Well see, thing is I support efforts to do right by Canada's native population to make some kind of amends for the legacy of genocide and theft we continue to benefit from today. (Also: my predeccessors here didn't steal anything. That job was done by the time they arrived). As for the absurd claim that "the Jews had been there before," that assumes some kind of direct lineage between the former occupants of the land that is now Israel and Palestine and the people who founded the modern state of Israel who were mostly European Jews who would be hard pressed to find any connection to the land beyond sharing a religion with the former occupants. By the same logic, one could argue for the return of the Caliphate (after all, much of what is now the West was once Muslim territory). Try reading for comprehension. it is the actions which led to the creation of Israel's state, and subsequent action on the part of said state that are the source of fear and hatred. I made that pretty clear in my earlier post. keep trying to hang that anti-semetism tag onme, though. I'd hate to deprive you of what seems to be your sole joy. Bollocks. Israel has just as much right to a state in that part of the world as do the Palestinians, Syrians, Jordanians, because both cultures ancestors are from there. What right does Palestine, Iran and Syria in firing rockets targeting cities, towns and villages in Israel filled with civilians? Of course Russia and France and Germany condenm Israelis right to defend themselves because they are making a fortune selling weaponry and other commodites to that part of the world. These countries have always backed the terrorists, why should anything change just because Hamas and Hezbellah are targeting inocent civilians, after all they are only Jewish? I suspect not much has changed since WW II for Germany with regards to Jews. I wonder how they would be reacting now if these same terrorists were targeting their civilian populations? I suspect they would wage war, all except the pansies in France who turned over their country to Germany with hardly a shot being fired. The word cowards comes to mind.

Or someone could just nuke Israel and solve the whole problem. Oh wait! That would make one an "anti-semite". But if you're talking about ethnic cleansing of any other race, that's totally cool. In all seriousness, I'm sure turning Israel into an armed camp would make it oh-so much more attractive to potential investors and immigrants. Not to mention the burden it would place on the economy. It would be cute, though, like a little North Korea in the Middle East. Only Jewish. Bottom line here is that any initiative undertaken by Israel such as the pull-out from Gaza has resulted in both the Palestinians, Syria, Iran, and now Hezbollah in Lebanon thinking that somehow Israel is weak. Hamas is running the Palestinian State and their stated goal is the elimination of Israel from the face of the earth. They then they send troops into Israeli territory to kill and kidnap, and shoot rockets into Israeli communities, and they are surprised that Israel is retaliating, what is wrong with these nuts. Israel had every right to consider the first attack after Hamas was sworn in as an act of war, and go into Palestine and clean house, but Israel still showed restraint, and I'm not sure why when their people are being killed by state sponsored military from Palestine. Now we have Lebanon (Syria) becoming involved with their own attacks with Hezbellah fighters. All bets should be off and now Israel should consider any attack by another country in that region as an act of war and take all measures to protect themselves. Iran is quite likely helping to fund these incursions into Israel and maybe it is time for Israel to strike preemptively to prevent Iran from getting directly involved. We need to stop being sorry for the Palestinians because they are bringing on their own grief by first electing a terrorist organization to lead them, and now cheering and celebrating every time an Israeli get killed. Maybe Israel should just do what the stated goal of Hamas is toward Israel and wipe Palestine and all of her citizens off the face of the earth. We need to ask where has the United Nations been whenever Palestian's fire rockets into Israeli villages and towns, and why it is that the idiot Koffi Annan seems to have a biased opinion and continually demands that Israel show restraint. I read an article on the Canadian Free Press which stated that as Israel was in the process of pulling out of Gaza the U.N. paid for a bumper sticker campaign in favour of Palestine. These bumper stickers, banners, etc., were handed out to Palestinian youth and young adults and they bore the slogan; TODAY-GAZA-TOMORROW-THE-WEST-BANK-AND-JERRUSALEM. What is this wanabe world government doing taking sides in this dispute? It seems to me that the United States is right-on in their assertions that the U.N. has become irrelevant, and is nothing but an expensive bureaucracy which accomplishes nothing except eat up $Billions. Maybe it is time to disband the U.N. forever. It would be a scary world if the U.N. made the rules. We may all end up living in Islamic States.

