I think there could be many other different cuts...take the GG position and all her travels, same as MP travels, cutting back on MP benefits, dinners, unnecessary travel, "and do the same thing on the provincial level as well, as the feds are not the only ones over spent... get rid of dental care , child care, and others they are nice to have and only serve the minority of Canadians...Shit i could cut the military's budget by billions by cutting stupid projects, like spending your budget at end year or fear losing it....how about giving bonus to people that do hand in their surpluses...thats right across the board on all fed departments..foreign aid there is 29 plus bil right there, let someone else spend their money on gender studies in ghana....or providing palestinians with condoms...lets mark out those social programs that we do need like health care, programs like OAS,and CPP....cut back on programs like welfare, here in NB welfare is an entire industry, force people back top work....hunger does that to people leave welfare to those that really need it.... I don't think you can go that fast ,i'm pretty sure a large chunk of that 9 bil given this year will be returned... Military is not geared up to spend that amount now, or in a few years....The procurement departments need to be totally revamped, streamlined, gutted really and rebuilt...on both sides the Military, and on Federal procurement department....taking politics for the most part out of the buy....feds can tell the military how much money is available, military should be able to purchase what it wants, with minimum interference from other politicians or departments...believe it or not many other federal departments have a say in military procurement, take indigenous affairs for instance they have a say to see if this product can be supply by indigenous services...the entire process takes decades to complete With that said that project will take years to complete before we can even spend what we had before the extra 9 bil...yes the military's has been giving back bils for years now...becasue the current rules make it mission impossible to get things done in a timely basis. we have trashed our economy already we are like some teenager with his first job, spending way more than we earn...using multi credit cards to pay for each other...So we have some major choices that need to be made, cheaping out on our core responsibilities no longer cuts it...time to give back all those social projects we can't afford right now... lets also be very clear...5 % is not a perminate number it is to get us back in shape where the alliance can be effective...Canada is not the only nation to cash in thoise peace bonds all of europe has...

Round up everyone that voted for the left, and dumped them in Quebec......"you'll get along"....leaving all the rest of the provinces with sensible government with sensible budgets..that would be a great start...

This year alone our deficit is suppose to hit 90 plus bil....he only added 9 bil a year to defense....so we are spending 80 plus bil more than we earn....What exactly are these deep cuts....have we lost any social programs yet...which ones... raise taxes until we start running a balanced budget...it won't be long before Canadians start asking to cut social programs... And just so we are clear it is the Federals responsibility to look after and maintain all of security apparatus, to ensure canadians are protected, thats the deal ..."before" we start adding social programs...and if the PM wants to sign us on to all these big fancy defensive agreements so Canada can play with the big boys you got to be able to pay that bill....if not stay at the kiddy table...and stop acting like we are something we are not....it is really that simple... I find it funny we want our young men and women to defend the country, put their life's on the line for the nation, and other Canadians,but Canadians don't seem to be able to find the funding or time to support our military....to equip them with the proper equipment to do the job...., we should just shut it all down....one drone 2 newfies in a rowboat armed with slingshots, and an old station wagon with the roof cut off as a tank....,it's not like we really take our sovereignty seriously anyways...or we would not be in this predicament... let some other nation take it over....trump would love us to be the 51 st state.... It looks like we have created a conundrum...we don't want to pay our security bill....and we hate trump...who is going to protect us...maybe the EU...

you would have a point if there was a shortage of immigrants and refugees....but there is not...so why not take in those without a criminal record only, or maybe it is out of laziness, or immigration is not funding properly or broken like everything else in this country.. What is a serious criminal does that include terrorist, war criminals, murders, rapists....your wanting to believe our immigration system is perfect ....and yet the media has been telling Canadians for decades these type of people get through...

It never did....Carbon tax alone was not going to meet even our goals....Canadians are not serious about climate change if they have to pay...seen any major investment into power generation, upgrading of our electrical grids.. we do not produce enough power to support 20 % of all vehicles to be EV, no current rebates, manufactures have out right said they can not support the 20 % of all vehs produced to be EV's they also said it would mean moving all production out of Canada into the states...i guess that will solve all the problems won't it...want to lose votes that would be the route to go...

