Explosives Found in World Trade Center Dust
tango replied to tango's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
YOU may need such evidence, but some of us can see a picture emerging that definitely calls for a more unbiased investigation than was already done. That's the only point here, that a proper investigation needs to be done. There were not just residues, but unexploded debris as well, clearly identifiable as thermite, which you would know if you read the report. Often dismissed as a conspiracy theorist, Gage says, "First let the technical truths emerge, then if necessary, cope with the conspiracies and other questions." -
Supporters of justice for people regardless of race, creed, etc. Why is that such a difficult concept for some right-wing people? And why do some seem to support only the (al)mighty (dollar)?

They represent the people and the people's attitudes were changing. Why waste so much energy on silly partisan politics? boooorrrring! -
Freedom of religion, choice, etc. No one should be forced, and they always have recourse to Canadian law. Not up to us to decide, nor you. And apparently the precedent already exists.

Alberta Employment Rate in Freefall
tango replied to madmax's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
I never had any sense of the extreme resentment of Alberta cons against the rest of Canada until discussion boards. I'm not sure I wanted to know either. And why is it that unions and workers of all kinds are just supposed to 'suck it up', when the high paid people whine like stuck pigs at a little hit to their wallet? It's just so disgusting. It makes no sense. I'm more and more inclined to believe we truly need to rein in the high rollers. They have no commitment to country, to people, only moneymoneymoney in their own pocket. I wonder if it is finally sinking in out there that Alberta is dependent for its welfare not only on the fortuitous presence of oil, but also on the presence of industries and cars to use that oil ... in the east. -
Apparently only on the south.

Nobody's convicting anybody. Just calling for proper investigation, which has never been done. Why is the mainstream north american media so silent, when this news is streaking around the world? -eta- Here's some testimony from people ... http://www.free-times.com/index.php?cat=19...001604091459631 His two-and-a-half-hour presentation at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship was chock full of video interviews with first responders and cleanup workers who were on the scene describing explosions before the building collapses. Kevin McPadden, a former Air Force medic and a 9/11 first responder, had this to say in a video interview: "You heard explosions, like ba-boom!, a distinct sound, not like floors collapsing. ... You felt a rumble in the ground like you wanted to grab onto something. To me, I knew that that was an explosion." Gage says that 118 other first responders described similar sounds of explosions in 9/11 oral histories published in The New York Times. -

Oh I think the presence of sophisticated explosives in several different samples means quite a lot. A lot of people have spent a lot of time 'debunking' the idea that any explosives were present. Well ... explosives were present, highly sophisticated ones not on the market and not easily available. Read the report. It's linked somewhere above. It certainly demands explanation. This is the conclusion of Professor Niels Harrit in the Danish TV2 interview when asked about “9-11 conspiracy theories”: “I think there is only one conspiracy theory worth mentioning, the one involving 19 hijackers. I think viewers should ask themselves what evidence they have seen to support the official conspiracy theory. If anyone has seen evidence, I would like to hear about it. No-one has been formally charged. No-one is ‘wanted’. Our work should lead to demands for a proper criminal investigation of the 9/11 terrorist attack. Because it never happened. We are still waiting for it. We hope our results will be used as technical evidence when that day comes. “ -

