More Hate Mongering From Trudeau
Moonbox replied to WestCanMan's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I don't disagree. It's just that you can get away with a lot of bad/dumb stuff when your opposition isn't presenting serious competition. -
and the best way to do that is to...shut down $350 million of daily trade. Yeah you guys care so much about the economy. How'd that do drumming up support for the cause? ? You guys whine and moan about freeedom and the economy, but the vast majority of Canadians see you for what you are, which is just a bunch of angry, petulant buffoons. We'll all cheer when these idiots are cleared off the Ambassador Bridge and when the economy, which you pretend to care so much about, is able to start running again in Southern Ontario.

You keep telling yourself whatever you need to in order to cope.

and the rest of Canada cheered.

Make it Known, Canadians Will Start Boycotting Vaccines
Moonbox replied to TrudeauSucks's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Examine the statistics, by all means. It's smart to do so. The problem is that you haven't provided any relevant information that examines case severity and ICU admission by vaccination status. How does this improve your argument regarding the disproportionate share of unvaccinated ICU admission? Again, this is irrelevant noise. Comorbidities would be more or less equal across vaccinated or unvaccinated population. Once again, this provides no useful information towards explaining why the unvaccinated are disproportionately clogging the ICU (at something like 10-20x the rate of the vaccinated population.) It's a good thing that you're digging deeper into the numbers, but you have to synthesize that information into something that actually supports your argument, otherwise it's just extra noise and confusion - or gobbledygook. -

No. It also says: "In the ICU, 82.1 per cent of the patients were admitted for COVID-19 while 17.9 per cent tested positive after the fact." So it's less than 20% of the serious cases are getting sick with COVID after entering, which would have little impact over the numbers. What that actually tells us is that though infection rates and spread are high at the hospitals (which is predictable given the concentration of COVID patients), the overwhelming majority of the serious cases are coming from outside and, as was already posted, they're disproportionately coming from the unvaccinated population. Regardless, the extra analysis you're providing is gobbledygook. I'm not sure if it's intentional obfuscating or you're just struggling with the reality, but explanations like the following are silly: The screening is irrelevant. What we're talking about is who ends up seriously ill and taking up ICU beds. Extra screening doesn't make your COVID more severe, nor does extra isolating. -

Show me. Where are you sources? Literally everything I've read has shown the exact opposite. https://toronto.ctvnews.ca/ontario-reports-4-183-patients-in-hospital-with-covid-19-at-least-580-in-the-icu-1.5744353 "In the ICU, 196 patients are fully vaccinated, 195 patients are unvaccinated, and 17 patients are partially vaccinated." If your response is to rail against CTV news or whatever, don't bother. I'm just going to roll my eyes. Don't care. Too bad. Live with it for a few weeks. Those people can deal with the consequences of their choices like everyone else has to. They have cost the rest of us a lot of money in health care costs, taxes and a prolonged COVID pain so sympathy for them is pretty low across the country. Here's a chart from the Record for a nice easy breakdown. The numbers couldn't really be presented more clearly. -
hundreds of millions of dollars per day lost to the border crossing blockade is not well-behaved, not by any stretch of the imagination. The mandates for truckers will not get dropped. They'll be dropped when they're dropped for everyone else. Public support for that is very low and most of us see the protest for what it is - loud, angry and ignorant noises.
-
but people like you make that transition take longer and make it harder. Congratulations. You are part of the problem you're complaining about.

Moonbox replied to TrudeauSucks's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
You've had the reasons explained too many times to count. The reason is that unvaccinated people are taking up a disproportionately high share of hospital space, which is expensive and causes problems across the health care system. If the 10% of unvaccinated people were only 10% of the ICU cases, you'd have an argument, but that's not the case. Instead, the rate that they're taking up expensive hospital space is something between 15-25x the vaccinated population. That's all the reason you need, but the fact that they transmit the virus more easily makes it even more obvious. The fact that you don't like this information or you just deny it outright doesn't really mean anything. -

That's faulty logic and you could make the same argument for every individual in the country. "Why do I have to get the vaccine? It would have statistically no impact on COVID." You don't provide exceptions to the truckers just because they're a small portion of the population, just like you don't provide individual exceptions without good reason. The truckers don't have a good reason and their economic argument is balogna, so they really don't have a case besides freeeeedom. -

It will have a marginal impact on hospitalizations Canada-wide. It will have a noticeable impact on the unvaccinated truckers. The supply chain is being held hostage by the trucker's blocking the border, not by the vaccine mandate. 10% of truckers opting out doesn't cause the supply chain to collapse. The existing logistics network can easily accommodate that. Blocking hundreds of millions of dollars worth of cross-border trade daily is absolutely another story... -

Who cares? How many of those 16000 would there be compared to a similar population of 16000 that was vaccinated? That's the point. As the truckers block the border crossings. My God is that screwy logic. -
Nope. A fact isn't just whatever you're thinking at the moment. You posted no facts. You posted a bunch of angry, raving hyperbole along with a bunch of links. For whatever reason, you seem to think that if you just repeat the same angry nonsense over and over, and if you use angry enough language, that somehow makes your opinions more valid. It does the opposite. It makes you look petulant and inarticulate.

This would be really funny if I didn't know you were actually serious. Actually it's still funny! ?

More Hate Mongering From Trudeau
Moonbox replied to WestCanMan's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Doesn't matter what Justin does. As long his primary opponent can't disavow the hardline politics of the rabid Alberta base, they'll flop. Trudeau doesn't need to be popular to beat someone like Scheer, O'Toole or Pierre Poli. The first two were wimps who sat on the fence with the far right of the party and that was enough to scare off the middle ground Canadian voter. Pierre is jumping on board with them whole-heartedly, and he'll be even less appealing. Harper was the last Conservative leader that understood there's no path to the PM's office that doesn't properly court the middle vote. He was a pragmatist and everyone who's come since has been a coward or an out-of-touch buffoon. -
That's really the nature of all protests. There are idiots that show up at every/any opportunity to flip the gubberment the bird and cause chaos. What's really cringe about it is that a lot of the same people who are claiming unfair optics because of these bad actors are the same who are quick to condemn more left-leaning protests for theirs. The double-standard is pretty clear.

When your opening post is that incoherent and raging, what did you expect? Either you're going to get mocked for another petulant tirade, or the other conspiracy brainlets will applaud you for your passionate address. Either way, there's no intelligent discussion stemming from this sort of nonsense. I'm not sure who you thought you were going to convince with this sort of ramble, but maybe it was more for you to vent and calm yourself down than anything else. ?
-
Unfortunately I agree with you. I'd argue the Trudeau government has done basically nothing of substance since taking power and has been a complete waste of time. Unfortunately the folks who've run against him have all been useless twits who've pandered way too hard towards the party's most rabid base, and their politics are what continue to make the CPC lose elections. Stephen Harper had the balls to shut them down and keep their politics out of his government, but his successors have been cowards. Far-right Alberta style politics won't win federal elections. Period.
-
Sure, but that's sort of unavoidable. If you spent any time with a real-life conspiracy theorist, this a path that's hard to pull yourself out of. My best friend from highschool no longer speaks to his family (they can't handle him anymore) and frankly I can only stand him in small doses now. He sends me Qanon links and all sorts of other bullshit and I've spent way more time than I should trying to understand the nonsense he's following. This image really captures the essence of the problem:
-
Oh please. Spare us the poor-you syndrome. You're hardly a paragon of civility, and I'm definitely not following you around. If you took the time to write thoughtful posts with even remotely coherent citation instead of just spamming every thread with the same nonsense, you'd probably have a better time. Cheers!