I also concur with that statement. The government can be as politically correct as they wish, but many people in Canada do not, and will not accept that two people of the same sex getting united is in any way a marriage, as is traditionally defined by most religions of the world. Now we have EGALE coming out against the proposed legislation to raise the age of consent from 14 to 16. I wonder why that is? No, I am not homophobic and hateful, I just happen to believe that homosexuality is a lifestyle choice, and that no 14 or 15 year old is mature enough mentally to make that kind of choice. Once they reach the age of majority they can do what they want behind closed doors, but I want a law that will not allow some 21+ person being legally allowed to prey on a 14 or 15 year old child. If EGALE is opposed to the concept of raising the age of consent, then I would be quite suspicious as to their opposition to raise the age. I know as a parent I would not want my 14 or 15 year old child, male or female, to be legally able to consent to having sex with an adult. If I found out about it happening to a child of mine, God help the adult, and I don't care what the law states.

Does Japan deserve a UN Security seat?
mcqueen625 replied to windyman's topic in The Rest of the World
They deserve a seat far more than does China or Russia. Both of these countries showed by their reluctance to impose sacnctions on North Korea and Iran just where they stand on world peace, they don't stand at all. All they will go along with is just another statement telling North Korea that their behaviour is unacceptable. That was already done when they fired the last rocket over Japan into the Pacific Ocean. This shows quite clearly that the United Nations is nothing but a huge, expensive bureaucracy whose relavance is questionable at best. Maybe it is time to disband this useless organization who holds itself out as some type of world government. To my mind they have so far ben one huge failure, except in the area of propping up dictatorships and terrorist organizations. -
The big difference between then and now is the fact that now Palestinians were stupid enough to elect a band of terrorists to govern them. Hamas is recognized around the world as a terrorist organization, and they have no diplomatic ties with either the West or the EU. Of course they seem to be recognized by Koffi Annan, because he is real good at overlooking suicide bombers blowing themselves up in crouds of Israeli women and children, but every time Israel tries to protect themselves he asks for restraint. Koffi sounds like most of the world leaders in the run-up to WW II, whci alloed Germany to walk over most of Europe and Africa before Hitler was stopped. The Palestinians should feel lucky that Israel didn't declare the first rocket fired after the election and swearing in of Hamas as a declaration of war by Palestine against Israel and launch a full invasion on any country in the Middle East that is in callaberation with Hamas and supports their terrorist ways. As far as I'm concerned, Israel has just as much right to live peacefully in those lands as does the Palestinians because this land is ancestry land for both peoples. For Hamas or Iran to declare that Israel should be eliminayed off the face of the earth should be unacceptable to the whole world, and it is even more unconscionable for the UN and Koffi Annan to be taking sides in this matter.

I spent a number of years working as a youth worker with young offenders and those young people who are out there wearing the heavy gold chains around their necks and carrying the cell phones and pagers are doing their own thing, and the parents have absolutely no control over these individuals whatsoever. These young adults know exactly what they are doing and they also know that the system will not make them accountable if and when they get caught, because they are young offenders. When I was growing up, myself and several of my friends were caught driving cars around a used car lot on a Sunday afternoon (the keys were left under the floor mats), anyway when the police detectives arrived we were lined up, our ID's were determined, and the two detectives scared us shitless by playing good-cop/bad-cop. One threatened to march us straight to juvenile detention at a training school, but the other kept saying we deserved a chance. Anyway they decided that we had been sufficiently scared so they told us we could leave, but to never come back there. Me being the smart-ass plastered a big sarcastic smirk on my face, and the bad-cop asked me if my father's name was George, and before I could answer him he drifted me with a boot in the ass, and then told me I should go home and tell George that Detective so and so gave me a boot in the ass. Needless to say, I did not ever tell my father, and I never returned to that used car lot. To this day I still remember that tough lesson, and although I have never laid a hand on my kids (now adults), whenever I caught them doing something they suffered the natural consequences of their actions, and they actually thanked me for that. As an example my oldest son used his BB gun to break the windshield out of our neighbour's car. This is the same neighbour who regularly tipped him every week when he collected for paper delivery. My son was made to go next door and admit