  1. Whatever the price, still cheaper than paying the cancellation penalty, then buying them 10 years down the road at an inflated price.
  2. You're right about it being Ike. Minor brain-fart there. Sorry.
  3. How is the public service accountable in any way?
  4. WRT the Arrow, a friend of mine who flew both CF-104's and CF-18's told me that there were two reasons the Arrow was cancelled. Which is more important, he didn't say. The Arrow was purely an interceptor aimed at taking out Soviet bombers but then the bastards invented ICBM's. And Kennedy hated Diefenbaker and swore to keep all the western allies from buying them. And with their western world political influence at the time it was a real danger. With only supplying the RCAF, the unit cost was ridiculous. The question I still have though, is why wasn't at least one sent to a museum.
  5. Yes. Alberta did it very successfully. Just the government didn't act on it. Cretin decided to appoint failed Lib candidates and old time party hacks instead. Do we want a democracy, or a Party Hackism?
  6. Seriously, are you saying the '16's are as good or better than the '35's?
  7. Come on .... 35 >>>>>>> 16. Who are you trying to kid. :) Why did the server or whatever cause my middle "" show up as it did?
  8. But be prepared for the deluge.
  9. As in elected office. It is an appointed office. Like our system allows the PM to appoint senators. Deal with it.
  10. I don't know what FMS is. Aren't F-16's so yesterday?
  11. And unlike Bombardier, they can do it without robbing me.
  12. I'm not religious, but Amen.
  13. Exactly. A senate seat isn't an office. Keep your mock indignation in check please.
  14. The US military-industrial complex wins again. Good for them (in an economic sense.)
  15. Given our "pounce first" media, I'm not so sure.
  16. When, other than in Alberta, has there ever been a move to have Senators be representatives of the territory they represent? Again, Alberta Conservatives are leading the pack.
  17. Why is the US refusing to export any F-22's, but are giving anyone with money (hyperbole, I know) the F-35? And two selfstyled military experts I know, one American and one Canadian who flew both CF-104's and CF-18's say that the F-22 is a piece of crap.
  18. Next time I'll be sure to include the [/sarcasm].
  19. What is the politically correct term for drama queen?
  20. I have often wondered how powerful are some cabinet ministers anyway. Don't the deputy ministers usually actually run the departments?
  21. I went to a half-day safety course that was held at the U of C, just because the outfit running it could rent the size of classroom they wanted there, and got a certificate. So I could honestly say I got a certificate at the U of C. Saying I got one from the U of C is another story.
  22. Great military strategy there, wannabe.
  23. Both Ireland and Pakistan were repressed by the British. That is the downside of being the symbol. She didn't do it, but she, and with justification IMO, gets the flak. But the Canadian experience is, I will stick my neck out and say all good. A bunch of FLQ types will probably disagree, but they are criminals that totally escaped justice.
  24. I guess the IRA and Paki Muslims don't really impact on me that much.
