  1. That's the typical liberal response...blamer it on mega or trump....liberal actions and policies had nothing to do with that decision....or maybe it is just the US sending us another warning....YOUR not moving fast enough...they want to see some positive action....contracts signed troops getting new equipment.... Just a question what could have Canada contributed to anything in NATO today....and if that response was not very much if nothing at all...then why would they feel the need to consult/ collaborate... Just another seat we don't have at the grown ups table...
  2. You would have a point if we were pulling our weight and the bill was 50/50, but that is not happening, and we can not blame this on trump, this has been going on for decades. I mean our air force could not shoot down that Chinese balloon because we have a major lack in capabilities...Canada should do a lot of things, just that problem is a major issue it shows Canadian government being short sighted in a lot of areas... You call it sucking up, i call it survival, do to a whole sting of short sighted decision by all federal parties...we are dependent on the US for trade, not even Carney and a magic wand can divest our trade that fast so that trump is not a factor...and today pissing him off is not going to get any new results, we already know how he reacts , and yet the liberals keep pushing his buttons...
  3. Coming from someone that voted NDP, that does not mean much...
  4. Except Venezuela is not Iran, it was not an Islamic extremist government, it is not just one man in control as we see now... That is what this is about failure to consult....And now the world is butt hurt and does not want to contribute...This is not our war many nations have already stated....Sure, then i guess the US will dictate the how, and when it ends and those other countries will keep paying high fuel prices....US government has already asked for help in keeping the strait open, all he got back was crickets...Lots of moral support there... As of today there is no regime change, and the strait more or less is under Iranian control....US offered a cease fire to talk, and that is not going as planed...and now US government is moving in more forces into the area...more than likely will end with more hostilities..SO yes your right no results to speak of, but this is not over.... US is not concerned what the others are getting, it plays a minor role in all of this....Currently the US only allied in this are middle eastern countries...who have launched airstrikes and some ground attacks. Western nations could have gained favors with trump by offering to send aircraft or ships into the region to escort trade...instead they will sit on the side lines, and complain...and they will pay for that decision, US troop withdrawals from Europe, and other NATO operations.... higher prices at the pump, not enforcing inter national law...the list goes on and on...
  5. Are you suggesting that Iran which sponsors 4 of the largest terrorist groups in the middle east should be left alone to do as they please, not only holding the strait and world trade hostage which is against inter national law....i mean what is the point of having inter national laws if they can not or will not be enforced........ not to mention execute 10s of thousands of their own citizens...So yes not only is it sensible, but necessary....
  6. I'm pretty sure the whole issue is spelled out in the NATO charter....3.5 spent on military, equipment and operating costs, 1.5 % on military infra structure...which could be anything that could be used for the military like railroads, major road networks, dual purpose things like water treatment plants, sewage plants up north.... Some of the most wanted things are so simple to solve...for instance 2 RCR has made one of it's 3 infantry companies dismounted ,meaning they have no drive to get to battle........because there is not enough LAV 6 to make them mechanized...which means they either go to battle by truck or school bus...same as tanks, we have 3 armored Regts only one has tanks....the rest are driving around in LAV 6 meant for the infantry...LAV 6 are made in Ontario....and the Army announced no tanks before 2035, which could be built right here in Canada well before then... Military is bleeding people because they are getting tired of waiting for something to happen, new equipment, new anything....and a lot of them are the experienced soldiers... I get it you did warn me, but people lives are on the line here...and instead politicians are playing politics with those lives...and it seems Canadians are OK with that....
  7. Why do you hate our military members so much, why is it so important to you that we do not give them the best equipment money can buy so they can come home to their families, after putting their lives on the line for this nation.. Why is it your so weak that you can't take criticism...instead you take it as a personal attack....not even embarrassed about the why this is happening, but rather the US had the gull to call us out on it...
  8. Have you listened to that speech...did you think there would be no consequences, this is not week one of trumps rule, this is the second term....we should know by now this was not going to go well....And i think this is just on straw, there are lots of things carney has said that has not gone well....and lets face it, all that has happened is lots of promises...nothing more... Where is the investments, have we signed any contracts yet....with exception of ships....no all we have right now is words, and promises....
