Doesn't come remotely close to how much US has spent on other wars. If you recall the french and brits were also involved in the Nato bombing of Libya.

Did obama bow to AIPAC? You bet he did. That's the US election for you. It's called apeasement! Over the past week or so Israel has been racheting up taking military alone. On the surface that's what they want to show the world. The problem is the israeli government wants it both ways. Do it alone and appease to US for support. The strategy is to stay close to US even to the extent of 'sucking up' whilst claiming they can do it alone. Do not be under any illusion there is not much love for for the muslim Barak Hussein Obama in the Bibi government.

Google it doggie.
-
Yep. If you watched the whole movie how the persians were depicted then you shouldn't whine about a subtle transition Any country that enjoys a good neighbourly relation would resolve these through civilised means. Besides what has this got to do with the fricking discrimination of Iranian/ Americans because of their ethnicity or country of origin? If it was jews receiving same treatment you would have your pal doggie screaming about anti semitism.
-
Doesn't mean a damn thing. Yep paranoia is kicking in. You know I feel certain bond between Iran and Amercia too
-
Congratulations! You and your gay friends should have worn some panties, putting some oil on your legs and abdomen to experience the whole Spartan thang. Ah that old chessnut...Let's blame the canadians...
-
Plenty of sources on the web. Google it!
-
Ofcourse you do..But then again you prefer Israel to America. But don't worry I wouldn't want to live in either country neither Iran nor Israel that you try to depict as heaven.
-
300? Found that entertaining. I am talking about real issues. Things like this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iranian_American#Demography Excerpt: With that kind of background makes it no different from the government in Iran. Whilst on the other hand we have this guy a Harvard professor who is afraid of Iranians...It sure tells you about the achievement of these mischievous iRanian immigrants that are doing a bloody good job in the US...
-
You sound surprised.
-
What is it with you that everytime there is a conversation on any issue you drag in Canada?

Countries go through change and learn from their experiences. It doesn't mean that history has to repeat itself... The foundation of the US is based on accepting the change to appreciate and attract talents and encourage a competitive environment. Wherever they come from...Just read your own link you posted here and see what those immigrants have contributed. No, you don't get it. Discrimination against a whole nationality is not subtlety by any stretch of imagination. Maybe in some deranged world.... Pew...For one moment I thought you were running short of sending all iRanians to concentration camps...So much for subtlety. Not!
-
Nonesense! People dramatise things and blow it out of proportion to make a case. That doesn't mean that you are right. If I disagree with you on this that doesn't make me an apologist. Whilst there are practises within islam which require change there are practises within the old testament that should also be critisized without labelling one as anti semite.
-
Can you substatiate how Turkey is moving towards sharia? Just because they have a government with islamic lieniency doesn't validate this argument.
-
Heck all those persian jews who emigrated to US must be feeling the level of hatred.
-
You made the statement that Ddiscrimination is part of US experiment not me. Although I totally disagree with that statement as it's your opinion not a fact. Thankfully we have come a long way since KKK or any other minority racist movements. Any sane immigrant be it a jew or a non jew will feel the hit by discrimination or hate speech shownagainst their whole nation/ race nevermind paying dues. Why should Iranian/ Americans living for decades in the US pay the price for their government? Why should there be a difference between an Iranian living in the US and an Irish or German immigrant?
-
What load of crap! America is built by immigrants.... By your logic or lack of it if the same discrimination applied to jews then nobody should scream oh that's anti semitism.
-
Yep... Perhaps you should also read the part in the same article where it talks in length on anti-iranian sentiments in the US: People here are often quick enough to criticize the actions of the Iranian government whilst neglecting the very fact that these kinds of discriminations exists in the so called "free society" against Iranian/ Americans! This is blatant hypocrisy and discrimination against a race.

Best argument for not striking Iran i've heard yet
kactus replied to Moonlight Graham's topic in The Rest of the World
Yesterday's wars with muslim countries were over evil Iraq, Libya, Afgahnistan. The case then was presented to us as they are all a bunch of terrorists...Tomorrows war is over evil Syria another muslem country singled out for guess what. They are the enemy of Israel and therefore evil. So don't tell me it's only Syria and Iran. How many other muslem countries do you want to single out pick a fight under a pre-text of those ridiculous terms "war on terror", "arab spring" and shovel a manfactured democracy down their throats? On the Vatcian are you kidding me??? Do you know how much influence they have? Neither am I comfortable with their influence and the role of vatican church in africa. -

well, Mugabe is still alive and kicking...This just goes to prove my point that most of these wars as you pointed out have a strong correlation with a certain commodity. So next time please spare me the thought that the pre text of war is because Iran is a threat to Israel. Fact remains that Iran is a regional middle tier player. Any increase in their influence will downplay the bargaining power of the west over that commodity crude oil as we know it. -

Well said...! -

I think the whole positioning and language that emanates here is misleading. It is formed on the basis that them meaning iRan and the muslim world from the East are evil and WE meaning the west that would include Israel can hold the high moral ground of doing whatever act we deem necessary under the pre text of self defense! Yes any act by whatever means we feel is justified even it means killing innocent civilians... Afterall, why should the west care about leaders of these countries when their leaders have been running these countries for decades...Saddam, Gaddaffi and the list goes on. But heaven forbid let's not talk about other dictators like Mugabe... So the question remains why should the people of these "evil countries" have any faith in the REAL motives of foreign invaders when they inherit a puppet democracy style government installed in their country backed by western governments? -
About time there is some positive coverage.....

Has nothing to do with rationality. Governments do use events to score a political point. That includes the government of Israel, who is not exactly blameless... But more to the point why is it that you cannot make a single positive comment to appreciate a talent when the credit is due and instead search the web for an article to belittle his great work with politics?? At least Moonlight Graham saw the "cultural" angle to this and apreciated his work. -
Experts Say Iran Attack Is Irrational, Yet Hawks Are Winning the Debat
kactus replied to bud's topic in The Rest of the World
I am not stating that you should know. What I mentioned about dempgraphy of the population in my earlier post is a fact that is undisputed. You can be sure that if a foreign force decides to take over Canada tomorrow (let's say for the sake of argument) that will bring a sense of unity amongst canadians irrespective if people hate their government. Many Iranians of this new generation may not appreciate the policies of the government but they love their country and its heritage. This has nothing to do with supporting clerics but much more to do with nationalistic sentiments. Furthermore, the new generation are very well tuned into the latest news on the region and can see what happens to those countries whose regime collapsed and a puppet government were backed by western governments in the name of democracy! And still no sign of better prospect yet. Middle East and North Africa is full of countries that fit this and no one can just keep a close eye on the events unfolding....Again as I pointed out earlier a change within the regime was already tried and tested as many know in the context of the "green movement" three years ago when there were rumours that there was an election fraud. You have to realise that the internal political forces within Iran are quite well established with many divisions and is not a tin fold puppet government you see in many middle eastern country. The link below provides a comprehensive detailed overview of the Iran's polical parties and the cleric rule for those interested: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-17141030 -

Yes you are right! That doesn't seem to be very clear. One thing that does get not mentioned are the list of foreign movies chosen for oscar nominations...Same director also won this award. Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfU-w7Pmro4
