  1. yawnnnnnnnnnnnn
  2. Since nothing wrong happened, that's, indeed, addressing the issue. On the other hand, perhaps he should have stood for six hours in front of the media, saying 500 times in 300 variations that nothing wrong happened. what a better way to make sure that journalists do not ask him questions about the REAL stuff, like the weakness of his Quebec roster or his economic policies. I am beginning to think that perhaps its the NDP who orchestrated the whole thing, with the help of the left-wing media (after all, Canadian media is left-wing and the Sun is part of the media). Have everyone ponder a non-issue instead of asking the real question.
  3. The bit about "the Conservatives did it" is as unproven, as unfounded, and even more sensical than the whole "parlourgate" thing.
  4. Your definition of stupid being, perhaps, whoever votes for the other party?
  5. Interesting how I got the impression he has made it clear nothing wrong happened. You can argue that it should have been done before the press instead of through a letter from his lawyer. But well... he still did it.
  6. This is proving to be a non-issue. Quite frankly, most Canadians do not care about what happened there, and whether or not Layton is saying the truth about it. The issue will drop off the radar before long anyways.
  7. On the contrary. good riddance with it... and that includes the unfounded (and illogical) claim that the Conservatives would have done something as counter-productive as being the one behind the story.
  8. Don't forget. To MrC, Harper is our father and is near perfection... except for one thing.. he is not a dictator like Franco.
  9. There will be MPs from Alberta in Ottawa. The "the rest of the country doesn't like Alberta because they don't vote Conservative" line is getting as tiresome as it is childish. If someone wants me to vote for a party with an Alberta leader, simple - offer me a party with an Alberta leader I can vote for.
  10. As I said to some people... I think Jack Layton must have asked himself quite a few times "what the heck is happening?".
  11. On the other ahnd. Who thought for weeks ago that the NDP would be a shoo-in for the Official Opposition and hovering around 30% in polls.
  12. Are you sure? I think it is entirely possible, same as flying bodily fluids at the Pride Parade.
  13. Well, if there was any doubt that Barack HUSSEIN Obama was not born in Hawaii and that all the documents he has produced are forgeries, look no further than the link posted by BC. The imposter declares that he will show the video of his birth. Well... it is does not even show a HUMAN birth. Not only it is a fake, but not even a good one. The birthers are right! The birthers are right!
  14. I think the NDP will get about 28% of the vote tomorrow, with about 65 seats. The big unknown is Quebec. it is clear now that the NDP will get the highest percentage, but by how much remains unclear. Most importantly, I think the NDP vote will be highly concentrated in urban areas - Montreal, Gatineau, and (a bit surprizingly) Quebec City. Big victories in the ridings they'll win, but I don't think they'll get more than a dozen. Or I could be wrong on the concentration, and they could get about 30 seats. Which would put them at about 80 for the whole country.
  15. Harry, Let's get realisit, shall we? What wins elections is getting the most seats. And the NDP will not achieve that on Monday. Tehir results will be impressive, and they will be second, which is quite an achievement considering that not 3 weeks ago they were polling in the low to mid tens. What you hope for and what the prophets of doom fear will not happen. The NDP is not getting a majority, they are not finishing first, I do not think they will have enough seats to form the government without the support of BOTH other opposition parties.
  16. Tilter, Tilter, Tilter... This one was visited 20 years ago, and the city of Toronto sollicitor foundno wrongdoings. Some will call the inistence on this thing a smear campaign, others a sign of desperation. I just call it like of imagination. There are so many far more interesting things you can demonize him with. Like HE HAS A MUSTACHE, LIKE HITLER HE BIKES... AND THERE ARE A LOT OF CYCLISTS IN COMMUNIST CHINA HIS WIFE IS A MP, HIS SON IS A CITY COUNCILLOR... THAT'S NEPOTISM See, that's not difficult.
  17. Mark the day. You actually make sense.
  18. There are two differences this time. First, although I still think the NDP support is soft, I don't see a massive turning back of Liberals to the fold. The party, and the leader, are just unattractive. Second, a lot of Quebecers are tired of the Bloc, and they do not see either the Liberals or the Conservatives at the place to go back to.
  19. Jack Layton has been an elected politician for 29 years. Leader of a federal party for 8 years. As a high-profile city councillor, Metro councillor and mayoral candidate in Canada's largest city he has not been an unknown quantity (at least locally). His positions has been analysed, applauded, opposed. If there had been skeletons in his closet (and I am not talking about getting massages), they would have been found a long time ago.
  20. Makes me think of the cries of indignation every time it is mentioned that the Layton-Chow couple once lived in a full-market rent appartment in a housing co-operative. It's a very normal and recurring situation in mixed income co-ops, they were cleared of any wrongdoings, and it's over 20 year old, but some people keep insisting that it somehow proves that they are some kind of leeches who spit on the poor while pretending to be on their side.
  21. Running the country competantly includes investing public funds wisely (no reckless spending), being open, and inspiring hope instead of pushing the fear button. Harper has not been up to the task, and he will not be even with a majority.
  22. Well, you're asking people to gamble that the Conservatiives will magically stop their reckless spending and bullying ways if they get a majority. Harper and Flaherty have plenty of experience. Still doesn't stop them from spending money on jails that are not needed, or more money that is needed on planes (and don't get me wrong, we need those). And the experience they have is in opaqueness, contempt of democratic institutions, and political bullying. And this morning, Nanos gives the Conservatives at 37% and the NDP back just over 30%. Same with the NDP.
  23. Good article. Who sums up things pretty well. Just enough Canadians have come to the conclusion that Harper is a political bully, Ignatieff a boring university professor, and Duceppe an overplayed 8-track tape. Some will argue that the portrayal is unfair, but that's how more and more Canadian see them, and quite frankly it's their own doing.
