  1. only israel says this. every other country including united states and canada do not recognize israel's annexation of east jerusalem. why? because under international law, east jerusalem is considered palestinian land. for those who are interested in the legal status of east jerusalem: Israel seized East Jerusalem during the 1967 war, in which it completed its occupation of all Palestinian land. Israel unilaterally expanded the boundaries of Jerusalem by annexing some 70 sq kms to the municipal boundaries of the West Bank area and evicting over 6,000 Palestinians from the Old City’s Mughrabi Quarter in order to create a plaza in front of Al-Buraq (the Western Wall). Israel then declared Jerusalem its capital. East Jerusalem was annexed shortly after the war in a move that has not been recognised by the international community or the Palestinians. more
  2. neither you or the link from unitedwithisrael.org mentions anything about east jerusalem not being part of israel. if israel wants to make west jerusalem their capital, why not? but the illegal annexation of east jerusalem is something you just can't pretend is not a huge issue.
  3. instead of sulking because i keep calling you on the misinformation you try to pass up as facts, try answering a post for once without deflecting comments and/or running away: here is your chance, post #1 and post #2.
  4. despite what israel says, east jerusalem is not recognized to be part of israel by the world. including u.s. and canada.
  5. you need to read benny morris' righteous victims.
  6. here is the play-by-play by alison weir The videos begin with Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, the handpicked chairman of the convention, standing at the podium. Villaraigosa calls on the Chair of the Platform Drafting Committee, former Ohio governor Ted Strickland. Strickland moves that the rules be suspended to permit an amendment to the platform. This passes quickly, as many people clearly have no idea what’s going on. Strickland then introduces the required amendment, and it is immediately seconded. Villaraigosa then says, in the normal Roberts Rules of Order rite: “Is there any further discussion. Hearing none, the matter requires a two-thirds vote in the affirmative. All those delegates in favor say “aye.” There is a large “aye” vote. He then says, “All those delegates opposed say no.” There is a “no” vote that is at least as loud, perhaps a touch louder. Villaraigosa then says, “In the opinion of the…” He suddenly stops, then says, “Let me do that again.” Things are going wrong and Villaraigosa has no idea what to do. The motion has just been defeated, since it requires a two-thirds vote and it has clearly failed to get this. Nevertheless, Villaraigosa soldiers on. “All of those delegates,” he begins, in the tones of a school master admonishing recalcitrant students, “in favor say ‘aye.” There is a large “aye” vote. Villaraigosa then says, “All those opposed say ‘no.’” There is an equally large “no” vote. Villaraigosa looks like a deer caught in the headlights. He gazes straight ahead and then from side to side, a foolish half smile fleetingly on his face. He starts to say, “I, um… I guess…” He gives his head a slight shake and looks behind him. A woman official can be heard quietly telling him, “You’ve got to let them do what they’re gonna do.” Villaraigosa announces, “I’ll do that one more time.” Keep in mind that the amendment has already twice failed the two-thirds test. According to all rules of procedure the amendment has been rejected. Nevertheless, Villaraigosa says again, “All those delegates in favor say ‘aye.’” There is a large “aye” vote. Villaraigosa says: “All those delegates opposed say ‘no.’” There is an equally large (in fact, it may be a slightly larger) “no” vote. The amendment has now been defeated three times. At minimum, half the delegates have rejected it. Is Villaraigosa going to repeat this vote a fourth time… possibly all night until they finally get it right? No. Perhaps someone has finally signaled to him to ignore the vote and simply read his lines. Or maybe he has figured this out for himself. By now, he has probably realized that his chances of being the next Obama have slipped through his fingers, thanks to uppity delegates who won’t get with the program. He decrees: “In the opinion of the Chair, two thirds have voted in the affirmative [boos can be heard] and the platform has been amended as shown on the screen.” He thanks Strickland for his service. Meanwhile, the boos increase in volume and begin to sweep the convention, while those in favor of the fix that just went through on national TV cheer loudly – apparently unconcerned that clear principles of fairness and proper procedure have just been flushed, in full public view, down the Democratic toilet, the alleged “people’s” party.
  7. and rightly so. under international law, which pretty much everyone, including u.s. and canada accept, east jerusalem is part of the palestinian territory. not often a political fix is displayed so publicly. watch this bizarre sequence of events: it's actually kind of hilarious, in a sad kind of way. but i guess this is part of america's 2 party system and obama has to compete with sheldon adelson's romney for donation money and avoid getting AIPAC's finger wagging.
  8. really now? their mistake that most were forced out or escaped the violent jewish militants who were going village to village destroying them? their mistake that 500 villages were demolished? what's next, you're going to blame women for being raped? you need to take a little time to learn what happened or you need to stop denying that you support a country with a disgusting history and a disgusting present: oh and hey look bonam, you skipped over another point showing that you're unable to respond to facts which show the dark and disgusting behaviour of israel: further to the information above, over 90% of the population of palestine, before the mass zionist migration from mostly eastern europe, were arabs. another bit of information that is forgotten by many including the hasbara bot are the refugees, whose right of return was recognized in UN resolution 194 of 1948. more information on this is below*. i mean, talk about pogroms eh bonam? 85% of the palestinian population was driven out or were forced to flee. thousands were slaughtered. over 500 villages demolished. happy birthday israel!
  9. the lack of balloons is the end of obama.
