  1. No. The employer made an offer that was already far too generous, and the union is trying to bleed the taxpayers dry. As usual.
  2. Your english is amazing compared to my Finnish.

People (both religious and not) get too caught up in what is or isn't in the Bible. Even if you're one of those who believes that the Bible is absolute truth, there's nothing about that that says that things NOT in the Bible are not true. Each story is a short account from the perspective of the person who wrote it. That doesn't mean that a lot of other stuff didn't happen, nor that a lot of other people weren't around.
  4. Who told you that? http://news.ontario.ca/archive/en/2002/01/15/Thousands-caught-through-Harris-government39s-tough-welfare-fraud-measures.html Over 17,000 cases of fraud in the first year.
  5. They don't "deserve" anything. They are already being paid very well by other people's tax dollars. You want them to make more, you pay them out of your own pocket, stop trying to take it out of others people's.
  6. If you get it, why did you bring it up?
  7. They aren't in the private sector.
  8. If you say so. I'm not familiar with what the CIA is or is not doing in those countries.
  9. Not all of them are being paid, but all of them are being lied to about what is waiting for them once they arrive. Many of them end up returning to Cuba once they realize the grass isn't always greener.
  10. Many of them were, and continue to be paid to be part of the Gusano community in Miami, and to plot terrorism against Cuba.
  11. I don't mean to negate your point, but that's not really true. It's more of a "yes/and" situation than an "either/or". That is, the people who pirate the most are ALSO the ones who pay for the most content. The most prolific music pirates buy the most CDs, movie pirates buy the most DVD/Blurays, TV pirates have the biggest cable packages. Your conclusion is still right: give people a convenient and reasonably priced way to pay you for your content, and they absolutely will do it. Make it a pain in the butt, and they'll just download it.
  12. Most of the people whose taxes are paying for those salaries won't see raises like that. Thanks for taking away any doubt that this really is about teachers being greedy, and has nothing to do with educating children.
  13. The US has been inserting themselves into Cuba illegally in far more ways than a fake twitter. The whole dissident movement in Cuba is an American fabrication. They pay people to create fake dissident organizations, then when those people get arrested for being foreign agents, they get paid even more to claim their rights were abused. It's pure propaganda.
  14. The same point their other anti-CPC reporting. It's what they do.
  15. That's the narrative the media tried to portray.
  16. Funny you should mention that. Misleading robocalls trying to circumvent Conservative voters are a big part of those undocumented irregularities. Many CPC candidates were lodging complaints to EC long before it became a meme for the MSM. When the CPC were complaining, they didn't wanted to hear it. But when someone from the left complains? OK, now well talk about it. That kind of partisan bullshit within a supposedly neutral agency has to stop.
  17. People volunteering at the polls have reported irregularities. Just because EC doesn't keep track of them doesn't mean the volunteers don't. The party still keeps track. CPC makes sure they have members of their EDA's present at the polls (I do it every election). Other parties don't do it nearly as much. Last election, I was the only scrutineer at the poll I observed -- even during the actual count.
  18. Don't kid yourself. Retailers are increasingly faced with informed consumers who know what the value of the products they're buying are, and aren't afraid to say it. When they go in, and the product they're looking for is MUCH higher than than the price they found online, they let the retailer know why they are losing that sale. It's not just people driving across to shop, cross-border e-commerce is huge. People are even combining the two, getting things shipped to a US border town, then driving down to pick them up -- it saves a lot of money on shipping. I have an account in Pembina, ND (right on the border), that I only pay a flat fee for when I use it. That way when I see something that's not only a better price, but has free shipping in the US (but prohibitively high shipping to Canada), I can still order it and save.
  19. Elections Canada does not record it when people report it, that's the problem. A big part of why this bill is necessary, is because the govt has been telling EC to actually log complaints for a long time and they won't do it. As a scrutineer at the polls, I have personally witnessed, reported, and even intervened in several cases of voting irregularities, and Elections Canada will not even TAKE the complaint. Now it's going to be out of their hands. The loopholes are getting closed, the reporting mechanism are being established, and Elections Canada is getting much needed oversight.
  20. Even a Hydro Bill should not be enough. Anyone can walk down the street and grab someone else's mail. It's also a lot easier to print out a fake one than most methods of official ID. It would actually be really easy to print out a stack of fake ones and just parade the same group of people from poll to poll. It doesn't even matter if no one has ever done that, it's the possibility that someone could that needs to be closed off.
  21. You're both right. AvtoVAZ, the company that makes Lada, was founded as a joint venture between Fiat and the Russian government. Fiat is no longer involved, but Renault-Nissan is a partner now. They still are a major manufacturer making very modern automobiles, over a million a year. The Lada we are most familiar with really is Italian. Fiat set up the Russian factory to produce Fiat 124's for the eastern European market. The problem was, Fiats were notoriously unreliable cars ("Fix It Again Tony" people used to say). If anything, the Russian built versions were better than the Italian ones (especially the brakes and suspension), just not better enough to make a difference. Lada stopped building that model several decades ago.
  22. No one is asking for that. All they want is for you to prove that you are who you say you are. If you can't be bothered to do that, you're the one who decided that democracy is not that important to you.
  23. It was to confirm that the unanimous vote in parliament coincides with the will of the Crimean people. That's an extra layer of democracy that is rarely seen. Over 90% voted in favour of joining Russia.
  24. Captain Canuck!!!
  25. A little over 20%, but pretty close: http://incometax.calculatorscanada.ca/britishcolumbia
