  1. I'll send you the book if you have enough band width.....And while each item is small when looking at the big picture, it's death by a thousands cuts...Perhaps you can point out all the good things he's done....other than weed, and even that is debatable.
  2. Justins brand is of course himself first, or should I say sunny ways, then anything to do with feminism, he is Canada's chief apologist, being finally being a Liar, i'll stop there as the list could go on for days...
  3. My point was and is, your response , was you being a dick and calling Betsy a hack...I get it Betsy does not need me to stand up for her , she could kick your ass by herself...and while you say your not a liberal Dougies point stands, you certainly sound like one, Blaming Harper for everything that is happening around the world …..it is getting old...like the liberals reign....So once again try and read the post and answer the questions....you can do that right....
  4. Typical dick response.... Yes one could compare the CBC to be almost as non partisan as the Rebel media outlet, thats sarcasm in case you did not get it....Did the Rebel get any of that media money Justin was flinging around....nope...why not...
  5. Just a question , when are the Liberals going to stand up, grow a pair and own their mistakes, why must ever liberal compare their screw ups to Harpers government, it is the Liberal go to statement....Hey in case you have not heard the Harper government is NO LONGER in power , the Liberals are and they have been so over 3 years now....at what point is the liberals going to take ownership of their mistakes....and what point are the liberals sheeple going to see Justin's reign for what it is , one mistake after another.... And it has been pointed out this is not the first case, or second, or third this is a common mistake....for you liberals let me break IT DOWN....it means it happens a lot....and that is not acceptable conduct for a government dept....does not matter if your a liberal or a con.
  6. The last round of Syrians that arrived here due to one of Justin's Campaign promises, raised the issue of the lack of screening, for several reasons, one was a lot of the persons that applied did not have any paper work, claimed it was lost or stolen...they were stilled screened and a lot accepted, second how does one check sources or do criminal back ground checks in a country that is mostly war torn where records were lost, or nobody is working the records office do to the war...unless they had a criminal record in another nation or inter pol it makes these checks impossible….Yet our government has gone on record and told Canadians that all these checks were done, nobody slipped through.... US government just released this tidbit, Canada is looking at excepting more than a million in the upcoming years, more like in the next 3 to 4 years...How reliable is this info, it is in the Liberal web site, it is also stated by our immigration minster, and a matter of public record.....here is another tidbit, the majority of Canadians want to reduce immigration numbers....i'm pretty sure that includes a lot of liberals and I'm pretty sure that does not make them Xenophobic right wingers....of course I could be wrong, as I think most liberals are just confused and lost people, that should be reeducated for national security reasons...and cons should be given tax rebates for doing this reeducating in their basements....just turn in an ear at the local RCMP station , along with a statement of converting to the conservative side....but thats just me... Immigration has built this country, But when was the last time we seen numbers that the Liberal government plan on , in the next 4 years....well over a million ….shit do we even have that many hotels suits....Maybe we should be questioning the reason we can't sit down and discuss this matter with out threats of taking you guys down into our basements........
  7. I agree 100 % the liberal part has a long record of bending DND over a table, they also have a long record of converting CDS into politicians like the one we have now. he stood by and let all of that happen, and Royal no less. But then again one can not forget the Harper cons and all their broken promises.
  8. goodnight
  9. Me personally, I don't expect anything from you, and I'm not judging you by any means, "my" opinion is there is still hope, if we don't have hope then what do we have...empty dreams...I don't see breaking up the nation as the end all be all, then again I have not really put in any effort into researching it to find the pros and cons, what I do know is that it is becoming more popular in other provinces as well...separation is the new buzz word in places like Alberta and Saskatchewan, I think it will produce more losers than winners... again just my opinion ...I think most of our problems can be solved with good leadership.....when does that come not sure.
  10. The Aussies have the leadership to make those changes, it was not so long ago, they were on the same level as DND, equipment wise, operating old leo I tanks, F-18, crusty navy....which is why I still have hope if they can do it so can we....Until then DND will be distracted with a new series of Berets, dark blue for support units, and dark green for operational units...