Oh yes, we had our bad moments, and the Canadian Airborne Regiment is no more. When an officer returning from patrol checked on Arone he found that he had no pulse, and base medics confirmed that the boy was dead. A death in custody automatically triggers an investigation, and two days later Matchee and Brown were arrested and charged with the murder and National Defence Headquarters was advised. Master Corporal Matchee later attempted suicide; the attempt failed but caused massive brain damage, making him unfit to stand trial. Brown was found guilty of manslaughter. Brown claimed in his defence that he informed every officer he could find of the happenings in the bunker, and requested that they intervene. Brown stated that when the officers declined to stop the torture, he began documenting the event with photographs. Brown later published a book in which he presented a case wherein he had been made the scapegoat for the incident and the officers who had not intervened were not brought to justice. Charges subsequently laid against members of the Canadian Airborne Regiment suggested that sixteen people had passed through the area where Arone was tortured and that, during the night, his screams could be heard throughout the surrounding area. The commander of 2 Commando and a number of his subordinate supervisors were court-martialed and found guilty under article 124 of the National Defence Act (Negligent Performance of Duties). The Commanding Officer of the Airborne, Lieutenant Colonel Mathieu, was tried twice by courts-martial acquitted of wrong-doing both times. But ... we don't intentionally destabilize countries, prop up dictators, etc. to get their oil, etc. into private hands ... etc. Like the US/CIA did in Somalia. And to my knowledge, the ships dumping toxic waste that destroyed Somalia's fishing industry were European, not Canadian. -
Ya, apparently the borders will be open for goods, but not for people, I guess.

It means quite a bit if there were explosives in there, covered up by the 'official' investigation. What is your critique of the report on the dust samples? -
That makes no sense in the context of my quote. What are you trying to say?

Oh I think we're far beyond that picture now. The origins of the various samples are documented, which you would know if you read the report. (chicken?) Where is the 'official' analysis of the dust? -
So ... it appears you are keeping yourself uninformed. You must like surprises, eh?

Well, I think there's some truth in their joke. Afterall, the US and European countries had a huge hand in destabilizing Somalia and destroying their livelihoods. -

It's hard to get your head around killing your own citizens to justify a war, and then covering it up. However, it is possible it has happened before: http://www.mailstar.net/pearl-harbor.html 1941 "It is not believed," wrote McCollum, "that in the present state of political opinion the United States government is capable of declaring war against Japan without more ado.''31 His solution to the political stalemate: use the eight proposed actions to provoke Japan into committing an overt act of war against the United States, thus triggering military responses from the two other signers of the Tripartite Pact. ... In the "illogical basing of the fleet at Hawaii," Admiral Richardson saw a disaster in the making. He was responsible for 69,000 sailors under his Pacific command, and he grew increasingly alarmed at using them and his 217 ships in what he saw as a provocative scheme. He asked, "Are we here as a stepping-off place for belligerent activity?"48 Exasperated, he complained, "The President and Mr. Hull [secretary of State Cordell Hull] never seem to take it into consideration that Japan is led by military men, who evaluate military moves, largely on a military basis."49 Richardson missed the point. White House strategy was based precisely on the premise that Japan's militant right wing would push for an act of force against the United States. -
Obama Administration Keep US Ban on Maher Arar
tango replied to bush_cheney2004's topic in Canada / United States Relations
Justified or not. Arar is suing the US too, so that will tell the tale. Interesting little tidbit on a related topic: Obama releases torture memos that guided CIA: Some Obama administration officials have labeled one of the 14 approved techniques, waterboarding, as illegal torture. During war crimes trials after World War II, the United States prosecuted some Japanese interrogators for waterboarding and other methods detailed in the memos. Hmm ... but Obama's not going to prosecute the CIA agents operating under Bush's orders. -

They have no evidence because there is no evidence. If they had any evidence, why did they send him to Syria to be tortured? October 11 to 16, 2002 Early the next morning Arar is taken upstairs for intense interrogation. He is beaten on his palms, wrists, lower back and hips with a shredded black electrical cable which is about two inches in diameter. He is threatened with the metal chair, electric shocks, and with the tire, into which prisoners are stuffed, immobilized and beaten. The next day Arar is interrogated and beaten on and off for eighteen hours. Arar begs them to stop. He is asked if he received military training in Afghanistan, and he falsely confesses and says yes. This is the first time Arar is ever questioned about Afghanistan. They ask at which camp, and provide him with a list, and he picks one of the camps listed. That's the problem with torture: People will say anything to try to get it to stop. However, they don't tell the truth under torture. -
