After your city gets bombed.....is that a requirement to become a refugee.....because there are only 162 conflicts around the world today...why have we not backed up the trucks to any of those countries.....lets take Afghanistan, even our translators that helped save Canadian lives were refused entry.....but in Syria it was a gong show.....anyone and everyone.....because their homes were bombed a few years,what a joke...... try 30 plus years for most Afghans, what did they get from our government for their efforts the middle finger is what they got...........I think your theory has some holes in it..... you said they were screened, how is that possible, a lot of those said refugees did not even have papers, such as passports, birth certificates, no back ground checks could be done, and if possible who would do them, the Syrian police, local Imam, who confirms any of the info provided, what your telling us is they had a short conversations with Canadian immigration officials, that could do very little to check out provided info ..........maybe you can provide a source that details all the actions that where taken to ensure we only got the best syrians...

Just because a few nations take advantage of loop holes or cheats within the reporting polices does not make it right for Canada to also follow suit....Such as throwing in coast guard budget or National emergency response Planning and ops..... Under stated, spending under 1% of our GDP leaves a lot of room to understate things...As a G-8 nation we should not be in the bottom of the list......

Actually they gave any Canadian that wanted to voice an opinion a chance to do so....Did you miss out ? now that things did not turn out as you wanted , now you want a referendum, and when that does not give you what you want then what..... You call it a waste of money, and yet it is one tool our government has used more than any other in it's inventory...The liberals are supporting this at all levels, as something that is well past due.....If you had done any research on the military current state you'd might be inclined to agree.....as all three parties did....

I think when the past continues to show a clear pattern of behavior it needs to be added to the conversation. not made the main topic of conversation but added as a fact to consider. You have to admit that there is also many Imams that broad cast the wrong message, or messages of hate and violence, and some of these Imams are in the west, converting our own citizens to bring harm to us.....or converting or taking advantage of certain situations to get foreign born muslims to do their bidding....and there is no shortages of these people, and when there is a shortage they force them to carry out tasks by black mail, or threats to family.....then there is money , security, or promises of virgins, family safety etc....pretty easy to take advantage of people when your living in very poor conditions..... Those born in Canada, should face longer prisons terms.... The muslim world needs to take action on these extremists, more along the lines like what is happening in Qatar right now....i know those countries involved are not totally innocent either, but there needs to be a "muslim" solution for it to succeed.....for extremists to have no refuge.....any wheres... As for our laws i think the liberals are making a mistake by taking powers away from existing laws ...and should be on the same level of thinking as the British....who are now thinking about adapting a new law that could find people deported or punished by the law when though they do not have all the evidence they need for conviction...but they know they have committed crimes....or using evidence that was collected illegally,that proves guilt. i know this opens up a huge concern of being misused, but it has tied law enforcement hands from taking legal action against them.... Just the fact that some of these immigrants or refugees have criminal records and are not reported to immigration or any other government depts, these people should be rounded up and sent home, this goes with any false claims they have made.....and to go with all that when a court signs a deportation order, that person should be arrested and escorted to the airport ASAP, not years later.....

Sorry i lost my head for a minute, there are good muslims, just none that want to change the religion of Islam for the better, or update it to reflect todays world..... and yet it is alright change it back a few 100 years, or to interpret it in some backwards mission statement to suit their cause..... It appears that the liberals have a new plan , to spend more on DND, it appears that our military is in a sorry state and even the liberals agree something needs to get done. Argus, I'm sorry i re read my post and it reads like i have a problem with your opinion.....Not true, .......in fact your one of the posters on here that understands the military and their needs..... i do however have a problem with the senates, and the liberals whom seem to have become experts on what the CF needs.....despite the opinion of the military brass who have lobby for different equipment for good reason....

Choosing equipment for the military seems to be a sport in Canada, everyone with a chair or couch is suddenly experts in the field,and know exactly what is best for our defense shit we don't need a CDS with all that experience or knowledge........, what we need is a senator, or liberal politician to run our military, pick out what is right equipment for our men and women, i mean ....oh wait that is what happens today.....and yet we have not learned our lessons, kind of like sending our daughters down to the hardware store to purchase power tools for dad....and now the senators are getting in on the plan, and want a piece of the pie.....Who are these senators anyways, wait child molsters, media personalities, crooks, some other losers and all of them are now qualified as military tacticians, military equipment experts, and experts at the defense of this very country......It's like some magic wand once your elected they touch you on the shoulder and poof you know everything about everything.... The military is full of political purchased equipment that has been disasters, equipment that sometimes were not even up to the specs the military wanted , so the military was ordered to change the specs, or nothing was done, the government just went ahead with the contract acting as if nothing was wrong, only to have the military spend millions on modifying them so they could atleast be used by the military..... Now there is talk about bils of new funding heading the militaries ways , that will be wasted on other considerations.....a good example of that is the ship building program, a 27 bil program suddenly jumped to over 60 bil, so they can be built in Canada to save a dying industry, create a few jobs, and line the pockets of the irvings....at x4 to 6 times the price we could build them any where else in the world.....including US shipyards.....But hey it's all about macro economics and feeding the machine....screw everything else....like quality, quantity, and expertise in building Naval war ships....

Then how do you explain large populations of muslims in europe, the UK and Michigan state, where they are fighting for Sharia law, or have taken that to our courts to have sharia law implemented in some cities...Does not sound like those actions support your statement sounds more like they want to change things here to suit what they are comfortable with....and we all know how all that works out..... Look if you are going to hold the Harper government to the standards of the law then we should also expect the liberals to do the same. The old well "they did it first" or they did that does not fly, or should not fly we should be holding our governments whom ever they are to higher standards.....there are no teams, only a government who's prime concern should be the country, and it's people.... If you think that the quoted price is the end result your crazy.....they have not been costed out over 42 years as the F-35 program was, from a 9 bil price tag to a 46 bil over their life time....The Costing that the F-35 was forced to submit included much of what was already accounted for in DND O&M budget, so it was costed twice.....your 4 to 5 bil price tag could grow as high as 10 to 15 over 42 years.....but none of that was discussed, nor has it been made open to the public..... Trust me I did not like what the Cons did to our military , despite their claims of being military friendly.....the facts show another tale.....I had placed all my hopes on the liberal government to fix all of that or at least start the ball rolling.....The liberals have been another disappointment , with broken promises littering the landscape as far as the eye can see....and after 25 years DND has really not pushed ahead in equipment purchases.....but rather declined....Today our military is in the later stages of rusting out, and it rarely gets a mention.....soon Canada will have to decide to face a huge bill or close its DND forever....
