in place with the Liberal's, because if the Liberal's achieve a clear majority, those promises could turn out to be nothing but smoke, and Layton, the NDP and the Bloc will look like what they are, fools.

Myself, I could care less about HBC, simply because they have no real presence in my province other than through their ownership of Zellers. I stopped shopping at Zellers, when they bought out K-Mart, and converted the stores to Zellers outlets. When WalMart came to my city I totally stopped shopping Zellers because of the lousy service at the Zeller's stores. I have heard the running joke about Zellers is that a person could fire a cannon down through the store and never have to worry about hitting a staff member. On the other hand upon entering WalMart everywhere you look there are staff member to assist a person to find what they are looking for, and once the item is found there is usually someone in that department who can intelligently answer any questions one might have about the product. Service like that from my experience is totally lacking at Zellers.

How about David Suzuki? He is very intellectual and a person who seems to really care about the future of Canada's environment.

mcqueen625 replied to Bakunin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I would think that Quebec will not want anything to do with the petitioning of Quebec by those who want to remain part of Canada, specifically the people of Northern Quebec, namely the aboriginal people, and it will be the responsibility of the Canadian Government and the Canadian military if necessary to protect the rights of those Canadian's. Such a scenario would require the immediate replacement of ALL politician's from the Province of Quebec, since they would not only no longer be Canadian, but the seats they now occupy in the House of Commons would no longer exist, since Quebec would no longer be part of Canada. It would interesting to see just what kind of spin Paul Martin might want to put on such a scenario in order to remain in power. The loss of him and his family would be no loss to Canada since most of the family's assets are foreighn registered to avoid paying taxes in Canada. Taxes I might add that funds the social safety net that Paul Martin himself professes to hold sacred. Too bad he and his family shows so little financial committment to this country. -

What a great idea Eureka, but now you're attracting the defenders of the Charter, the Supreme Court Justices, who were themselves appointed to their jobs, at the public trouth. Ha. Ha!. No kidding though I think that is a great idea. If Quebec wants to continue sending politicians to Ottawa who's sole purpose is the break-up of Canada, then the people of Quebec should bear the expenses for these separtist's not the rest of Canada. -

You must be very insecure that you have to take every opportunity to engage in anti-Americanism. Get a life, will you! Canadian's don't have a lot to be proud of either since we keep electing a federal government that is proven to be the most corrupt in our history, and still they continue to carry on as if there was no public outrage. Maybe because they know that the people of Ontario are stupid and will vote them back in anyway. It is a sad day when one province only can decide who is going to sit in government at the federal level. It certainly doesn't say very much about Canada as a democracy. -
Americans watching Canadian shows?
mcqueen625 replied to Big Blue Machine's topic in Canada / United States Relations
As I have been saying all along, American productions are not subsidized with taxpayer's dollars and should not be subsidized here either. The shows you have mentioned may be doing well in the U.S. because they are quality shows, and can make it on their own merits. That said there is much on Canadian television that is not fit to watch, and wouldn't have even been produced had it not been for the injection of taxpayer's dollars, and much of that is on CBC. CBC especially, as far as I'm concerned should receive a budget to produce a national news service, but nor enough to produce full blown productions. If they want to continue to produce or air these productions they should be made to operate similar to PBS, where individuals subscribe to keep the network on the air. Other braodcasters in Canada are also receiving subsidies from the federal coffers to produce utter crap, but I contend subsidies for television productions should be funded by interested individuals and corporations, not the taxpayers of this country. Our tax dollars would be better spent on cutting payroll taxes and putting more disposable income back into the hands of the working poor in this country, and just maybe these people would not have to rely on food banks to make ends meet. -
Banana republic???? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes I have heard in other formats Canada being referred to as nothing but a Banana republic, and I must say I agree with that statement. What do we expect when we continue to send a government to Ottawa who has shown every Canadian that they cannot be trusted with taxpayer's money. They lie, they steal, the defraud, they are corrupt, in fact they give new meaning to the term corrupt, and they take it to a whole new meaning. People demonize Stephen Harper as being scary when he has never had a chance to either prove or disprove that contention, and they instead go to the polls and elected again to power the most corrupt group of politicians this country has ever seen. I don't get it, we continue to piss and moan about things like Sponsorship Program, HRDC missing $ Millions, and other instances of corruption and outright theft, yet the people of Ontario and the Maritimes send representative of the Liberla Party right back to Ottawa to continue pillaging the National Treasury. When is enough going to be enough? I'm sure I don't have the answer to that one.
-
I have not yet read the decision, but this CBC story helps quite a bit in answering Argus's original concerns. The decision does not really make new law, nor does it compel immigration officials to permit these applicants...it just sends it back to be re-decided by different officers...AND the reason for sending it back is to reconsider the merits of the decision in light of the wealthy individuals' commitments to personally pay for any services their disabled children may need. I guess the point is if the only reason to deny the applicants is the potential financial burden their kids will place on our society...and there is a way to completely remove that concern...then maybe they should not be refused. As far as the general criticisms of the SCC being able to trump Parliament you have one particular person to thank for that...Trudeau. Although it is not fair to put all of the blame on him, because the Charter (the atomic bomb of Judicial Activism) does have the fabled "notwithstanding clause" which allows Parliament to veto anything the SCC or any other court does. Unfortunatley, because we have so little principle or integrity in our government (and I mean as a whole, not just the current Liberal one) there's not a politician in the nation who will actually invoke it because it is potential political suicide. Ralph Klien has threatened it a number of times, but never followed through...and Stephen Harper has hinted at it at times and that has branded him as too scary to be PM. Government would much rather pass the buck (e.g. gay marriage issue) and then say "hey, not my fault...its the Charter and the SCC...what do you expect me to do, my job!?!?!?" FTA Lawyer <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I disagree because Harper said that the Notwithstanding clause was put into the Charter for a reason and should be used when the court's go too far. On the other hand Martin stated quite clearly just before the last election that as far as he was concerned the Supreme Court of Canada WAS the final say in this country. To me that is abandoning his responsibility to govern this country to a bunch of socially activist judges that for the most part were appointed by either himself of Chretien, and those appointment's came about because these lawyers were political hacks and their appointements were simply rewards for services rendered. I must also remind everyone that these judiciary appointees are not accountable to the people of this country for any hardship they may cause to this country due to their asinine rulings, and it appears that Martin and his roving band of morons are quite content to allow these appointees to continue running this country. The cure of course if to scrap the Charter, and replace it with a document that truly makes these judges accountable for every decision they make. Of course then you may actually have potential appointees refusing appointments, because it is quite obvious that none of them would want to be held accountable to the people of this country.

