  1. Its a quebec movie based on a true story in theater since july 8th. When i say based, i guess we can say the movie is really construct just like it happend but like always, we can't say evrything in 2 hours. Its a murder case that is well know, a bit like quebec version of Homolka and bernardo. Its a mother that beat one of her children, she beat her really hard on a regular basis and the children end up dying because of it. Its in 1920 in a small town and we can see the citizens of the town gossip but nobody really want to interfere and when they finally do interfere, its too late. Im talking about this movie because its prolly gonna be the biggest canadian movie hit this year even if english canada prolly won't ever see or hear about it :/ I know it will be sub-titled... If ever you have a chance to see it, go see it for god sake you won't regret it even if its with sub-title. Cause its the kind of movie that could easily be nominated in Canne or for the foreign movie Oscars. One thing is sure is that it will be the movie winning half of the Genie award this year And a friend gave me the adress of a website on the Aurore story: http://www.canadianmysteries.ca/sites/gagn...oude/138en.html I could explain the story more but there is an easyer way to understand..., here is a quote from aurore sister (12years old) trial to have a sneak peak of the story im warning you guys its horrible: (Q= question at the trial) (A= sister's answer) .... .... Its totally horrible... even more because its a 12 years old little girl saying this at the trial....
  2. And don't forget... Reported civilian deaths resulting from the US-led military intervention in Iraq: 25814
  3. Your the perfect sample of what i meant... In his text, Bin laden didn't use religion to explain his war. However, most ppl asume thats what he doing cause they have no idea whats going on right now... why ? cause they watch tv and can't find quality information... I bet you didnt know that this all started in lebanon In quebec we actually have 1 tv channel from france and trust me, they have way better understanding of whats going on over there than canada or usa... here is 2 citations: partial transcript at: http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/meast/10/29/...den.transcript/ full transcript: http://english.aljazeera.net/NR/exeres/79C...BC36E87F61F.htm Thats the kind of thing you'll never heard in the news...
  4. We should blame it on the lack of quality media that should report and analyse way better whats going on right now in middle east... A sample, just before the american election, ossama made a video where he explained why when he was young he was an ally of america then why he changed his mind over the time... he explained why there is a war, how to stop it and evrything...he was speaking way more rational than bush. the transcript can be found over the internet. However, the media did a very bad job about covering this story, if you guys remember, they made it an electoral issue and didn't bother explaining it. They took one sentence, poorly representative where he was saying its not about bush or kerry. They didn't even bother finishing the sentence or explaining the context... Now ppl are wondering whats wrong with terrorism like if they where exploding themselve just for fun...
  5. What i would love for america is to start organizing just like in europe. You guys know how much wars there have been in europe ? How much empire tryed to conquer europe and failed ? history tend to repeat itself, im happy to see country working to build up an empire with no blood and in a democratic way. Sure its not a perfect empire but they are way more advanced and ahead of america. Free trade was 1 step forward for a new america, i beleive if quebec ever separate in the next few years, it wouldn't be a bad thing at all, maybe some ppl would start to understand that the world of tomorow is a world of large coalition, a world of "globalization" as they call it. Country's around the world have to cooperate more. In fact, maybe its the end of the traditionnal definition of a country , we are constantly evolving and we must find way to rethink the way the world is working.
  6. If ever ontario leave, i guess quebec would have no more reason to separate
  7. Last time i went to mcdonald, i was shocked, we now have the american super size format in canada i think.... Are we such in bad shape that canadian actually need a supersize portion !
  8. Rumors are circulating that he could be kicked out at the next convention. I even heard, the possibility of an election this years, a few weeks after the end of the pq leadership race.
  9. Did you just wake up from a coma? This looks like the stuff that people were writing back in 2002. Do you honestly believe that the US went to war in Iraq solely to benefit Haliburton (or, let's say, all American oil interests), and do you think the WMD issues and the democratization efforts and everything else was just blather to cover the oil issue up? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> In 2002 ppl were assuming this, now we have what can be called the proof that it was right.
  10. I agree on that. There have been political instabilities for years in quebec but specially since trudeau and the only politician that really wanted to fix this was murloney. The liberal are doing nothing, i don't know what they expect... Canada need a major reform to fix this instability cause the problem are at the root of the country and we can't grow without dealing with the problem the country is facing.
  11. I like it when people are using "jesus" name to make their point of vue. Its just so much funny to see how much religious people lack of rational arguments...
  12. So let me get this straight, socialists blam the USA for going in... yet now you get pissed that they want to rebuild it and help out? Wow, thats all I can say, wow. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thats not the point, im just worried. When the government is formed of people that are linked to the war industry and they go to a controversed war against iraq and those industry signs deals for billions... hmm it looks like a confict of interest to me. Let me ask another question, is it just a coincidence that the real president of the united states, Dick Cheney, worked at Halliburton for 5 years... Does he still have links over there ? do they talk to each others ? Could we pretend that its just a coincidence and that once the man become a politician, he had no more link with the company he worked ? It could be something similar to the sponsorship scandal. Use political power to boost a business with tax payers money ?