what he had done and offer to pay for the damages. He was astounded that windshield replacementy cost was $379.00. It took himnearly 6 months to pay off this debt, and he has never forgotten it. He is about to have a son of his own and I'm sure the same values he was taught will be passed down. Unfortunately today most kids are being brought up with an attitude of entitlement enabled by the parents who continually intervene so that the children do not have to live with the natural consequences of their actions. What is this teaching our young people? In my estimation it is teaching them that they can do as they please, when they please, and only if it pleases them to do it, and we wonder why many of our youth have no respect for themselves, let alone any respect for others of their possessions. One yuoung offender I spoke to that had been convictred of B & E's had absolutely no remorse for what he had done. For some reason he thought that this was a victimless crime, because nobody got hurt. His comment was that if the people were too stupid to not have insurance that was their problem. when I expalined the concept of the deductable on those insurance policies and the fact that if he stole their $500.00 stereo and the deductable was $500.00 the onus was on those people to either not replace the stereo or replace it with their own money. This information did not seem to impact his attitude one bit, because he left the group home and continued doing B & E's. I tols one kid it was his choice to come to a group home. He denied that and asked how I figured that. I asked him if he committed the crimes he was convicted for, and when he answered yes, I told him that once he made that choice to break the law he made that choice. Parents today seem to be too busy developing careers and doing their own things to be bothered with what their children are up to, and the system in place has no provisions to make these kids accountable for their own choices. Every time the Liberal government tinkered with the Young Offenders Act they made it more difficult to make kids responsible for their own choices, and progression to the present version is the worst of all.

Age of Consent Hearings Moving Forward
mcqueen625 replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
All law, including criminal law, is only valid and enforceable if the people to whom it applies are willing to follow it. Case in point...the prohibition of alcohol as a colossal failure. Failing to recognize that young teenagers are having sex is foolish. Trying to outlaw it...futile. Putting up reasonable limits which have the effect of putting the onus and responsibility on the older, more mature person in a relationship...relatively sensible. I am in favour of this change...mostly because, at present, our law permits a 12 year old to consent to sex (with someone who is less than 2 years older mind you). 12 is simply too young, in my view, for society to sanction sexual intercourse. By moving the consent age up two years, I'm not convinced that it is wrong to then expand the close-in-age exception to 5 years instead of two. Under the current law, a 14 year old can legally consent to sex with a person of ANY age. A new law where a 14 year old can still consent to sex with someone up to 19 seems reasonable to me. As for the comments about legally drinking, driving and voting...these are simply different issues. Sex is purely biological, none of the other activities are. It is a hell of alot easier to restrict access to car keys (and cars for that matter), booze, and ballots than it is to stop a kid from using their bodies which are fully equipped for sex long before most parents would like. Other legal age limits may make sense (or not) for different reasons, but generally I support the new proposed age for sexual consent. FTA I just thought of something. What are these morons on the Supreme Court going to think of raising the age of consent? It wouldn't surprise me if they rule that it is a violation of the flawed Charter to prohibit sex between an adult and a child. No asinine ruling that comes from this collection of fool's surprises me any more, and according to Paul Martin and Jean Chretien they are the final word in this country. Hence the reason and rationale to elect the judiciary to specific terms in office. At the very least it will make them accountable to the people if they know that the people have the last word not this appointed and undemocratic collection of morons. -
Age of Consent Hearings Moving Forward
mcqueen625 replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