  11. I think Dougie is the real deal, and it's not a matter of bleeding red and white, but a matter of his loyalty to the Department, and in the grand scheme of things joining the military was never about wrapping yourself in the flag, but joining something bigger and larger than life , but when you boil it all down it was the man left and right of you, your unit or Regt, and some where down the line comes the flag and country....Not many soldiers are happy about what has happened to DND over the last 25 years, and I get where he is coming from....To see it ripped apart or is a lot of cases discarded with no regards to the men and women in it...was a huge let down...and in most cases it was over saving funding so the government could use in some useless campaign promise that does not even exist today.
  12. For me, Seen to many good men pay a high price on the battle field to have some poser or peace nik talk bad about them or the Regt, hence why I was a little short, thats just me, I figure I owe them that much...Now if another soldier does it he has earn that right....I don't have to like it, it's just the way it is....... I get what your trying to say, and I use to have the same opinion , give the same speech to my troops, that is until one of your close buddies pays that price, .. from that that moment on that speech means nothing. Even though you continue to use it as a motivational speech to your troops. Question, how does an RCR go from being a soldier , to a separatist ? I ask because that is a huge leap...
  13. I don't want anything from you, there is a lot of posers on the inter net, and I had some hairs stand up on the back of my neck when you where discussing the Regt thats all...
  14. Your absolutely right, I apologize, your experiences my differ than mine, I spent most of my time in the 3 rd BN London and Germany, then when they disbanded was sent to the 2 nd in Gagetown until retirement. I can honestly say my 30 plus years with the Regt I had more good times than bad, maybe I was lucky...
  15. Devastated to me is like getting kicked in the balls, a piece of your heart torn out, knowing that these people are not going to be around any more, Did it effect me and my ablity to function as a soldier, I'd be a liar if I said no....did I buck the fuck up...we all did
  16. Then you should also know that a BN's moral can change on a dime depending who the CO or RSM are, and so on down the chain of command...it's the people that make a decent BN , and like any organization there are always dicks...I could give you an every ending list of dicks in the infantry....as well as a huge list of guys that made serving worth while....like they used to say, want it easy you should have joined the chair force. and yes there was a lot of inter company scraps, you put a keg of beer down in a group of infantry guys and your going to have a scrap....thats what A type personalities do....and like any BN, one day you could be in Bravo, the next in Charles and to say you just dropped any friendships or loyalties because of you changed companies is bullshit... Most of us spent most of our Careers in one BN , so ya hard not to develop friendships across the entire BN, that being said , I also knew a shit ton of Royals from the other BN's as well. Funney I had you pegged as a dirty old Vandoo….
  17. You can reject what ever you want to, but my description of devastated stands, and while I might not be as professional as you are , or claim to be but it felt like someone kicked me in the balls when I heard the news in Gagetown.....and through out Medusa when the Bn was taking other causalities, that felling would return….yes it all happened to almost all 8 plt , Charles Company was combat ineffective and not just for that day but for a long time after that....even after the replacements got there it was not the same....and yes they are professional, and yes they carried on with the rest of the OP but if your going to post that the rest of the company, or for that matter the rest of the Bn was not effected by those events I'd say bullshit. Those losses where felt though out the entire Regt, most that served in 1, 2, 3 knew a lot of those soldiers personally....I guess we are not all machines as you would suggest...
