Are women in danger of losing their abortion rights?
Rick replied to Harry's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
How about the knuckle dragging baffoons get with the times and accept that we don't have to be like "every other Western country" because we've already been "enlightened" by simply watching the pro-lifers wringing their hands at the thought that abortion is still legal (as it damn well should be).Like I said earlier in this thread, where there's smoke there's fire and the fact is Harper has lied to Canadians many times over and proven without a shadow of a doubt that he will do anything in his lust for power. -
I highly agree.

Sticking your fingers in your ears and pretending it's not happening won't make it go away Shady. -

You mean like his broken income trust promise or his promise to never run a defecit or his promise of a transparent and accountable government?Where there's smoke, there's fire and in Harper's tea party..fire and brimstone.. Women should look no further than to the way Steve's idol, George Bush behaved down south when it came to abortion and stem cell issues. Or heck, the way Bush intervened in the case of Terry Schaivo... -
UH OH.... Looks as though Harper (or at least his right hand man and former Chief of Staff Guy Giorno) did know as far back as 2008 according to multiple letters sent to the Ethics Commissioner. Rest of the story here

Why do the Harper Conservatives dislike students?
Rick replied to Harry's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
You mean honesty as in Bev Oda's lying to parliament or honesty as in the Harper government's misuse and fraudulent quoting of the Auditor General Sheila Fraser ? -
Courtesy of a well informed voter at TGN It begs the question of just how blind are Harper's loyal disciples that they could actually look past these complete failings of the Harper government to continue to support a government which has been the most contemptuous in Canadian history and lacking in respect for the democratic institutions for which Canada stands for.

The U.S. already believe they are the world's dictator and that their policies should be forced onto the rest of the world without question. Just ask them... -
Sentencing is happening right now.The Colonel has already issued a guilty plea and admitted to these heinous crimes. The PM issuing comment on the murderer's pension would have no impact on either verdict, trial or sentencing. As for the Clifford Olson vs all lifers argument, the PM singled out Clifford Olson and referred to him personally. Military service should not put Colonel Williams above Clifford Olson nor exempt him from the PM's wrath.

They are without doubt the most democratic of the big three parties. As long as this party has been around, I'll concede to your view that they are no longer "new". The party really should rename itself the Democratic Party of Canada. Well you have a point there too. Only the die hard party faithful refuse to admit that they are for all intense purposes nothing more than the Reform party masquerading under the guise of the Conservative party's brand name in order to catch the unsuspecting fool who would vote Conservative.

Stephen Harper's outrage that Clifford Olsen a mass murderer, like Colonel Williams, was receiving his pension. The PM was bound and determined to put an end to Clifford Olsen's pension. Written in the Conservative friendly Ottawa Sun. Harper outraged over Olson pension

G8 and G20 summit security $ 1.3 Billion costs a bargain
Rick replied to Rick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Well until someone can explain why there was a need to waste $ 2million on tents for meetings which were held indoors at a lavish and large resort (Deerhurst) and in downtown Toronto's 5 star hotels, convention centre and surrounding buildings I can only question why anyone would bother to defend such wasteful spending.Of course, those who would defend it also have no problem with defending the waste of money spent on building a fake lake. -

Precisely. It was an absurd waste of our tax dollars. -

I believe that there was no true competition and that the same company was given both jobs due to their having already been given the first one by the RCMP.It still raises the question of why there was a need for $2 million in tents? -

Segnosaur, they paved over quarries to house OPP vehicles. They built a Fake Lake. Enough said. -
Has the defence minister, public safety minister or PM been as vocal about removing the pension of the killer Colonel as they have other criminals?I can't recall reading anything about their outrage that the Colonel will continue to receive his $60,000 annual pension.

It makes sense with the HOC back in session the voters start paying closer attention and realizing that the government's troubles didn't just disappear over the summer. So what comes first this time.. an election or the PM asking the new GG to allow him to once more prorogue parliament in yet another desperate bid to retain his reign?
