  1. Angus Reid was the most accurate: Once Again, Angus Reid Provides Best Forecast of Canadian Election https://www.visioncritical.com/sites/default/files/pdf/2011.05.03_Results_CAN.pdf
  2. I'm not using any of those. The options provided by those "Big Guys" are pretty limited here compared to the local company. Local guy has better service, better signal, wider coverage, and costs less. My cell phone internet costs me less than my cable-to-my-house internet, and it's significantly more convenient in that I can bring my connection with me wherever I go, and still use it as a wifi hotspot for any other device.
  3. The data is in the links in the NYT article, but you already said you don't want to click on them.
  4. Agreed. You're either an adult or you're not. These staggered ages across the country are ridiculous.
  5. I've crossed at Hyder before. It was a little unnerving. We have several "honour system" crossings in Southern Manitoba where they have limited hours and if it's closed there's no gate, just no one there to see you through. But with those the deal is you're still not supposed to go through if it's not manned -- they just trust you to turn around and go to another crossing. When I was told, "no just go, it's good" at the Hyder crossing, I was sure I was being messed with. I fully expected people with guns to come out of the trees at any second.
  6. It won't help if the Zombie Apocalypse comes true either. Good thing both of those things are fiction.
  7. Those actually are legitimate points of debate. I like the amendment the Senate recommended regarding counting fundraising of previous contributors as a campaign expense. If you incur the expense during the election period, it should count.
  8. Unless and until the girl wants to come forward, it's a private matter. She's an adult, responsible for her own actions.
  9. And the left gets caught lying, AGAIN: http://www.vancouversun.com/technology/Downgrading+protection+humpback+whales+makes+sense+scientist/9764322/story.html
  10. This one? Conservatives lead Liberals, NDP among both eligible and likely voters in April | Angus Reid Global Likely voters: CPC 34 -- LPC 29 -- NDP 27
  11. That depends on your provider, and the device you're using. LTE is faster than most home internet connections.
  12. Still wrong.
  13. Of course, that is not what he said.
  14. I'm surprised that so many of you guys say you've been suspended on more than one ocassion. Considering how tame the conversation is here, that seems needlessly interventionist in the part of the moderators.
  15. It was silly of Toews to present that bill with his name on it before he'd read the whole thing, he definitely got caught with his pants down.
  16. Neufeld is a curious case. In the report, he clearly says that Elections Canada is incapable of ensuring the integrity of Elections in Canada. Now he says otherwise. He appears to have gone to the Vic Toews school of report writing: he appears to have not even READ it, let alone wrote it.
  17. My MP is very easy to get ahold of. Either she, or someone in her office, will generally return my calls/emails within a day. She's very accessible for face to face meetings too.
  18. Sheila Fraser is saying what she's being paid to say.
  19. Security and integrity of the process, that's the benefit. Being better than a banana republic with respect to actual democracy, that's the benefit. Opposition to it is partisan extremism and hypocrisy.
  20. They don't need any of that. They just need a cell phone or a tablet. My LTE plan has unlimited data and unlimited tethering. I can (and do) use my phone to deliver internet content anywhere I need it.
  21. You've shown no evidence whatsoever that anyone's rights are bering violated. Everyone will have the same expectations, and the requirements will still be extremely lax.
  22. The Senate did not change any substantial part of the bill. They made some good suggestions, some of which were already the intent of the legislation but were just not as clear as they should be. The Senate should be commended for treating the bill with respect, and making suggestions based on merit rather than partisanship.
  23. Most BC teacher pay scales are already a hell of a lot more than $50K, and a B. Ed can be achieved in less than 5 years. No one is saying they shouldn't be paid, because they are already very VERY well compensated for what they bring to the table.
