  1. You know of course that the "he must have done something wrong if he doesn't answer" argument would not last five seconds in a court of law. Not that this is a court of law, of course, but people will have to come with something a lot better than "he didn't answer a question". You know that because... people where actually arrested? Cops saying to someone "do you know this is a bawdy house" is not proof that it was one. And having read the notes, you know of course that he answered no to that question. You are right on something (for once). It's not rocket science, far from it. It's nothing more than idle speculation fuelled by political hatred.
  2. Absolutely. A few years back, I had treatment, not message though, following at a health clinic following an accident at work. They also had message therapy, and some of their staff was Asian. I realize only now that I was in a bawdy house.
  3. Why? because he didn't have to. Simple. But then, simple is not your forte, unlike simplistic.
  4. He was in the place in question, that was never denied. The only conclusion one can get from reading the police notes posted by Sun is that there is no evidence to the allegation that Layton was there for the purpose of engaging in sex.
  5. Interesting, isn't it, that those who come to the conclusion Layton did not commit an illegal act are basing it on the actual text of the notes that were released, while those who think otherwise have to add things that do not appear anywhere?
  6. Calling Harper a dictaor, or spewing venom over Obama, is political opinion. Accusing someone of a crime he did not commit is a different matter. Feel free not to see the difference.
  7. Thanks for admitting it. The rest is at best gossip, at wrose outright lie. But hey, keep being entertaining... not too long though, I have some grocery shopping to do.
  8. Considering that mikedavid is unable to write more than two consecutive postings without complaining about immigrants, especially non-white immigrants, it is not far-fetched to conclude that one of the problems he has with Layton is his wife. That being said, nice to see you don't notice sarcasm when it's right in front of you.
  9. Continue inventing facts out of your hatred for Layton. The policemen's notes are clear enough on the fact that they had no reason to arrest him.Feel free or course to argue that the ultra-left-wing Sun media hid something from the police notes that you happen to know about.
  10. There was an inquiry. Or most exactly a raid. Byt the police. Who didn't see any reason to arrest Layton.
  11. Apparently, the police officers who did NOT arrest him didn't know.
  12. You have evidence that Layton was, at that time, or at any other time, engaged in sex with a prostitute, minor or adult? You know something that the cops who did the raid on the alleged bady house didn't know or see? You even have information that ANYONE was convicted or even stood trial for any crime as a result of that raid? And if you have evidence that Layton was doing something illegal, why didn't you report it 16 years ago? More importantly, if you had evidence, does that mean you were there? Don't worry, I am not claiming you did something illegal. Nor do I expected you to be able to do anything other than to engage in baseless accusions fuelled by your anger that Layton is not to the right of Pinochet. Thank you for not disappointing me.
  13. Humiliated is a strong word, butif I had been in Layton's shoes I would certainly have felt embarrased. Still nothing that would cause me to think worse (or better) of how he is as apolitician or how he would be as Opposition Leader or PM.
  14. The optics is... he went to the wrong place to get a massage. End of optics.
  15. Accusing politicians of being obsessive, hypocritical and lying doesn't have the same scandal potential as a massage. After all, there are only two types of politicians - the obsessive, hypocritical and lying ones, and those who lose
  16. Well Layton has also been accused of being a fanatic commmunist bent on turning Canada into a Thrid-World country.
  17. Nobody accused Harper of being associated with the crimes Carson was sentenced for. That does not change the fact that his office should have been more careful in its dealing with Carson, especially when Carson may have committed illegal and or unethical acts as part of those dealings. This type of carelessness in political dealings is not a trvial matters, unlike biking to a massage parlour and finding out the embarassing way that police has suspicions about the place.
  18. Legimate massage parlours never ever get raided by police. As someone pointed out in one of the thread that have been deleted, it is not infrequent at all to have legitimate massage parlours raided by police, often on the basis of false complaints.
  19. Indeed, once is a lack of proper carefulness on a personal decision, that resulted in embarssement. The other one is lack of proper carefulness on a political dicision, which may have resulted in the commission of an illegal act.
  20. Somebody seeking (and keeping) a political office while crusiding against acts that he engages himself is an hypocrit. And that I would have a major problem with (more than the act itself) if that was the case. Since it's not what happens, the only thing I find interesting in the whole story is the lenght somee people will go to in order to make it something it is not.
  21. Under our system, he is still the PM and his government is still the Government until he resigns as a result of an election or loose the confidence of the House. So, if there is a possibility that he will form a government that will get the confidence of the House, he gets first dibs.
  22. If he was involved in an illegal sexual act, how come he wasn't arrested? Don't serve the "he was a politician" line. The cops themselves wrote that they were well aware that Layton was considered anti-cop. I do not think that they would have hesitated one second to lay charges on him.
  23. Nope. It,s because one case involves a lack of due carefulness in seeking a perfectly legal service of a private nature (a mssage). The other case involves lack of due carefulness in political dealings with a man who had a criminal past and may have been using illegal and/or unethical methods in his dealings with government.
  24. You're sure? From the Canadian Encyclopedia article on Sir Wilfrid Laurier`: You know what you can do with your "individual sovereignty" or any other Austro-Libertarian philosophy, policy or pipe dream. If one man was to blame for the financial meltdown that many countries around the world are still struggling from it's that Libertarian Greenspan, the former head of the US Federal Reserve. If Harper likes his Libertarian policy so much then let him pack his bags and head south. I heard this catchy tune on a local radio station today, "Steve It's Time to Leave" You can see who has the best chance to beat out the conservative in your riding at the Project Democracy web site. http://www.projectdemocracy.ca/
  25. Will be interesting to see the analysis on Tuesday morning. I still believe that the NDP support is soft, and that they will no score nearly as high as what the polls indicate (still high enough to be the Official Opposition though). But, even though the "scandal" will have little (if any) impact on the final results, you can bet that some analysis will use it as an explanation if the NDP vote is not as high as what the polls indicate.
