Why Alberta hates the Liberals/Trudeau
RNG replied to Jim Lahey's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
First @ Jim. How are we giving the oil away? (I live in BC now because I have to - health issues, but am still an Albertan at heart.) We sell our oil at prices set on a world market. Next @ PIK. How did you pay for the oilfields? -
The shroud of darkness has fallen on parliament hill

That is an interesting point of law I wasn't aware of. This appears not to be true in the US, given some suits I am aware of. Any legal types out there that can expound on this? -

Yes it does in that IIRC, he threatened a suit and got a large settlement from the government. -
The debate on this site is usually quite good. As in every other forum I have visited, there are a few from each extreme, but this has less insults and "is - isn't - is - isn't" type of exchanges than most. And Alberta is represented fairly well, but I have never gone to the provincial politics forum here.

Cooooooooooooooooooooooool, Dude! -
I didn't bother reading it, but several of the news websites I visit each morning had a story today about how the UN says 1/3 of all food is garbaged. So ....................

I assume WWWTT is referring to the SCC ruling that the PM and Cabinet Ministers are not bound by freedom of information regulations. I think it's a good decision. And brought down by mostly Liberal appointed justices. -
That's how it was for me too, in Alberta and Saskatchewan back then. But by the time my daughter hit school, she's 38 now, French was an elective that few took, and a foreign language was no longer an entry requirement for most Canadian universities.

NDP Constitution - An exercise in Marxism
RNG replied to Mr.Canada's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I don't think that at all. Small government, social liberalism and fiscal conservatavism are not all right wing tenants. -
SAGD is a relatively small part of it. Surface mining is the big thing. And I think the THAI will supersede SAGD. No water requirements and better recovery. And for the record, conventional reservoirs seldom surrender 30% of what they contain.

NDP Constitution - An exercise in Marxism

Great linguistic gymnastics. I may quote this from now on. -
Taxes and transportation costs. Why not let an oil company build a refinery in your back yard. And elect a responsible government. Then you too could benefit.

If they would actually state that they are fiscally conservative, I might think they are as close to the ideal of Libertarianism I long for. But they don't and won't. So I don't trust them.

My sister worked for the CBC. And she admitted that they are screwing TV in Canada. They have commercials, but they also get megabucks from the government. And anyone with two bits of brain to rub together realizes that that means from you and me. So because they are subsidized, they charge less for commercial time, which forces CTV, Global et al to have to charge less also. A totally unfair advantage. And this is from a loyal CBC employee.

I guess one of the downfalls of our free society is that we all are entitled to our opinion. And I am included in "all". So are you. But be ready to type your fingers to the last knuckle and I won't change my position on this. IMHO you are wrong.

Mr. Harper turns down an invitation to go to the royal wedding because he feels our democracy is important enough to forgo that personal pleasure, and she gets a pass for not postponing/changing her vacation plans. Yup, priorities.

Bump. And anyone want to guess what the outcome of Clement's "grilling" of oil executives will be? The same as Obama's. The unwashed masses will think their government is doing something.

It was on both the CBC and CTV websites that I visited this morning. And I do see both sides of the story. The Cons are saying that it legitimatizes drug use. The supporters say it saves lives. Pick one side and I will argue the other, but would have more enthusiasm for the pro-Insite side.

From your link. Looks like the crime rates are dropping to me.