  10. further to the information above, over 90% of the population of palestine, before the mass zionist migration from mostly eastern europe, were arabs. another bit of information that is forgotten by many including the hasbara bot are the refugees, whose right of return was recognized in UN resolution 194 of 1948. more information on this is below*. i mean, talk about pogroms eh bonam? 85% of the palestinian population was driven out or were forced to flee. thousands were slaughtered. over 500 villages demolished. happy birthday israel! rue lives in his own little world in his own little mind where he's the funniest and most informed poster here. in his little world, he likes to re-create history of the world. he also likes to invent positions and statements made by others. i used to try to engage him but soon realized that it's useless to try to engage with those who are mentally unstable. * In the hostilities of 1948, 85% of the Palestinian population abandoned their homes, fleeing to the West Bank and Gaza, where one third, 15% of the Palestinian diaspora, still resides, and to the contiguous countries of Lebanon, Syria and Jordan.[8] They, and their descendents, who are also entitled to registration, are assisted by UNWRA in 58 registered camps, 10 of which were established in the aftermath of the Six Day War in 1967 to cope with new Palestinian refugees.[9] Including unregistered, displaced persons and refugee descendents, the Palestinians refugee and displaced population is the largest in the world.
  11. but you do because the israeli military that investigated itself says so. thank you hasbara bot.
  12. what i posted is that the israeli so-called justice system in the occupied territories is a sham. israeli and international human rights organizations and the u.s. government all agree that the investigation into corrie's death lacked transparency and credibility, which is what the judge in the case relied on.
  13. kangaroo court: Yesh Din "... 91% of investigations [by Israeli police in the OPT] into crimes committed by Israelis against Palestinians and their property are closed without indictments being served. 84% of the investigation files are closed because of the investigators' failure to locate suspects and evidence. ... Indictments were served in less than 3% of these cases."
  14. because i said the republican party is mostly supported by semi-literate whites? i'm white and i did my best to sit through and watch at least part of the conventions to get a sense of what's going on. watching the republican convention, all i saw were white people who, from their responses to empty fluff slogans displayed how they're semi-literate. watching the democrat convention, i mostly saw women and minorities who nodded and cheered every time the trigger slogans were made. do you deny that the republicans are largely white?
  15. in one corner we have the semi-literate whites who are desperately holding onto their god (who, by the way, is okay with bombing people, regularly cheers for the death penalty and doesn't believe in helping his fellow men). in the other corner, you have the women, latinos, blacks and every other minority. guess who is going to be whining and crying for the next 4 years. yes, shady and the rest of the semi-literate whites. guess who is going to lose? 99% of americans. behind all the rhetoric and jingoism coming out of the 2 party system, the large corporations are paying some big time money to both parties who will end up repaying for the corporations generosity at the expense of americans and the world.
  16. well. you sure ripped the other team's convention apart. way to go buddy. gooooooooo republicans!
  17. my comment was correct. the jews in palestine did live peacefully with the arabs in palestine. what happened in other countries and areas in the past is not a fault of the palestinians who were forced to give up most of their land so that european jews could move in. if you're looking for facts, i recommend asking those jews (the real descendants of prophet jacob) who lived peacefully with the arabs for thousand of years in palestine until the advent of zionism where the jews of europe(mostly khazars) migrated to the region and began terrorizing and displacing civilian palestinians from their own homes.
  18. bonam is right that there were persecution in some arab countries before the mass zionist migration to palestine in the early 1900s. however, this doesn't justify forcefully taking land in palestine just like it doesn't justify forcefully taking land in palestine because of what happened to the jews in europe.
  19. - is it okay to bulldoze the homes of IDF soldiers' families. how about bulldozing the homes of the bulldozers' family? collective punishment ftw! - how can a bulldozer driver not see in front of him? is it a design flaw in the vehicle or is it all b.s.? - how does anyone explain: "... 91% of investigations [by Israeli police in the OPT] into crimes committed by Israelis against Palestinians and their property are closed without indictments being served. 84% of the investigation files are closed because of the investigators' failure to locate suspects and evidence. ... Indictments were served in less than 3% of these cases."?
  20. pelosi makes me want to vomit. why am i torturing myself?
  21. seriously? this is what you got out of the history lesson? who said that anyone but jews have legitimate claims to the land? the history lesson was given to you to show you how ridiculous you sound when you keep trying to tell us that 'israel was liberated'. like israel as a country existed before and that the land belongs to 'israelis' and only israelis. here is more history lesson: the population of jews in palestine, before the mass zionist immigration from europe was less than 10%. it happened that the jews in palestine lived peacefully side by side with the muslim arabs and christians arabs. beyond the biblical stories, the jews who migrated to israel did not have any connection with palestine.
  22. who cares? screw god and the religious battles over jerusalem.
  23. buddy. what are you smoking? israel never existed before 1948. the canaanites were the first group of people to inhabit the land which has been called many names. most notably palestine. archaeologists and historian of the region, refer to the field of study as syro-palestinian. after the cannanites, the egyptians took power. after that, the philistines arrived and some settled in the region. so wtf are you guys talking about? there was never a country or nation or state of israel before 1948. how can you sit there and lie and pass misinformation?
  24. you're embarrassing yourself. First lady Michelle Obama received mostly rave reviews from independent political commentators and partisans on the left after her speech Tuesday at the Democratic National Convention — but perhaps most surprising was that her remarks even prompted a few conservatives to write some kind words about the first lady. “I hate to admit it, but Michelle Obama hit it a long way tonight, in my opinion. And overall, I fear that the Dems had a good night,” wrote Paul Mirengoff at Power Line. “I thought as a political speech it was excellent and did nearly everything she needed it to do. She was more comfortable and convincingly passionate than Ann Romney and made not only a defense of her husband the man … but also of her husband’s policies,” Jonah Goldberg wrote in National Review. politico here is wallace from foxnews accepting what a great speech it was.
