Khadr should make us ashamed to be Canadian
Sir Bandelot replied to Leafless's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
Answer is clear but then if you want to get hurt, just go about 40 Trudeau units from your own home. Some of those neighbourhoods, will cut you up quite nicely. So, I guess that all New Yorkers should be feared as criminals, by the same logic as you have... -
But is it an islamic triumph? My view it is unfair to call it that. It is a triumph of radical islam, yes? Radical islam has to be marginalized. So the right thing to do is to encourage the millions of moderate muslims, in America and around the world, to marginalize them. In fact if we push away the moderates out of anger for the radicals, just gives them another victory.

White House Backed Release of Lockerbie Bomber
Sir Bandelot replied to Shady's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Well first we heard that British Petroleum had something to do with it, because they wanted to score a deal on some Libyan oil wells. So what's in it for Obama. -
And what does "Banned" mean? What are the consequences of wearing a veil, when it is banned? Get arrested? Banning would be going too far. If there are situations in which the face of the person must be seen, for ID purposes then let them momentarily remove the veil. There is no need to criminalize a piece of clothing that is culturally important to muslim women. Let us not go down the same road as the French chauvinists.

I agree Pliny, but dose that mean all islam is political? What about other religions, are they truly non-political? And if we were to use that criteria, then all political groups that are non aligned to the current system or party in power, could be deemed a threat. That includes socialists, anarchists, libertarians, communists, neo nazis etc. Yet they are still allowed to gather in groups and hold rallies. It's a fine line to cross, and in some cases, one could argue, some of these do pose a threat. So looking back at muslims, in particular the ones who want this mosque, can we say they are more threatening than any of these groups? Seems to me that Mr. Gingrich has insulted a lot of law abiding US citizens.

Seriously, no one wants to have lunch with the Taliban. We need to drop the tired old "hug the Taliban" rhetoric. I think that most everyone agrees about the nature of the PROBLEM, which is very real and evident. What we don't agree on is the SOLUTION. -
Would you support this to improve healthcare?
Sir Bandelot replied to Moonlight Graham's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Yes that is the real truth. THese people live on an elite tier and as such any "shortages" are quite welcome, by the OMA. -
Canada's health care system sucks
Sir Bandelot replied to Argus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Wherever there is big money on this kind of scale, there will be corruption. That's guaranteed. It doesn't matter how it's funded. The only way to make such systems work is by constant vigilance and reforms. Corporate boards, management, unions, all should be replaced every 20 years. -
When the prime minister fired her, he was faced with a choice. He knew that firing her would hurt the party, because he was forcing a minister to resign. If it could be denied or ignored, that would cause less damage. He would not consider dismissing a minister, and the damage that creates in the public image, unless keeping her would be even more damaging. Harper is also cognizant of the implications of dismissing someone wrongfully, ie. Lawsuit. So, unless Harper re-instates her we can only conclude, there is something rotten in the state of Canada. Which we already know but the question is, just how rotten. Rotten enough for a cover-up?

Canada's health care system sucks
Sir Bandelot replied to Argus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
That's true when it comes to making light bulbs, but we're talking about health care. How does China rank on the list? But I do not believe the socialized system is superior to private, just that this particular problem will still exist, in either system. Just look at car insurance as an example. The privatized companies simply band together and make agreements behind closed doors, to protect their own interests. And no neutral third party (government) has anything to say about that. We are corrupt. Because the corruption is not particularly in this or that system. The corruption is in us. -
Canada's health care system sucks
Sir Bandelot replied to Argus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Here's why it is my right- I pay my tax money into it, I better get my stuff out of it. Simple as that. Otherwise, you can watch the night fires burning, at a government office near you. -
Collapse of the US economy
Sir Bandelot replied to trex's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Yes, indeed. Fed chief sees an 'unusually uncertain' future WASHINGTON — Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke told Congress on Wednesday the outlook for the economy remains "unusually uncertain". Bernanke said the Fed would consider action if matters worsened. His comments to the Senate Banking Committee sent stocks tumbling. The Dow Jones industrial average had been up 20 points before he spoke. It fell as much as 160 points during his testimony, but recovered some losses to close down 109 points. Investors shifted money into the safety of Treasury bonds; the yield on 10-year Treasury notes fell to 2.86 percent. -
OPP corruption investigation in Ontario Ministries
Sir Bandelot replied to capricorn's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
I'm all for an OPP investigation into corruption in the ministries. Also for a ministry investigation into corruption in the OPP. I'm sure you can see where this is going. The question is, who's watching the watchers? Sorry, my pessimism is a bit high lately... -
EXACTLY. This should teach all the knee jerk jerks to check their frikkin sources, and not trust everything you see and hear on the internet. Why did they fire her without a decent investigation, starting with talking to her and getting the whole story? Would have saved them from looking stupid, and saved her from losing her job for no reason. Maybe, but there are some who won;t admit they've made a mistake, in some sad desperate attempt to save face. It only makes them look worse. "The Obama administration said it was standing by its decision to oust Sherrod, despite evidence that her remarks were misconstrued and calls for the USDA to reconsider." http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/38321920/ns/us_news-life/ I've heard of the Darwin award. Is there a Jackass award?

Canada's health care system sucks
Sir Bandelot replied to Argus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The problem is clear and obvious, and will not be dealt with by adding more money- Too many beaurocrats and administrators making 6-figure incomes, for desk jobs. Too many incompetent managers who only care about progressing up the ladder, to get those desk jobs. Too many lazy-assed unionized workers who don't give a damn about doing their jobs. Simply too many hogs at the trough. From a person who has worked inside the system now for almost 25 years. -
Yeah, I wonder what would have happened if she had been a white woman, and said those same things about a black farmer...

Has The Population Bomb ... Fizzled ?
Sir Bandelot replied to Michael Hardner's topic in The Rest of the World
A level playing field is not in the interests of the empire. In fact is contradicts it. Whats needed to make it work is lots of disadvantaged little people at the bottom, working hard and giving their all for the ones near the top. Kinda like an ant colony -
Roaman Polanski thanks his millions of supporters
Sir Bandelot replied to Argus's topic in The Rest of the World
Polanski is a swine.