All the major car manufacturers have just stated in the media this week they could not meet the 20 % of all cars to be EV's set our by the liberal government , that figure is "unobtainable"...the market does not support it, consumers do not support it. And the Government has not support it....no rebates, no special tax break,not enough infrastructure in place , weak power grid,all of which has not plans to improve any of this... Nobody whom ever he is, somebody in the liberal government possibly ONLY had one plan to meet our climate change goals we had signed onto ,carbon tax on consumers and industry was it...if there was another plan please let me know i'd be interested to read about it...

Not according to smith, and the media...The first pipeline to be pout through will be to churchill falls, as Manitoba wants to be a team player and gets a port out of the deal. Going through BC makes more sense, just due to the distance...but having a northern port will be an asset to the nation... No it is oil and gas they dislike, they love the money it generates,the jobs, the infrastructure...besides BC is not in charge of anything, it is the native community that has to buy in...thats who runs BC...eby is just a white figure head... She wants to promote oil and gas it is what drives our dead economy...and feeds most of her province...and many others...

You mean like the orginal trade deal we signed....what exactly makes this one different...are there any guarantees that this one will live through trump's presidency... so getting a deal signed is only us looking to get out of some tariffs...which makes since but we don't know if any deal will make it through the week

well western oil is going to manitoba first...thats the first pipeline....The east will get plenty of pipelines in time...And if the liberals don't have the balls to just drive a pipeline through Quebec then the conservatives will...I did not know you can only have one pipeline per province...or you did not need the jobs, and like i said before this is a NATION building exercise to build an energy corridor across the country...why is this so hard to understand...what is wrong with two pipelines...three pipelines...it creates jobs and income...what about those things don't you like...

No but ebys is going to do what his province wants him to do....THE entire point of these projects is to create an energy corridor for the entire "nation"....to boast our nations' GDP by geting our resources to market...not just BC but the entire nation........and it sounds like BC does not want to play.... which is fine but don't be surpised when BC projects don't get approved either ....me personally think the whole idea was more than canada could handle, good idea,but we do not know how to play on one team....we have proven over and over we can not get major projects done, it is mission impossible...and with everyone pandering for the same funding it is going to be cut throat...

sure, but BC did not spend anything on TMX, and lets face it it was not one of the liberals finest hours purchasing a pipeline to start with......Can you even run a pipeline at 100 % capacity ,or is there some safety rule or other reasoning we are not mentioning....EBY is competing for national tax dollars for BC projects it would be to his best interest to down sell Alberta's projects, which are not very popular with BC interests...no proposal yet.... couple of points, it is only an economically incentive when it is a military contract, then we can build whatever we want for triple the price...just to keep canadians ship yard workers working.... instead we go to China which can build anything for nothing...what happened to keeping Canadians employed...and our tax dollars inside Canada...and the optics are terrible on this... eby's

Justins leaving office does not just magically make all the problems he created disappear...they still need to be addressed Identifying who created them is important,i'm sure Carney is not going to take credit for all that mess,but he will need to clean it up.... I think it is great that you and others Canadians feel that way....i truly do, for me there has been to much bad blood pass, and i've been to many funerals to count, because our nation forgot or just neglected soldiers begging for help...I think Justin said it best "you are asking for more than we can give right now" just before he doubled the national debt....The way we have treated our vets is disgusting... Me and my generation are mostly retired now, and i bring attention on this forum and others i hopes it sparks something and our military gets some kind of attention it needs. as my son and daughters have taken up the torch. If not for them, i would not care, like the majority of Canadians...

Not my point at all....almost half of Canadians did vote for conservatives and most of them do think Canada is broken....and all of that is laid at the feet of Justin liberal party,most of which are still here today....thats my point....many things in Canada are broken....you being dishonest or ignoring the problem by not admitting to that... I think everyone in Canada knows the conservatives lost the election, hard not to with so many liberals rubbing it in our noses everyday...but that was never the point...the point is during Justins reign of terror his government broke or mishandled a lot of stuff...So much so it gave Carney an entire campaign to run on... No it does not do you think Canadian wanted Justins jokers running the country,near the end even justin hated himself...and most Canadians did not agree in that direction he was shoving our country, but they were terrified of what PP was going to , eat small children in streets, endorse witch craft,banishing all social programs...etc...