  9. First off 2 % is not the unit of measure any more.....that's yesterdays numbers..... Canada has to do some creative accounting to make even that number....Every major piece of equipment our military has is over 40 Years old....not battle worthy...And now almost everything needs to be replace all at once....That is the cost of being cheap... The goal post had to be moved as NATO was not equipped to face any major threat...The new numbers are to bring NATO military forces in line with the threats they face...Those numbers are not forever numbers...This is not about trump, its about NATO not investing in its military forces as it should be, no sense in having an alliance if it can't defend anything... We have more areas that need improvement than we have capabilities that are state of the art...Well you have had 40 plus years to save our pennies, which we did not....so ya sh!t is expensive...what would you be willing to pay for your freedom, or to have a military members come home to their families safe and sound....Drones are a phase in combat, Tech grows so fast and like any weapon system counter measures will be invented to make drones just a regular weapon system. Why should Canada be part of the conversation if it is not paying it's fair share for it's defense... for years the US government has asked nicely for us to step up, and Canada has given them the cold shoulder or the finger....Now the US has a president that is very vocal, we has a nation are not used to someone holding our feet to the fire....and forcing the issue....we have no one to blame but ourselves... Yes US started the conflict with Iran, lets not pretend Iran is innocent in all of this, and did not deserve to be kicked in the face....and while all those nations refuse to open up the strait they should not complain about the cost of fuel that they are more than willing to pay, instead of helping lower the cost by enforcing international law on Iran by blackmailing the world by holding the strait hostage......The world had choices and we fell into the complaining crowd...
  10. US drops a key military board and sites a lack of Canadian investment as a key reason....I provided views from both sides of the border...note the differences... 2 % of GDP is not the new standard that was the old standard....Thanks Canada for keeping up.........the new standards in 3.5 % on military expenditures and 1.5 % on military infra structure... https://thehill.com/policy/defense/5883148-canada-defense-cooperation-trump-carney-tensions/ https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/trump-canada-us-joint-defence-board-9.7203211
  11. Leopard tanks hit the news.... With all this new Fake spending being attributed to the military why is it we can not replace our main Battle tanks until 2035...it should be noted that most of our fleet are also older than 40 years today.....And why this is not a priority for the Army is mind boggling...The current plan is to place all the Main Battle tanks in Edmonton, leaving the armored school, 2 CMBG, 5 CMBG without "any" tanks at all....but it gets worse 1/2 those tanks in Edmonton are training tanks....we have 20 LeaoIIA4M and 20 LeoIIA6M...Canada needs to get it's sh!t in a pile, how complicated can one purchase be....
  12. I think me blaming the liberals for everything has something to do with they are the party in charge for the last 11 years....They and their p[policies are responsible for our current status.....Who else are Canadians going to hold accountable....Sure blame trump and PP....it is what liberals are good at...pointing fingers at some one else... No, i very clear on why OUR economy is struggling, it has liberal stamp all over it....Liberals don't get to use that excuse that a small portion of our economy is struggling because of tariffs "what is it they say 85 % of our economy is tariff free....if that was true why not make a deal and end those tariffs....that is not the liberal plan...The plan is to wait trump out....Liberals don't care about the tariffs or job losses or the economy i mean what was the deficit this year 75 bil over, with larger debt loads next year....stop pretending .......or we would be at the table trying to sort that out....Don't pretend that liberals care about any tariffs or trade deal.... Don't think the liberals get a pass about hearing about the worst PM in our history, it was after all THEM that voted for him 3 times in a row....You will never stop hearing about how he screwed CANADA...Climate change is front and center of most of their policies...take industrial carbon tax deal coming out today........if it was not why not reverse all justins climate change BS...and let Alberta be the engine of this country once again...All we have seen since his election is lots of promises....very little action...Canadians will jump on board climate change when something can replace fossil fuels, until then it is a no go... No not just in my mind, most peoples minds, most of our allied minds most of our defense agreement partners minds, most of the world minds....It is embarrassing to have to explain to foreign people why you're nation is not a reliable allied.. And to make maters worse Most Canadians are proud of that...You can almost bet on anything, what your saying now is just chirping about PP, Most Canadians don't know what he would do....But it could not be any worse than what the liberals have done in the last 11 years...