CBCI think this change is long overdue but I think too that it is a little too liberal. I hope one change is made in committee. The close-in-age exception, five years, is too large. I think it should be three or perhaps four years. IMO, this change should be discussed during drafting. Elsewhere, I have seen arguments that we should not use law to deal with social problems. That made me laugh. We use laws to forbid smoking. Here's an instance where it makes a lot more sense to use law since its purpose is to protect people who cannot properly protect themselves. The law makes it impossible for a 25 year old to claim that a 15 year old consented to a sexual relation. Moreover, the law does not forbid 14 year olds from engaging in sexual relations which means that the young will still have legal access to contraceptives and so on. There is also the point that anal sex is still illegal for anyone below the age of 18. I don't think this can be construed as anti-gay. It is the practice that is forbidden, not the sex of the people involved. ---- In crass political terms, the Conservatives have introduced social legislation (part of their so-called scary secret agenda) and it appears to have met with general approval. It may even be too socially liberal. The common sense of this legislation is one piece of evidence that the Conservatives are not wild-eyed kooks. I fully support the lowering of the age of consent, especially in these time of internet stalking. The daughter of a girl I worked with and several of her friends were stalked on the internet by a twice convicted sex offender posing as someone their age. This young girl fortunately was smart and couragous enough to tell her parents, and involved the police. This pervert was actually following the girls with a company van and then would e-mail and threaten that if they didn't meet him to have sex he would destroy their lives. He even e-mailed this girl and told her that he had seen her and some of her friends selling tickets at the mall in support of her team. The girls mother was frightened to death for her daughter because she was with her daughter that evening and saw nobody paying particular attention to the girls. Cybercops in conjunction with others have developed an interactive game to teach youngsters how dangerous the internnet can really be, and this game was modeled after this brave young girl's experience. The game is called Mirror Image, and is being distributed to schools and clubs throughout Canada. Unfortunately one of the girls became so frightened that this piece of s--t would carry through with his threats that she did meet and submit to sex with him. The Crown dropped the ball on this pervert and proceded with charges under summary conviction instead of inditable and the most the judge could sentence was 3 months on each charge. He hit the streets again almost before the ink was dry on the committal warrant. During the victim's impact statement this brave young girl spoke to the most frightening aspect of the whole scenario was the fact that this individual obviously knew what she looked like, but she had no idea what he looked like. Any politician who balks at increasing the age of consent should not be serving as an MP, and should immediately be removed from not only the office of MP, but barred from ever serving on any other quasi-judicial panel again. I would definitely be suspicious of the motivations oof any adult who does not support this legislation. -
Atlantica is simply a concept dreamed up by corporations like the Irving's so that they can more readily move things across the U.S./Canada border. A mini-FTA if you will. This is a concept not only about the Atlantic provinces, but a good part of southern Quebec, and parts of Ontario, as well as the Northeasten United States, like Maine, NH, MA, NY, VT. etc. We just had a conference on this issue held in Saint John, NB at which admission fee was $600.00 per person, and just like the APEC Summit in BC, peaceful protestors were arrested. This is not a concept or political party that should be supported, because one of the goals of Atlantica is the lowering of labour standards to the lowest common denominator. Mr. Irving and his political lap-dogs including the Premier of New Brunswick, Bernard Lord think that this is a great concept. Well if anyone knows anything about the Irving's they do nothing unless there is something in it for themselves. Greed is what motivates proponents of Atlantica.

The Federal Republic of Canada
mcqueen625 replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Point is we don't need a Governor or Lieutenant's, or the Senate for that matter. They are simply outdated trappings of bygone times, and expensive one's at that. Think of the tax-money that would be saved if we done away with those useless positions and all of the bureaucracy surrounding each. -
Chinese Head Tax Compensation
mcqueen625 replied to BubberMiley's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
G & MJohn Crosbie: HansardTrudeau was adamant that the federal government would not pay compensation for past harm. Crosbie takes the same position as Trudeau although he was a member of the Mulroney government that approved the Japanese payout. I tend to agree with Trudeau. If we start to pay compensation, there is no end to the claims of injustice and redress. The government should offer a formal apology. If money is offered, it should be given to build a museum or commemorative centre to record and remind everyone of the injustice. (Incidentally, to my knowledge, the several hundred people arrested, held but never charged under the War Measures Act in 1970-71 were never compensated.) In the 1950s, Germany agreed to pay 3 billion DM to Israel and Jewish organizations. As Crosbie notes, Japan has never paid any compensation to the Chinese or even issued an apology for war crimes committed. The FLQ were Canadian grown terrorists and deserved to be arrested and tried for treason. What did our government do? Allow some to flee to Cuba and come back to start contracting businesses, including the contractor the Jean used. I won't dignify her name using the title of Governor General because of her comtempt for the Queen by ignorantly making herself unavailabler for the Queen's 80th birthday celebration. I'm not in favour of having a Governor General, Liutenant Governor's in the Provinces or the useless Senate for that matter, but as long as we do it is wrong for someone who is appointed to such posts to ignore or snub the very person they are supposed to be representing. -
