Bring back capital punishment with help from MAID.
Army Guy replied to blackbird's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The government already has "all" the power to kill when it needs to.... Me, no i don't want to give the government any more power than it already has, i don't trust them period, but regardless of what i think They have it already..........but i think I've illustrated the government can pretty kill what ever it wants, when it wants under various excuses......BTW Canada has already allowed x 9 inmates access to maid...So it has already happened 3 times now...the lids off and the genie is out of the bottle.... If Veterans affairs can offer it to soldiers with mental health issues, why would their be an uproar for inmates to be offered... or are Inmates more valuable than soldiers ?... do you think it would be a huge leap.....for the government to really expand MAID to all prisoners ? Canadians seem ok with killing over 16,000 regular law abiding citizens every year...and some of those that have been approved are pretty lame excuses.....one lady was approved because she could not find an apartment to, live in because of her hyper allergies...we have already lost the moral high ground here... https://www.aptnnews.ca/national-news/maid-in-prison-nine-inmates-have-used-canadas-assisted-death-program/ -

I'll start with the war on terror, Canadian military forces were given kill or capture orders for many high ranking terrorist...Not many wanted to be taken alive....All rules of engagement are authorized by the sitting government...During my tours in Afghanistan not once did i have to get permission to take a life as long as i could prove it was in accordance with the rules of engagement...we were not at war, we were invited by the ruling Afghanistan government and given pretty much free reign Go back to WWI, Military police regular shot those soldiers in the back of the head if soldiers did not exit the trenches when told to do so, So much so they start call MP 's meat heads...the lucky ones got a trial.... Also see conscription riots in Quebec https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Canadian_soldiers_executed_for_military_offences WWII we progress to at least giving soldier a trail, albit a short one if found guilty of being a coward or any other infraction the Commanding officer could order said soldier to be shot.... https://quillandquire.com/review/a-keen-soldier-the-execution-of-world-war-two-private-harold-joseph-pringle/ It was not until the 90's that the Canadian military took the death sentence of the punishment options.... During the OKA crises and the final assault Canadian soldiers were authorized to use deadly force on any threat deemed life threatening...It is only by some miracle that no lives were lost on both sides.. Our government has given our police forces the ability to use deadly force on whomever presents a threat to their lives... And the last example is our government has authorized our medical establishment to offer MAID to any citizen that wants it.. Which now kills over 16,000 Canadians a year... So the government has the power to order person killed, and has used those powers on a regular basis...another recent example was a JTF member recording the longest sniper kill in history, and multiply kills with one bullet, in Syria.... Just because it does not get reported , does not mean it is not happening... If the military had been ordered to clear Ottawa during the trucker convoy it would have been a SH!t show, with any amount of outcomes possible -

You seem to think because the government does not kill citizens on a regular basis it does not happen...What about soldiers, or enemies declared by the state, in the late 90's the military still had the death penalty listed in approved punishments. Where does the authority come from when police or other organizations have to shot a criminal....So deadly force has been authorized by the government , they do have the power to kill -

new Conservative government in NFLD, are going to put this issue to a vote with the people deciding if Quebec gets another shot at NFLD hydro.....They may be rich now , but once the agreement gets reviewed Quebec may be holding an empty bag....So much for profiting off someone else work... -

You don't think they are not evil, I've seen what Russian soldiers are capable of, with many Russian soldiers already been declared war criminals....So ya they are evil...and don't think Chinese are any better...Neither have paid much attention to the Geneva conventions...we will see when China takes Twain and how they treat them, and the US naval forces... -
Well maybe they are not ready for peace just yet....If Hamas will not disarm, this will not be over...They got no problems getting people to commit terrorist acts against Israel but nobody wants to throw Hamas out...looks like Israel will have to finish the job...
-
Would not have to drive them any where, if they just stop playing reindeer games, and of course there is the terrorist thing... We could be asking more valid questions like why is the Palestinians allowing Hamas to remain in power and why are Hamas rounding up their political rivals/ or anyone accused of helping Israelis and killing them in the streets....If you were concerned about Palestinian lives that is......

What is Alberta main source of income, OIL and GAS, which Canadian industry provides the most towards our GDP...OIL and GAS....It also provides for most of Alberta....So why would she not want to increase that....why would anyone want to stop that.... Is she holding Canada hostage, it may seem so, I think she is holding Carney feet to the fire due to the promises HE has made to her and Alberta...And it ios not like any of the other provinces have not done so, see Quebec.... It has not sponsor right now , but lets not forget this project was already approved....and according to media sources 31 out of the 40 indigenous players have already agreed to this project before Justin canceled it...these 31 have lost over 2 bil in pay outs togate....and i'm sure if approached again today they would jump at the opportunity... As for the conditions i agree with all of them, they are past liberal policies put in place to punish oil and gas...the one industry we depend on...and some how that makes sense to the old liberals... Carney should not have made any promises he can not keep....and if he did what is wrong with calling him out on it... Look if this crises blows up and the nation ....that's who your going to blame...Alberta and smith...Carney and EBY have no hand in any of that ....OK...If the nation can not stand up to this little crises of a pipeline then we are in serious trouble and should fold out tents up now...
-
Very true, I'm not a liberal supporter but i do agree on this energy corridor, i mean even the conservatives have signed off on the most of it , shit it is there idea......The fact that all the premiers agreed to all of it....And EBY knew before agreeing to this corridor he would not support OIL pipelines....You can't have an energy corridor without OIL....end of story.... And right now BC premier is standing in the way....