  13. Nice facts, but what does it exactly have to do with my point....No where did i mention who spent more on defense... You tell me how it has benefited our economy, The liberal action plans and liberal opinion on this forum has been has been this they are in no hurry to fix this tariff war, Liberals are willing to wait it out to get a better deal....So tariffs can't be all that bad if they are in no rush to sign a deal with the US... Try unsticking your head from your A$$....Liberal policies are bad, everything about the liberals are bad..... they continue to print money like a drunken sailor, adding to our massive the debt....what is so good about that....putting climate change first over economy is another liberal failure. the list is just to big to go over, one thing for sure it all lacks common sense...........One could only wish that liberals would use common sense...if only they had some.... Maybe you can explain how Canada has been a good allied to our southern neighbors, when we have been free loaders most of a 1/2 century....
  14. How so, by not living up to it's NATO commitments, as many different US presidents ask Canada to step up, Justin signed on to the new NATO agreement agreeing to spend 2 % of GDP and then flew home and publicly told the world he had no intention of living up to that agreement, now that is statesmanship right there, he did not have the balls just not to sign it............Liberals refused to enter the gulf war, and slapped the Americans in the face with it........and used Afghanistan as way to save face....Thinking it was going to be a cake walk...we have sat back and watched the world go by as the US stood up and took on the role as the worlds policemen....For the most part Canadians took advantage of all that....How is that supporting our closet allied... The American people have done nothing towards Canada, you want to point a finger it is all at trump....when did Canadians become so soft as to let one man words destroy our pride, and influence everything about our country....Carney took advantage of all that and still doing it, how gullible are the left ...All of this is just one man and his lack of a filter....and now Canadians are hiding underneath their beds, and drinking Carneys kool aid...when it was Canadians ( liberals/ NDP) that responsible for our position in life....and now it true Canadian fashion we point our fingers at someone else...Squirl....Trump bad man, it is all his fault....
  15. He seems to love the USA, which he is putting first, Canadians don't like that because they have ben spoon feed for to long by the US, now we actually have to do stuff on our own, and the left is butt hurt.............wish our PM would put Canada first, He does not hate everyone, just you, and the rest of the left side of the spectrum.... You need to get the August decoding ring if you want to know....Only available from ACME, in the US for 99.99....
  16. And yet liberals voted in the worst PM in our history, 3 times in a row...How stupid is that...So much for Canadians being smarter ...one should not throw rocks when you live in a glass house...
  17. Some of the most famous leaders were born into that role I'm not arguing that point...., but a large portion of leaders are also made, shaped through training and education, and leadership training...I would look at our military success rate at producing good leadership through leadership training and practiced education...To lead soldiers in combat and mange all that stress that brings and still motivate troops onto the objective is an excellent sign of leadership...That can come from a Pte or general...
  18. Your example is hardly a disaster...and when compared against other conflicts...while it is tragic that any lives where lost, your example hardly meets any criteria of Disaster...
  19. Do some more research, the Average Saudi citizen makes a decent wage, those food programs are mostly for the non citizens or temp workers.... Average salary in Saudi Arabia Saudi workers generally earn more than their foreign counterparts: an average of 10,159 per month compared to SAR 4,376 (2024). Salaries have fluctuated over the years, with both Saudi and non-Saudi average monthly wages hitting lows between 2021 and 2022. They have since recovered somewhat, but the average pay for non-Saudis decreased in the first three quarters of 2024. Although it’s possible to find an ‘average salary,’ the reality is that wages vary wildly between the minuscule and the exorbitant depending on your experience, training, and passport.