Chinese Head Tax Compensation
mcqueen625 replied to BubberMiley's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
An apology for wronged people is okay, but financial compensation? It was Chinese immigrants this time, and now the Ukrainian or some other ethnic immigrants are looking for similar compensation. How long do we have to apoligize for something our ancesters did a long time ago. As for financial compensation, I do not think that we should be paying cash because it just gives individuals a reason to get in line with their hand out for free cash even though they may not be entitled. I liken it to compensation paid to supposed victims of Karl Toft, infamous pedophile who when he worked as a guard at Kingsclear Boy's Correctional School where he molested at least 200 boys over a number of years. I agreed with the apology, and I also agreed that those who were molested while in custody should have councelling provided for as long as they need it, but I draw the line at that. I'm not sure how much compensation was paid to each victim, but living in New Brunswick and reading all about the investigation, there were many kids that claimed abuse that Karl Toft said he never touched. The one's he did molest he freely admitted, but many he denied touching them. Rumour has it that some individulas may have made up stories of molestation simply to get some free cash, and how can it be proven they actually were molested unless the perpetrator admits to it. -
How is this not hate, when Israel is only attempting to protect itself. In the linked story Hamas and Fatah have reportedly reached an agreement not to fire rockets into Israel from Gaza, but the armed wing of both Hamas and other militant groups have immediately stated that they are not part of any cease fire, and that they will continue to wage war. http://ca.news.yahoo.com/cbc/s/24062006/3/...ael-report.html If I were the Israeli government I would have considered the first attack after Hamas was sworn in as a declaration of war and wiped the floor with Hamas and their terrorist led government. Abbas is no different than is Hamas because he still refuses to stick up for the fact that Israelis have just as muh right to that area of the world as does the Palestinian peoples. Abbas wants it both ways he wants an independent state called Palestine, but he also wants Palestinian's to have the right to move back to the lands they held before 1967 inside what is now part of Israel. If thar were to happen Israe;is would bu outnumbered in their own country by Palestiniansm, and what security does that offer to Israeli if Israel is full of the very peopple who are out to eliminare the Jewish state period? To me it is akin to opening tyhe door of the hen house and allowing a family of foxes to come in and slaughter all the chickens. In other words there would be no secure Israel. I think Israel is fighting for their right to exist just as Palestinians are and if both countries are ever to have safety and security the Hamas and other extremist groups idea of enihalating Israel must stop for good, otherwise there can be no hope for peace and whether you want to admit it or not, Israel has the weapons and the superiority to win any war with the Palistinians.

It also has this: "Free and democratic society" and "Principles of fundamental justice" are terms open to interpretation. And since this Court seems to like post-modern free association, God knows what direction they'll take. For those interested, here's the Charter. I usually dislike making comparisons to the US but here's an instance where I will, in part because the US Bill of Rights is an enviable standard. (The Bill of Rights is rightly all about protecting a minority individual against the collective majority.) But the US Court has an out too (with much less wiggle room): US ConstitutionDespite the wiggle room, I expect that a US Supreme Court will eventually strike down the Patriot Act. If our Supreme Court strikes down Security Certificates, I'll bet it will be in a fit of pique for a Conservative government - certainly not out of any clear principle. I have absolutely no faith in those morons taking up space in the Supreme Court. I think that rather than thme being appointed they should be elected to specific terms of office. Right now the only criteria is that they be lawyers (liars) and that they belong to the Party in power. They are nothing more than political hacks who who where their pay-cheques come from, and they will follow the agenda of the government that appointed them to serve. Our elected officials have no right adbicating their responsibility to an appointed, undemocartic bunch of individuals. When you have the Prime Minister saying that as far as he is concerned the Supreme Court is the final word in this country, that is wrong, wrong, wrong. It smacks of dictatorship, and government without representation.

