TV station releases names of pilots in Asiana plane crash
Bryan replied to kimmy's topic in Media and Broadcasting
The funny part is, even in their subsequent apology, the station still insist that the NTSB provided them with those names. -
Plenty of things have occurred that were legal at the time. What's written on a piece of paper, and what is morally right are not always in concert.

Tory MPs seeking $355K in robocalls case
Bryan replied to Bryan's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Yes I have heard of all of those phoney scandals. They really emphasize just how good this government is. There's no real dirt, so the opposition has to hang on to these manufactured ones. -

Cleanest government in ages by far. -
Not if just getting a reaction was the goal. Getting a reaction out of people is a simple process of figuring out what their buttons are. Going for the "cheap heat" has got nothing to do with how you think, it's a matter of what other people might get upset at.

Bill has a point, this is annoying. I don't see this behaviour on any other site I visit. I aggravating part is "post data saved" when you know it isn't. If you don't copy it BEFORE logging in, that post is gone. On every other site, you get the "please log in" warning before you start to type your reply.

I've done the same for years. Easiest way to keep in good shape during time your going to spend commuting anyway.

Productivity Growth and the Minimum Wage
Bryan replied to Michael Hardner's topic in Business and Economy
Happens all the time. "This is what we are willing to pay, take it or leave it". Some take it, some let the work go overseas for even less. Work still gets done. -
Supreme Court Guts The Key Part of Landmark
Bryan replied to scribblet's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
I did not change anything. It's exactly the same position. It's not my problem you lack basic reading comprehension. -
Only if you consider yourself a "staunch gun supporter". (I don't) If you consider yourself a supporter of the right against unreasonable search and seizure, on the other hand, anything short of going apeshit is showing remarkable restraint. It's a huge problem. Not only is nobody overstating it, even the most vocal opponents are severely understating how bad this is.

Now I'm starting to wonder if this was the exact opposite of my first impression. Could this whole thing have been more PR ("See? We are on the job fighting terrorists") than actually addressing a legitimate threat?

Supreme Court Guts The Key Part of Landmark

My position has not moved at all. -
Our close relationship with the US makes us a target. Thankfully, the our law enforcement is doing a good job of tracking and stopping them. Looks like money well spent, even if the AG can't itemize it.

A&P bought Dominion, then sold it off in pieces to Metro, Safeway, and Loblaws. A lot of the stores closed in the process, including Winnipeg.

Exactly my point. The oversight is so lacking that no one even gets caught. -

I read it. No one is keeping stats that would document how much or how little there is. DoJ is not reporting stats that show anything, they are reporting a lack of stats. Huge difference. It is about fraud, and giant whole that exists to perpetrate it without anyone even having any mechanism to know that it's even happening. Asking for ID is the bare minimum you'd have to do to even be able to track how much (or how little) fraud there is. -
Absolutely. The hotel/resort chains with heavy presence in Spain and the Caribbean would LOVE a chance to bring millions of visitors and billions of dollars a year there. That would bring so much money to the working class for construction, tour operators, restaurants, entertainment, etc, etc. That's not even counting the bankroll in tips that resort workers make either! It's too bad too. I really want to go to Brazil. I train Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and the school used to organize regular junkets for students to go train at the original Gracie Academy and such, but it's just prohibitively expensive now. They don't have the tourist infrastructure that these smaller places have. I can take the whole family to Cuba for 2 weeks at a 5 star all inclusive for less than the airfare alone to Brazil.

Brazil is signing big trade agreements they never had access to before. Their products and companies are showing up all over the globe. Import, export, and tourism agreements are being implemented, but the absolute benefits measurable at home are still a few years away.

Unrefined heavy crude oil is dirty because the ground is "dirty". Gravel is "dirty". Sand is "dirty". Top soil is "dirty". Also, LOL at using the Tyee as a source to refute critique of a far left political position. Good one!