  20. Here is an example of a victory, for Canadian soldiers on Vimy ridge....look at what it cost the Bristish and french, previously on attacks on the same position....100,000 Casualties now that was a disaster.... 13 dead and 415 wounded while tragic, is not a disaster... The Battle of Vimy Ridge (April 9–12, 1917) resulted in over 10,600 total Canadian casualties, with 3,598 killed and approximately 7,000 wounded. The victory was a defining moment for Canada in World War I, though it came at a high cost, with nearly 75% of casualties occurring on the first day. [1, 2, 3] Key Casualty Figures (Canadian Corps): Total Casualties: ~10,600–11,776 (killed, wounded, missing) Fatalities: 3,598 dead Wounded: ~7,000–7,004 [1, 2, 3, 4] Context and Significance: Four Divisions: For the first time, all four divisions of the Canadian Corps fought together. Previous Failed Attempts: Before the Canadian assault, previous French and British efforts to take the ridge resulted in over 100,000 casualties. Vimy Memorial: The Canadian National Vimy Memorial in France bears the names of 11,285 Canadian soldiers who died in France and have no known grave, representing the broader cost of the war. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
  21. There is no data kept to give an exact number of how many Jr NCO have degrees, i was going off my experience in my career... And your right a civilian university degree does not teach leadership as a topic, however in the Canadian military, officer candidates are offer two programs, described below, if you already have your education completed then there is a direct enter plan, do officer basic training and then advanced trades training... How ever if you want to have your education paid for, one could take up the ROTP, this direction allows you to complete your degree, plus receive Leadership training...We call this group Ring knockers....And trust me not to many liberals in any military university, or training school....Not saying there is no liberals in the military they are just few and far between....it is the culture, and the Job that at least in the army does not have to many liberal values, or morals....I would think it is the same for the Navy, Air force but i don't have any experience in those areas... Officer training in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) begins with the intensive 12-week Basic Military Officer Qualification (BMOQ) at the Canadian Forces Leadership and Recruit School (CFLRS) in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec. This program focuses on leadership, military law, weapons handling, and physical fitness. Following BMOQ, officers undertake occupation-specific training. [1, 2, 3] Key Aspects of Officer Training Basic Military Officer Qualification (BMOQ): This program, also known as Basic Training for Officers, is designed to transition civilians into military leaders, focusing on discipline, physical resilience, and leadership skills. Entry Plans: Regular Officer Training Plan (ROTP): Candidates attend the Royal Military College of Canada (RMC) or a civilian university, with tuition paid by the CAF, graduating as a Commissioned Officer. Direct Entry Officer (DEO): For those who already possess a university degree, they proceed directly to BMOQ and then occupational training. Training Structure: BMOQ is physically and mentally demanding, with training including field exercises, land navigation, and obstacle courses. Occupation-Specific Training: Following BMOQ, officers are trained in their specific trade (e.g., Pilot, Engineer, Infantry) at various training centres across Canada, such as the Combat Training Centre in Gagetown, NB Which ever path you choose every soldier or officer is required to complete leadership training along the way, for JR NCO's your first step in leadership training is JLC, not sure what they call it now, but it is a prerequisite to getting promoted to Master Corporal, then your next is when promoted to SGT for most Combat arms trades, then WO, MWO, and CWO each rank you must pass this leadership block in order to get promoted... What your forgetting is once you join the military they will give you all the Ideology you can handle, and not much of it reflects liberals moral and values...There is not much room for it....and if you show any of those traits it is normally beat out of you... Trust me, when i say most of the leadership in the Canadian military are not liberal minded, It is the job of every Snr NCO to mentor all Junior officers and they do not tolerate very many liberal traits...it is beaten out of them at an early stage.... The Canadian military use to be Apolitical, ands to a certain point it is, for instance we are not allow to voice any political opinion to the any media, or civilians...one can not volunteer to help with any political campaign, not run for any governmental position, at any level...Can not attend any political protest, of any kind...the is many more but in todays world it is hard to stay neutral politically, or stay silenced about it any way...It is a good way to end a career. Here in Canada Liberals are not military friendly...Unless forced by our neighbors down south... Every job has a ideology attached to it, Military is no exception....One must remember that a lot of jobs in the military one might have to take a life, and are taught a much different set of morals and values than one might find in a liberal mind set.
  22. Speaking a language is not a good indicator of nationality...both Canada and the US speak English does not make us British...
  23. Actually All officers must have a degree , and a large portion of NCM's have degrees in todays military.....Improving upon your existing education will get you more points on your yearly performance review....soldiers can also apply for higher education, attend a civilian school while still getting paid by the military....So the divide is not that great...