Canadians fighting in Iraq...
mcqueen625 replied to Montgomery Burns's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
If the US shoots and paralyzes one of these Canadian terror supporters, will the Canadian taxpayer, again, be forced to pay for this terrorist's medical bills and therapy for the rest of his life? Let Osama pay his bills. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Iraq is a warzone where people are taking positions that they believe in. To answer your question, should Canadian taxpayers have to pay for a Canadian citizen who fights against the U.S., the answer is simple: whether or not we support them if they are Canadian citizens and the government will not revoke their citizenship...do we have much choice? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I would suggest that these Canadians they are talking about are more than likely people who have immigrated to Canada from some Arab country and are now back over in the Middle East basically involving themselves in a war that as Canadian's they have no business being involved in unless of course they are member's of the Canadian Armed Forces and they are fighting as part of a Canadian unit =sanctioned by our government. Otherwise they should be on their own, and if they are originally from a Middle East country they should be made to choose, either Canada or their country of birth. If they continue to involve themselve in fighting against a Canadian ally then their Canadian citizenship should be revoked immediately and they should not be allowed to reenter Canada, ever. -

If you ask me, a good many of our politicians are using something illegal, just look at many of the asinine programs that have been started by our politicians. One of the newly minted Senator's, the former Mayor of Vancouver, wanted to pass out clean mouthpieces for crack pipes and I read somewhere he wanted these people to be able to smoke this illegal substance at the government sanction Methadone Clinic so they would be safe. And this is the tye of nutcase we are elevating to the Senate. Little wonder the cry is growing louder and louder to abolish this institution for Party hacks, who also happen to be morons. -
Good one Montgomery. Cnada has far more to lose than does trhe United States. I would love to know what energy Martin is talking about when he says they will sell it elsewhere besides the U.S. For starters if he tries to tell Alberta who to sell THEIR oil to he may find that Alberta can afford to pack it in with Canada at any time, while on the other hand if they did pack it in Ottawa would have no money to give away to their friend's in the Advertising agencies of Quebec and Ontario., let alone pay for any of the other jalf baked initiatives this Liberal government has found to waste taxpayer's dollars. Let's start by looking at the failed Gun Registry that I believe has already surpassed $2 Billion, and when it was announced it was supposed to cost $2 Million and then be self-sufficient. This fiasco will never be self-sufficient and they knew that going in, but chose to ignore that fact to satisfy a bunch of urban reactionist's in Quebec. Besides the fact that this Registry has not prevented one criminal from committing murder, simply because these crimes are usually committed with unregistered weapons, and usually with hand-guns which have been restricted in Canada since 1934.

It amazes me that people would rather hang onto the most corrupt government in our history. Even our Liberal politicians think it okay to continue on with their corruptive policies. Dingwall is an example of that free-spending mindset, and perceives that he has done nothing wrong. Of course he hasn't if we are to believe that Jean Chretian, Paul Martin and the rest of those Liberal crooks did nothing wrong. We have absolutely nothing to be proud of when we get compared to being like a banana republic. The real problem is that the Liberla's think they have a God given right to govern this country, and that they can do no wrong! How egotistical and arrogant can they get, and we, stupid Canadian's just carry on as if the country is in great steads. Wake-up Canada! The NDP are no better because not only did they help keep this corrupt government in power they actively lobbied against any tax relief for ordinary Canadian's, when we are one of, if not the highest taxed peoples in the Industrialized World.