  18. Not just operational, but it also influenced strategic thinking and planning as well , one can not have a major revolutionary changes at the operational level without having a effect on the entire system. All of it was the brain child of Canadians. I'm not so sure that soldiers were all that badly treated upon their return, they were given land and other benefits upon their return, mind you nothing like the benefits we have today. Now Gen Curie did get a raw deal, but I think mickey mouse would have gotten a raw deal just by the shear numbers of causalities. (I can't fathom the effect that this would have had on the population let alone the units, I know that during Afghanistan when the US A-10 Had strafed 1 RCR position it devastated the entire Regt, both in and out of country. shit when ever we lost even one soldier it would take a huge toll on the unit)...That being said back in WW I it did not stop the flow of volunteers to fill the vacant positions. As for the country becoming anti war , I don't see it ,....The only province that was anti war , or perhaps anti English at the time was Quebec, the rest of the country had very little problems getting volunteers to go fight , despite knowing the high causalities figures. It was not until the end of the war that they started to process citizens that were drafted, and of those very few of them even made it to the front. Then with WWI still fresh on everyone's mind, WWII breaks out, and for a nation that was anti war, they were very quick to rush to the UK side once again, even the province of Quebec answer the call...Canada once again would build an entire Military organization from scratch, it's military machine had been disassembled after WW I , so I find it hard to comprehend that our nation would be anti war when there was so much support for both wars...and for a nation that as you say were anti war, would go on to produced some of the best soldiers in the allied command. It contradicts your thought process.
  19. It's hard to find any event that got as much attention as the Canada-Russia 71 game, I mean shit all we care about is Hockey and our pogey checks....but it does not change the fact that that battle was the source of pride , and if not at the time, then while looking back historians did make an effort to sell the point that it was the birth of a nation, or coming of age as a Nation, today the idea of the birth of a nation being born out of battle has liberals heads exploding, not saying all historians are liberals just that today history is being changed to fit the times, don't want to offend anyone..... plus the first time that all of Canada's division would fight as one corps, it was also during this battle that ground breaking new tactics were used some of which are still being used today. Creeping barrage, arty sound detection, giving maps to the troops, holding practice assaults, training over and over again, The same innovations change the course of warfare as much as tank warfare eventual did. all Canadian made. And for the time Casualties were extremely high, using the battle of the Somme as an example, 60,000 in one day....here the Canadian Corp only suffer 10,000 plus in the entire battle ....But then again the entire conflict was a meat grinder....and while it would be recorded as a minor action, for Canadians it had some meaning. I know it does for me, but then again I look at the battle honors on our Regt flag and wonder what it was like to spend a day in their shoes....
  20. Here is the problem, Canada faces threats against our sovereignty from a number of different sources, it does not have to come by threat of direct invasion, there are dozens of examples where one nation can threaten our sovereignty, Hans island is one example, Soviet equipment and expended rations packs were found on northern borders by Ranger patrol, US and Russian sub traffic in our artic waters, the Turbot war with Portugal ….Not to mention all the defensive packs we have signed and agreed to uphold....NATO, NORAD, AABC&NZ to which we need a viable military just to live up to the basic conditions of these treaties.... NATO's forces were not to die, but to delay Warsaw pact forces long enough for the US to get reinforcements into Europe. This task was compromised when NATO's European and Canada decided to cash in on the peace bonds...The Russian bear did not just roll over and die....they can and are still a threat. Russia and for that matter the US still believe that the next European conflict can be held to a conventional war, with the use of tac nukes and chemical warfare. And while the Soviets have been down sized , thats nothing compared to NATO forces in the region....for Example German forces used to play a huge roll in the defense of Europe...today they can barely field 250 main battle tanks of which only a small percentage are full operational...Some say Trumps kick in the arse might bring some of them back in line, but some see Justin's response as the way to go....in refusing to do anything...and I agree with Dougie when he says NATO should ask Canada to go about their own way, for being a slacker...it might serve to be a warning to other Nations. Even the Swiss has a viable military and they are neutral...