China domestic animals are raised to be killed for their fur
mcqueen625 replied to a topic in Federal Politics in Canada
With the level of taxation in Canada, many of our own residents may have to resort to doing the same thing in order to stay warm. I could care less about their stupid animals, and the only animal I can get excited about that is being abused in China is their own people. -
My concern about Venezeula, and Chevez is the fact that he is buying up large caches of armaments from Russia such as fighter jets, and he is actually opening a factory to manufacture Russian assault weapons. He has a history of oppressing his own people, and any attempt to further arm his oppressive regime is a worry for the free-world. As for Russia's involvement in Venezuela's arming themselves is for Russia attempting to restart the cold-war, and employing as many totalitarian countries as posible. North Korea and Iran somehow feel that they can do as they please, threaten whomever they please and to hell with what the rest of the world wants. Maybe it is time for the toothless United Nations to do something about this type of country. Both of these countries are doing exactly what Hitler did in the warm-up to WW II, because there was no intervention he was able to take over a large chunk of the world. He was counting on teh fact that nobody wanted to stop him, and relied on the diplomatic process to allow him to continue with his agenda. It was only when England saw fit to call Hitler on this agenda that the rest of the free world also stepped forward. Eventually the world is going to have to step up to the plate and stop countries like Iran, N. Korea, Venezuela, and Russia. Every time the U.S., England and most free countries proposes escalating sanctions including the use of force if necessay, Russia, China, and France threatens to use their vetos to stop any such actions.

I don't believe that foreign born terror suspects should have any protections under our flawed Charter. If we continue to allow the appointed, undemocratic Supreme Court to make laws in this country, none of us will be safe. It is quite obvious from recent rulings by this elite gathering of appointed morons that they have absolute distain for both the Parliament and the people of Canada. They could care less what it is that the people of Canada want, as their only concern is making sure that they have the final say in every aspect of Canadian society. I don't remember ever having a vote on turning over Canada to this bunch of activists who have absolutely no respect for either the traditional morals and values this country is based on. We need to through legislation limit the powers of this unelected and undemocratic body, who place themselves above the law of the land, and above the power of elected officials. As far as I'm concerned this body is a direct threat to democracy, and their role needs to be redefined as simply a interpretive role only.

Kim Campbell says Harper will lose
mcqueen625 replied to normanchateau's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Happy to oblige: http://www.cbc.ca/canadavotes/ <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I didn't check the link because it doesn't surprise me. A lot of disaffected old PC MPs are taking their merger anger out on the Reform wing whose guy just happens to be party leader. Joe Clark will probably be next. I wonder what they'd be saying with MacKay or Lord at the helm. God help us all if Bernard Lord ever became leader of the CPC, because for New Brunswick he has been a total disaster. Health care in NB, what health care? Instead of hospitals we now have Community Health Centres open 9:00 am until 5:00 pm, and if you need real medical attention after 5:00 pm you may be able to contact an accountant, because there seems to be far more of them in the health care system of NB that there are medical professionals. Did I vote for him? Yes I did, but as the old saying goes, "Once bitten, twice shy." He pubically says that they are runn9ing a $22 Million surplus and even when the Auditor General and Standard and Poors states that we are actually running a $68 Million deficit, Bernard simply states that the NB government uses a different accounting method. I think it's called telling anything but the truth, and if you tell the same lie often enough eventually people will believe you. -
Conservative voters do the same thing in ridings where an NDP candidate has a chance of winning in many urban ridings. We don't here about it in the media because the Conservatives have give up any hope of winning seats in the cities so they don't try to compaign against it. When are Canadians going to realize that we do not live in a democracy? We live in an elected dictatorship, where we get to choose which dictators will RULE us for the next 4 or 5 years. Once elected they become accountable to only a multinational corporate agenda. Our elected MP's, MLA, and municipal politicians take their marching orders from that corporate agenda. All that matters is for the corporate sector to pay little or nothing into the pot to fund the social safety-net, while close to 100% of that pot comes from working Canadians. An NDP government would be no different other than the fact that we would be paying a much higher level of taxes to pay for a whole slew of new social programs. Ask the people of Ontario how they faired under the NDP led by Bob Rae. Last I heard this same Bob Rae is running to lead the Liberal Party of Canada. Personally I find little difference between the Liberals and the NDP, in fact there is little difference between any of the parties, because none represent the people, and they all represent whatever it is the corporate sector tells them to represent.