Quebec has no hydro....NFLD has the Hydro, and the new NFLD government might not honor the new plan with Quebec.... -
No man's land; the advent of drone warfare
Army Guy replied to paxamericana's topic in The Rest of the World
The problem with using drones to fight our battles comes in many forms....todays wars are normally ended when one side has suffered enough losses of human life to make waging war no longer viable....introduce drones and the outcome now differs , by extending the war, where loss of human life is no longer a factor but rather how much money you have to spend on drones... Which might cause one nation or both to transfer objectives instead of just fighting other drones, inflict damage on the civilian population will be a goal to make the other bend the knee....no longer will nations have their soldiers question if orders are legal, be reluctant to kill unarmed civilians instead they will have a machine designed to wipe out anyone it comes into contact with, all of that with no conscience, no regret , no PTSD .... -
No man's land; the advent of drone warfare
Army Guy replied to paxamericana's topic in The Rest of the World
Drone technology is changing at light speeds, most weapons systems once developed and put into the field , someone is working on a counter look at Ukraine, the first 1 and a bit drones were flown frequencies, this year they are flown by fiber optic cables...who knowns what the next guidance system will be...It is like radio communications today, key your mic/ use your phone, turn on your electric razor, and within milliseconds they bad guys know where you are, within minutes you could be on the receiving end of a rocket of arty attack..... most nations are now going to sat coms, which are harder to detect....my point is in conflict technology changes very fast....look at how fast counter drone tech is working, we now have drones that hunt drones... -
You can call it what ever you like, Killing a major pipeline through BC without seeing the plus side of things does not sound like love to me...trying to kill a major Albertan project that is in its infancy, before it gets off the ground does not sound like brotherly love but rather more like an ex wife... There is lots of money out there, like every other pipeline that has been built in BC...all it takes is bags of money...and everyone likes money...Feds have not ruled out fed money, EBY is worried that this proposed pipeline will take money away from his projects... he does not care about the nations energy corridor...just BC... SO no jobs, no port facilities, BC did not get anything , i find that hard to believe... She is asking for the smallest pipeline first because she knows the liberals have a long history of promising stuff then forgetting all about it....and if we can't get one through BC, what's the odds of getting one across the country...We both know the liberals are not going to build any oil pipelines talk is cheap.......maybe natural gas ones...so yes smith is waiting to see what happens....

Us federal government have already said very clearly they don't care about Canada's economy...we see that with the tariffs, Trump has said very clearly he wants all of our automotive jobs, he wants the US to rebuild their lumber , steel, industry, etc with no thought to what it is going to do to Canadas economy...How far is he willing to go right now there does not look like he has a limit he plans on taking several of our industries....he has 3 more years in which to inflict damage to us, it will take decades to undo all of it.... Invade, No why would they have to invade....Besides US does not need to invade, he could do it economically, cyber, just plain tariffs would be enough... Although invading would be much faster... Most nations do not stock pile commodities, or buy more than they need, So unless you plan to under cut their current supplier then yes the market is full...and by under cutting all your going to do is pi$$ a lot of other people off in the process...... I suggested that a while ago, i think it would be an assume idea....build autos/ trucks for the Canada , although i was thinking of European designs. Like i said all they need to do is pry one province out of the union and poof it will start an avalanche....Once any province leaves the union, it would become an independent country of it's own....and join any other alliance it sees fit...or it could be become a protectant of the US....Canada would be powerless to do anything... i mean what could Canada do if that was the case....cry foul , invoke some inter national laws....UN interference...release the hounds...not sure what could be done or what powers Canada thinks it has...
-
First they would have to get close enough to do anything like that, our navy could easily prevent this from happening....and once the US heard about this i don't think they would sit back and watch they send up enough ships to be a deterrent...last time anything happened in ST Lawrence sea way was in WWII, and at the time Canada had the 3 rd largest navy in the world...

Your preaching to the choir here, i love pipelines...we should not be buying any foreign oil from any where so ya pipelines for everyone, east coast, west coast, north. south....China is not the only nation off the west coast...and most of it love our oil... because of the caps placed on production, like emissions caps and while not a production cap per say, once they hit their emissions cap product , which is why Carney has said he will approve carbon capture tech project to be built in Alberta to support another pipeline... https://www.canada.ca/en/services/environment/weather/climatechange/climate-plan/oil-gas-emissions-cap.html PBO mentions oil capacity in our pipeline are at 85 % now....but there is no mention of what the safety levels are set at....