  13. Was it just business as usual ? Simply a new way for multinational and politician to leech more money from the taxpayer ? http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20050706/bs_nm/...alliburton_dc_6
  14. Nice text, its even more true in quebec. It became an extension of the sponsorship scandal and its quite clear when we see that more than half of the canada day budget is going in quebec...
  15. Can anyone explain to me why the Quebec gov't does not pass a law to require landlords to allow tenets who have lived in in a place for more than 12 months to leave with 1 months notice like the rest of the country - this would greatly reduce the JUly 1 chaos. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> More than half of the Inhabitants of Quebec move on July 1. However, for the few last years, the moving have been spread from June to September. Before 1974, it was in May that the majority of people moved. Then, at January 1 of this same year, a provincial law came into effect to standardize and determine the periods of the "bail". This law was never obligatory but it made it possible to the children to finish their school year in the same school before moving... and to the parents to move during the summer.
  16. Happy sponsorship sc... hmm Canada day !
  17. What frustrate me is when ppl say quebec is pumping money out of canada when in reality that money isn't used for quebec interest, alot of that money is used for stupid propaganda. The sponsorhip scandal was another sample... They also bought big canada flags specially for 21june to 1july insalled on federal buildings... The more we see that flag, the more it remember us of the sponsorship scandal... Also the fact that those flag are up the 24june is an act of provocation or a lack of respect for many... Canada could use that money somewhere else... They could use it to pay back the federal debt. A sample, of well spent money: Quebec is announcing a big investment of 3 billions for clean wind power elecricity. This will create 4000 construction jobs, 800 permanent jobs and 3000 MW of aditionnal electricity in one of the poorest region of quebec.
  18. Nothing wrong with good polictial paraody at Canada Day celebrations. I am assuming the song is primarily anti-Liberal not anti-Canada. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Its a political music group, actually they are sovreignist, not anti-canada but pro sovreign quebec and it can be felt almost evrywhere in many song. I read today in the newspaper, its not really a canada day celebrations, its more a community celebrations. The problem is that on the ads, the celebration was linked to the canada day celebration. There are sovreignist that will sing at the real canada day celebration but at least they don't sing pro-sovreignist song.
  19. lol, the funiest thing is they are going to play for one of the canada day concert
  20. "Liberate us of the liberal" or in french "Libérez-Nous des Libéraux" Ok, its a very funny story , its a political song that was made from a quebec music band. The band was not very known when it was made but these day, they are known evrywhere in quebec. Its a rap/hip-hop style music band a bit like the beastie boys, they made that song and the riff, "Libérez-Nous des Libéraux" is very catchy. One day they were invited to the most popular talk show in quebec and they played the the song, then since both of our government are liberal and both are doing a bad job, it didn't take long to spread evrywhere to the radio, in other tv show, the news, political assembly, in manifestation, in the strikes, evrywhere... In not even 1 year, they became famous, one of the most active band in the artist community. I just tought it was a funny story , the riff is just too much catchy once you hear it, it can't get out of your head. The best thing its that the song can be used to protest against both the federal and the proincial government I think its one of the small thing that made the liberal impopularity in quebec a gueniss record these day. Ok, the band is called Loco Locass, they are giving the song for free on their website. here if you want to download it: http://www.locolocass.net/mp3/liberez-nous...iberaux_128.mp3 Right click "save target as"
  21. It is such pointless... I read another article where they where talking about the canada day parade in montreal... the new organiser of the parade couldn't find any company to help sponsor canada's parade. They all didn't want to be linked with the new sponsorship ads symbol... Except two, the two federalist media in quebec, power corporation wich is linked with the liberal and the gazette. The funiest thing is what they do with this 3,7 millions ! alot of it goes to pay sovreignist music band to make music concert... They actually have to pay the big price to get sovreignist artist to play at the canada day when those artists come in big numbers to sings for free the 23-24th june for the quebec national holiday...
  22. Yup this is a nice day ! took alot of time but finally we can close that debate.
  23. Paul martin lack of leadership... since he's in power, nothing is really happening... Its been years we talk about SSM, isn't it time we get over it ? or does he want to make another election about it ? I think he trully don't care about canada, what he care about is the next election.
  24. lets bring in the private. we are the only country with cuba and north korea to have such an irrealistic system. If we could bring in the private sector like evry other progressive european country did it would be a good thing.
  25. Great text, You know what, when we first look at alberta and quebec, we can see the 2 opposite side of canadian politics. However, i just feel that alberta is the most fascinating and interesting province. the only province i would miss if we ever separate Isn't it ironic to see the conservative with harper who was in the reform party when he was younger get along with the bloc and duceppe who was a communist when he was young. Both fighting the same ennemy, the rest of canada's liberals. Maybe thats why we can get along. Because we are the less liked and stranger members of the canadian family and we are the one daddy his pointing out as the disfunctional members. And i just tought about something else, pre 60's quebec was similar to alberta except for the corruption part.