Oh for heavens sake. Go here: http://www.cbc.ca/programguide/program/pro...levision&genre= See that? "Nerve" is one of hundreds of shows. And some of what you're complaining about appears to be videos sent in by viewers. What should we do, withold thier tax rebates? Your outrage is shrill and baseless. GOD BLESS YOU CBC, WE LOVE YOU!!! The last bastion of unbiased commercial free radio. Always stand on guard Canada, to rightwingers the lack of rightwing bias = leftwing bias. Don't let the fascists steal the quality from the world! "The last bastion of unbiased commercial free radio." What radio are you listening to? The last time I listened to CBC Radio, or watched CBC TV I was subjected to just as many commercials as if I were viewing or listening to any other commercial media stations. Maybe it would be worht subscribing to if it was in fact commercial-free, and if they were producing quality programming. I mean "IF", but I have yet to see anything produced by CBC qualify as being a quality production. It seems to me pushing a social agenda to somehow make gay and lesbian topics as somehow normal has fallen on it's face. It is not normal and is not acceptable by the vast majority of Canadians. I for one would not allow kids to watch such dribble and presume to tell them that first it okay to watch this crap on TV. To me it is exactly the same as condoning the watching of a heterosexual couple having sex by kids as being acceptable. In either case it is wrong and I definitely do not want my tax-money spent to produce such crap. If it is filth sent in by viewers, showing it does not make it any more acceptable. No wonder many of our young people have no morals or values.
-
Right on! I'm at the point that whenever I see "Produced in Canada," I change the channel. Nine times out of ten it is my tax-money at work for some crap nobody would either make or watch if it were not for our federal government wasting our tax-dollars on such frivilous crap. I agree, let's stop funding the CBC immediately and see if they can make it without being funded by the tax-payers of this country. I'm willing to bet, that if funding were cut off say next month, that they would be bankrupt before the end of this year. It would be rather nice to see them all get real jobs instead of leaching off the tax-payers.
-
I think it is high time that the embilical cord is cut between the CBC and taxpayer's money. If these bleeding-heart nutcases who manage, produce and act in the utter trash that is produced by CBC, it is time that we cut them loose and operate instead like PBN, by doing fundraising in order to stay on-air. I can tell you that if given a choice, I would never donate 5 cents to the CBC in order to keep them operating. Unfortunately I do not have a choice and my tax money continues to be funnelled to this huge money vacuum.

I couldn't believe my ears a couple of days ago at MDuffy...when all he could think and worry about was the possible violation of rights when he learned that the suspects were denied to get together to do their communal prayers! Sorry for the crass comment.....but he makes me wanna puke! Maybe it's time that we send these bleeding-hearts who profess to care so much about the safety of Canadians to some of these totalitarian Muslim states to live. I for one would rather the authorities err on the side of caution when they detain suspected terrorists. Let's just remember that many of these radical Islamists consider all non-Muslims to be infidels including Western governments and therefore should be exterminated and replaced with believers and practitioners of Islam. I could care less what their religion is, but don't expect me to give up my faith and follow Islam, it's not going to happen. If what the radicals practice then I want no part of it. I read somewhere that they do not consider Islam to be simply a religious faith like Christianity, but they instead want Islam placed on a different plain than just a religion. If they want to not only bring their faith with them, but propose to insert such concepts as Sheria Law into Canada, then maybe they should just stay in the backward countries they come from. -
Very true. Just imagine how the world would be if there is no USA right now to wield its power....and if instead, fundamentalists like the Taliban is the world leader. I fully support the right of Isrtael to defend their country and their citizens by any means possible and for some people to side with the Palistinians is asinine, considering under Hamas' only goal is the elimination of the Jewish State and their peoples