Queen has a point, the US controls everything we do....they fart we smell it ...including our economy...when our dollar hits what the peso is worth do not think more Canadians will warm up to the idea of being American... You think the US is going to allow us to cozy up to the Chinese or Russians...do you not think there would be consequences to that move... 75 % of our trade is with the US...how can we make that up in foreign markets already filled to capacity, or have their own protectionism on it....Do you really think Europe is going to want us after the US tightens its grip, and crushes us...... The US does not have to convince all Canadians just one province....take Alberta for instance...or Quebec, the rest will fall like dominos' out dollar will be worthless, our economy will have tanked...Provinces will be lined up to become US citizens...And the best part we will do it to ourselves...And Canadians will lose everything, government pensions, CPP, OAS, unemployment benefits, welfare benefits...god knows what it will do to our housing market, all our Canadian investments...everything will be up in smoke....
-
Not sure of the strategic value, But the province is not well off, it's main industry is tourism and potato's and fishing, average wage is well below the national average, so money talks in the province....China got lots of it...and it gives them a foot hold in Canada for what i do not know.........China continues to purchase Canadian resources ands their companies....including investing heavily into Canadian critical minerals

So there is love for Smith in BC.....it all comes down to that...that's what this is all about the hate for Alberta....Saying no to pipelines and oil is just an excuse, to get more money ?.... i mean how many pipelines are there in BC, and how many bils of dollars has it cost to grease the pockets of BC citizens...and first nations...personally i hope BC continues to say no perhaps that energy east pipelines would become more viable....we love to have high paying jobs and a larger oil and gas industry here in NB....
-
Maybe i have not explained it right.....there is one team with one goal....That's team Canada, and it's goal is to make an energy corridor so we as a nation can become a energy super power....I'm not sure what is so tough about that...Now if the goal was to improve different provinces then maybe you would have a point...but it is not the goal....team Canada is the goal.....and right now BC is refusing to play....Because the money bags guy has not arrived and paid everyone off....He will be coming around that's how we get things done around here, pay off the opposition ....right now it is still a project Alberta wants...right now it looks like BC is out for what they can get from the feds and scre* everyone else...I would not be surprised if BC gets opposition to some of their other projects...
-
I get it there is a concern over a spill, but i asked when was the last tanker spill in or around BC....there hasn't been one ...all your spills have come from other sources like cargo ships , but does the tanker ban include tugs and cargo ships....no they don't.......and tech has only been getting better over the years to prevent tanker spills........BC has more to fear from earth quakes than pipelines or tanker spills.... https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/environment/air-land-water/spills-environmental-emergencies/spill-incidents/past-spill-incidents

This normally would not be an issue except PEI has strict land ownership rules, a person can not own more than 1000 acres, and a corporation no more than 5000 acres...and some how this Chinese's organization owns over 17,000 acres...and still buying up more , an investigation has already been done but the report was buried....Now people are calling for a National inquiry at the federal level...and we were worried about trump....while China came in under the radar and started buying up land... https://blazingcatfur.ca/2025/10/10/pressure-mounts-for-release-of-long-buried-pei-report-on-buddhist-land-transactions-amid-broader-calls-for-federal-inquiry/ https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/prince-edward-island/pei-legislative-committee-subpoenas-2018-land-report-1.7649650

How is BC being harmed...This project will employ BC members....not to mention the bags of money it will take to fill those pockets of First nations and other lobby groups... I'd like to here of this Horrible risk...if we are talking about a spill when was the last time BC had a tanker spill...The benefit comes in when Canada's revenue is higher, or are you saying BC does not get federal dollars for anything.... Global warming, come on is BC really worried about climate change, and global warming , why is there not a war on BC coal production, bc sells billions of dollars worth of coal, and natural gas production is going to increase ten fold...all of it effects global warming....or is that just Alberta's oil... If Alberta does not get any of its suggested projects done, i would say yes your going to here getting louder....it will also send the message that these projects are really not meant to make Canada a energy super power...hard to do that with out oil....which will be here long after you and i are gone from this planet I agree changing liberal policy is a good first step...driving pipelines west and east would be another good step...This spat is just one example of why this energy super power thing is all but a dream....it will just be on fight after another....This is just the start....

You'll have to excuse our leftist friend, he is confused, he wanted to grow up and be a conservative, but his parents beat him into submission....now he is just an entitled leftist that thinks conservatives are people beneath him.... maybe he is just hungry....give him a snickers bar it works for me...and it will keep him busy for a couple minutes and the best part is they don't talk much so it can be blissful...
