  1. Rabble? What other sources are you going to post? Pravda? Granma?
  2. They look like they are well compensated to me: http://www.makeafuture.ca/career-resources/salary-finder/
  3. Learn some history and get back to me.
  4. What? They've been begging for Russia to help for several years. The independence movement has been going on since the early 90's. Being tacked on to Ukraine is not something they ever wanted.
  5. They've been trying to separate from Ukraine since at least 1992. They've been asking Russia to intervene since 2009.
  6. You have the situation backwards. Imagine if Quebec separated, and a small part wanted to stay Canadian. So Canada goes in to help them with that, and the international community (lead by France) labels it as an "attack" on an independent Quebec. That's what we are dealing with in Crimea. RUSSIANS, who always identified with Russia, who have been asking to re-join Russia for years. Then, when things are really getting crazy, they beg for Russia's help, and they finally get it.
  7. And it is. Adjoining it to Ukraine was an artificial construct imposed by the old Soviet Union. Crimeans ARE Russians, and they've asked for Russia's help, so they're getting it. It could happen. It's not as if anyone will do anything about it other than complain. Nobody is prepared to go Nuclear over Latvia. In a somewhat related development, there's also this: http://news.nationalpost.com/2014/02/27/why-did-russia-send-spy-ship-to-cuba-no-word-from-communist-nation-as-armed-vessel-docks-in-havana/ Fourth one since December.
  8. The union is looking out for it's own bottom line. More members, more membership fees, more wages, etc. Never expect to make any sort of sacrifice themselves, no, let's just take it out of everyone else's pockets.
  9. You keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means.
  10. Overall, very good for the country as a whole. That it could drive a stake into the CAW is just a nice bonus.
  11. I already told you, anyone who has spent time at the polls has seen it. The fact that the incidents are NOT recorded is the problem. Elections Canada is not taking democracy seriously, so they are going to be forced to.
  12. No one is afraid of anything, other than spending a lot of money and wasting a lot of time on something that is long overdue for an overhaul. The usual suspects will just drag everything out with wild accusations and no solutions, so why bother? Better to just fix it and be done with it. The funny thing is the people claiming that stopping voter fraud is targeting left-leaning voters. It's as if they don't even realize what they are admitting when they say it.
  13. Anyone who has scrutineered has seen shady vouching, and crazy irregularities at the polls. The EC volunteers are practically voting for the people at the seniors blocks, and people walk in with only a hydro bill as their only ID, then use that to vouch for 5 or more of their "friends". I've seen plenty of it, every election. Is there an official record of this? Of course not, and that's the point. Elections Canada won't report it nor will they log a third party report because as far as they are concerned that activity is fine. That's why we need more defined and strict guidelines, so that such behaviours DO get reported.
  14. False accusations are common enough to be a very real concern.
  15. No one in any Conservative camp that I'm aware of has ever promoted getting off of criminals' backs. What they do often lament, is the lack of enforcement of the law. Adding a ticket for possession will help with that, so that there are less options for police and courts to just let the offender go.
  16. I never said anything of the kind.
  17. Your attitude is precisely the problem. It's not rape if you change your mind later. Take some responsibility for your own actions.
  18. Not even close to the biggest. Trudeau's deficits were substantially higher. What there was, was done at the insistence of the opposition in a minority parliament. The other options are the people who complained that the CPC were not spending ENOUGH. In the meantime, once they got their majority, the CPC has erased that deficit in record time, while LOWERING taxes, and INCREASING finding for healthcare -- polar opposite of how the LPC did their budget slashing. And significantly more to show for it. A 44% increase in the net worth of the middle class, significantly lower taxes, and one of the strongest economies in the world.
  19. You can say it, but you'd be wrong. Anyone can choose to get informed and be engaged.
  20. When was the last time any other government ever lead our country to a better fiscal position than the US during a recession? When things are bad in the US, they're usually far worse here, but we sailed through most of that at the top of the G7. During tough fiscal times, other governments gave us policies that resulted in higher taxes, higher interest rates, higher unemployment, and more inflation. Fiscally, we've got it VERY good compared to what both the Liberals and the NDP were proposing.
  21. Next day regret does not mean lack of consent the previous night.
  22. The issue right now is, most of those simple possessions just get dropped if it's not severe enough to press formal charges. The new way, we'll be able to ADD the simple ticket in addition to the punishments already in place to make MORE pot users get punished.
  23. They are though. The ones who are engaged and informed are smart enough to know that these things matter, and that they absolutely can do something about it. The ones who aren't, well…. aren't. "Smart" might not be the nicest choice of adjective, but it's not wholly inaccurate either. More accurate would be to label those who are disengaged and uninformed as ignorant, but you're not going to win any friends going with that either. The majority of people are not informed enough about pretty much any topic to be actively involved in anything that could affect other people. If they know anything at all, they know what they saw on the TV news which is a small snippet of the bigger picture, usually presented with heavy bias. They really do not know enough to actually have an informed opinion about which candidate has better policies than the other. If those people don't vote, we really are better off for it.
  24. An NDP/Liberal merger would be smaller than the sum of its parts. A lot of blue liberal voters, financial supporters, insiders, and elected officials would leave. Not only that, the Quebec NDP support would probably collapse, likely resulting in a resurgence of the BQ.