  21. I was not confused and took into account the entire battle, Both sides had used up all or most of it's resources, Germany lost most if not all of it's large peace time trained army, Britain's military had very little experience, and was on a huge learning curve....No doubt it shock the entire empire, close to 500k causality's will do that, but not to the point where the empire was going to collapse, or Canada was thinking about changing alliances from the UK to the US ….I think the fact that the empires armies continued to grow in size, India, Canada, Australia, New Zealand , etc, etc continued to show huge amount of support that continued to grow with each victory, be it little or small I mean Canada built an army of 4 divisions , from At the start of the conflict Canada had a regular army of only 3,110 men and a fledgling navy. To do that one would think that Canadians supported the war effort and the British empire a lot...I also think history shows that this support continued to well after WWII, where once again we stood shoulder to shoulder with the British.... Was it a defeat, that would depend on who you talk to....it was the battle that forced both sides to the brink.... all sides had used up to many resources including men and machine, some say it was the turning point for the allies as Germany could not recover from those losses. Some say yes it was the huge defeat for the British...I think it was a defining moment for sure for the brits, but one that drew the empire closer, not futher apart
  22. I disagree, Yes the battle of the Somme was tragic for the British forces, but no Canadians took part , with the exception of the Royal NFLD Regt who at the time was fighting under the British flag..., but it changed very little, British resolve and troop numbers remained constant through the war....Canada was still very much attached to Britian, still very much imbedded into the British chain of command even when for the first time the Canadian Corp would fight as one in the battle for Vimy. And much later during WWII we were once again at the British side at the beginning of the war...Still ultimately under British command.... I think it was well after the WWII that we became more attached to the US than the UK, the US was or had become a world super power, on all fronts and because of our proximity we were dragged along, and soon after that we became integrated both economically, and industrially
  23. Sorry but I disagree, they are not bending the will of the electorate, but rather already know the outcome of the electorate vote, and I agree with you 100% that the vast majority of Canadians "Support" the military, until it comes to funding, thats where it stops.. I think the problem here is the average Canadian does not know anything about our military, Such as what is their job ? how they are equipped? all the basic stuff one should know about their military...and as such they can not make informed decisions on anything dealing with the Military...Nor does the government or DND want to educate them. Hence why a lot of them think we are servants of the US government...when it has a lot to do with all the defensive pacts we as a nation have signed on to , it is these very same , defensive pacts themselves that allow Canada do cheap out on it's entire security apparatus not just DND. As for liberals looking at us as victims, not sure if any soldier really cares what any politician thinks of members of DND. With all the shit that the liberals and conservatives have thrown at DND during my career, I can honestly say I'd do it all again, not because I like to be bent over by our government , but because it was an honor to serve with of the good men and women of the forces...retired in 2014 The NSPS has already been trimmed, when it was estimated to cost 30 bil....I don't think I'm delusional , but rather hopeful..
  24. You really think that is true, the liberals did a huge study on our military, gave it to Joe public, they asked how it should be funded, what equipment should they have, how much, how large should it be etc etc......you know all the questions joe Canadian would know or guess because everyone is a general don't you know.......and the answers that came back surprised the liberals, there was a lot of support for military spending and the military....hence why the liberals came out with their new way forward for DND.....so they are not bending to the will of the electorate....where are they going, and while there is support for all this spending , there is a lack of political will to get er done....not surprising there is not a whole lot of will to get anything done by the liberals, except POT now that got everyone attention....everyone is to high to care about anything else.... And i'd say todays purchases coming in around 60 bil for ships buys a lot of politicians.
  25. Your 100% right Dougie….DND and RCMP, CSIS, swear allegiance to the Queen or whom ever is seating in that seat at the time...Thats Canadian law, done for several reasons, one is to prevent the PM in deploying those dept's in any illegal operations....She the Queen is represented by the Governor General as a figure head, and a safety factor to reign in our nations military authority from being abused....That being said through out our history when has a GG over ridden the any elected PM....None, RCMP and Military forces were used to put down the North west rebellion, also the conscription riots during WWI, FLQ crises in Quebec, OKA crises, always those damn French men....Canada does not have a long history of using it's military on it's own citizens....and through out our history the PM has always called the shots, not one GG has said no...it's one of those laws that are on the books but have not been put to the test....The PM decides what the budget is, and how it is spent....not the GG, which is a figure head, and the oath, a notion that is not been challenged....make no doubt we serve the federal government , but you would be hard press to find a soldier to pull the trigger on a Canadian citizen.
