  1. No. they have not; That is an election promise and only for the very poor. Another man died on the weekend after being sent home from an emergency room???? Our health care in this province is scarey. Yes, we do. Vancouver, our largest city with much of our population is the most expensive place to live in Canada. House prices increased dramatically last year. My house increased over 100 thousand in one year. We are going to be paying through the nose for Translink and property taxes. How can young people who do not have very wealthy parents be able to own a home
  2. Then get a second job. I have no problem finding lots of work to do. Never mind the idealism of communism. Show me one communist country that provides the goodies that you envsion.
  3. Dream on Willy. Harper is a liability. He has foot in mouth disease. He must have bought his college degree. Must have cost a bundle.
  4. We have the highest cost of living in Canada; we now allow children of 14 to work without any safeguards We have very high medical premiums with poor healthcare and long, long waiting lists for medical procedures. We now have the largest segment of our population working for minimum wage which does not allow one to pay the bills. The rich have gotten richer and the poor much poorer. The unemployed is much higher than the "6%" ; those figures do not show people who are not collecting EI or who have just given up. Much of our increase in employment is minimum wage and due to increase in fuel prices and China's appetite for our coal has allowed many mining towns to re open.
  5. Likewise; I am tired of your ignorant remarks. Nothing in life is free. Someone has to pay for it. You need to face reality and some logic. Don't tell me to read some idealistic crap; show me a communist country where it is a utopia. Everyone gets any education they wish "FREE"; gets all the medical care they require; and can sit at home on their duffs collecting good support from government without working. You are dreaming. Time to wake up to reality; put forward a little effort and initiative of your own; get a good education and work hard at getting a good job and promotions.
  6. Harper must understand that he will NEVER be Prime minister. I wouldn't vote for him for dog catcher
  7. If you have a half a brain; you know that these so called BC Liberals are as right as any Conservatives. Campbell just didn't have any conservative leader with any votes to back stab.
  8. The one also had a grow operation. We don't have all the details but there is more than influence peddling. As for BC rail; The money making rail operations they sold are cleaning up now shipping coal. This was a poor deal.
  9. Hmm Willy looking at your last post federally; you seem to realize that the Liberals are involved in lots of illegal activity. You sure have a point with these BC Liberals.
  10. This latest speech and many more before. Let's not forget; he suddenly claimed to have backed Canada not joining the USA in the Iraqi invasion come election time. Perhaps he just has a bad memory problem.
  11. That is a false comparison. We are not nor ever have been a part of the USA. Of course, everyone wants to protect the benefits associated with being a neighbouring country. That does work two ways. The USA does have the moolah but we have the resources. China is now the worlds largest consumer. hehe The USA may get nervous.
  12. Gee, so you think that you Conservatives will make even bigger "gaffs" Gee that is so reassuring. Thank goodness ; he is not our prime minister. He makes Martin look like a real intellect in comparison.
  13. You haven't seen what the idiot Campbell and his right winged "Liberals" have done to BC.
  14. We are not defended by the USA; we may need to defend ourselves from the USA. We do belong to Nato and the UN which is supposed to afford us extra protection. Canada does send our forces around the world; generally for peacekeeping purposes. Why should we not expect those we halp to help us in a time of crisis. The military and disaster responses teams and the coast guard should be united as one larger unit. I would rather see a smaller well trained military that is capable of assisting in times of natural disaster and/or military attack. Those who patrol our shores should be capable and available for helping in rescues on the sea or shoreline as well as patrol for illegal entries or activities. We don't need a large untrained military such as the USA which has too many "friendly fire" incidents.
  15. This article is from the UK Telegraph. Seems like Bush is again making veiled threats against Iran.
  16. Yeah, well Bush won't be in office forever
  17. Pakistani scientist sold nuclear technologies to these "rogue" nations ; were immediately pardoned; and allowed to keep their ill gotten gains with not a single rumble from the Bush regime. Weeks later the USA declared Pakistan to be an preferred ally and allowed to purchase up to the minute American military equipment> It is the USA's aggression and threats; the invasion of Iraq while they were cooperating with the UN and destroying some borderline illegal weapons that has prompted these rogue nations to declare that they do have the nuclear abilities to deter an attack on them.
  18. Beats being famous for using fraudulent and forged documentation, and lies to invade a foreign country.
  19. While I am no big fan of Paul Martin; this article in a foreign / international magazine ignores a reality. Martin is leading a minority government which prevents firm quick decisions. Martin could and would/ lead much differently if he had a majority government.
  20. Canadians are seen as more friendly; The "ugly American" does exist; arrogant and loud; proclaiming I am American; believing that gives him special rights. They are not the majority of Americans; I am sure; but their loudness and arrogance gets the attention. I had one bitching at me as the lottery tickets don't show the odds the same way as it does in the USA. I didn't even run the lottery store. I just told him if he doesn't like our system of selling lottery tickets; don't buy them. Americans wear our flags to avoid confrontation regarding American policies and to avoid being held hostage or whatever. Some colleges suggested to their students to display the Canadian flag for safety especially since the Iraqi invasion.
  21. Even Antarctica?????? Come on now you are really speaking nonsense. Other than the America genocide of their first nations people; North America has had less wars. I won't argue the tyranny of our southern neighbour.
  22. The UN is indeed a necessary and could be an effective tool in keeping world peace. However, many changes need to made to make it a more viable organization. The "Permanent Five and their respective vetoes must go. First the "permanence does not adjust to a changing world with respect to the waxing and waning of countries in importance and influence. Even more important is the fact that these countries use their vetoes irresponsible and do not follow interpreting international law. Perhaps there needs to be a legal justification that stands up to international srutiny before a veto is accepted. Another change necessary for the UN to be effective is a mechanism whereby they can legally enforce collection of funds for them to perform necessary operations. At the present time; this is merely voluntary and many countries withhold their share of funds. The USA was and is again a "deadbeat nation" One source of funds could be a taxation collectable on all military equipment and supplies. It may be necessary for the UN to have an international military/ peacekeeping unit that can respond quickly and which would then draw from member countries to expand its numbers during a crisis.
  23. Nor are all those showing the Canadian flag all Canadians; many are Americans.
  24. We are not basically anti American. Many of us have many friends and relatives who are American. I believe that at least 50% of Americans are not thrilled with the actions of Bush/Cheney administration, either. We despise the present administration and the actions they have taken. No, we will not trust a new administration that quickly. The USA will have to earn back our trust with its actions under a new administration. I think that will be healthy for Canada / Canadians to keep a sceptical eye on the USA and work towards building a stronger more independent Canada. We need to diversify our trade partners. China has just now overtaken the USA as the largest consumer of the world.
  25. Not likely, this time around. It will be a fight of the NDP and "liberals". The new party will probably require more time unless they really hit the ball out of the park in the debates. BC ers need to hear the full story on the raid on the legislature; influence peddling, and ministerial aides and their dope dealing. We need to be know that this government is not going to be balancing budgets in the next few years; that the deficit is going to raise again; according to the local papers; it will raise another 4 billion. Voters need to remember that while we now have a surplus (thanks greatly to federal transfer payments) these "Liberals" sold off our assets; made large cuts to social programs for kids and women and increased the deficit while downgrading our medical system. Most voters here don't think; they just vote out the previous government. Of course, they are handing out little goodies and lowering taxes; will people buy the goodies that don't come close to restoring our previous level?? Bush was re elected; nothing would surprise me.
