  1. You don't expect returns from an enterprise that wasn't established yet. As a fiscally responsible Conservative you should know that
  2. I hear we're headed for the first deficit after continuous surpluses... I know we're investing in oil while the prices on oil are going down... I know we're enetering a global recession (at best)... Should I be worried? Or should I say like Steve and Jim: "Nah, we're fine, the economy is solid, don't worry about it"?
  3. I sure hope so, bb. Looking south of the border, however, we see a different picture: Bush gets UNDEMOCRATICALLY appointed as president, starts 2 wars and then manages to get re-elected. Ruins the country and his party is still very popular. How is that possible? How do we know something similar doesn't happen here with Harper at helm?
  4. Yeah, right... what a thorough analysis Same argument can be made about ANY party. At least the Greens appear to care about something other than the money - the environment.
  5. I diagree. They have a centrist platform and the potential of growing as people become more environmentally conscious. NDP, on the other hand, is quite unlikely to grow.
  6. WTF are you talking about? Care to explain yourself or do we just have to endure your hateful, mindless slur?
  7. Harper was quite bluntly shown HE'S NOT WELCOME in Quebec and Newfoundland & Labrador. Even with the Liberals being as weak as they were.
  8. Do you want to know what a real CRUSHING DEFEAT is? Look at the results of the last Ontario provincial elections. John TORY (yes, that's his real name) was bragging about possible Con majority in Ontario but ended up giving Liberals a STRONGER MAJORITY and DIDN'T EVEN WIN HIS OWN SEAT. Now that's what I call a crushing defeat.
  9. Of course he hasn't... yet. But IF he eventually gets the majority he craves.... who knows...
  10. There are NO Conservative ridings in Toronto AFAIK. There are quite a few in GTA now.
  11. Neither one of them was or will be a PM in Canada.
  12. I agree with your remarks. Having said that, I still believe that the system that was offered for voting is pretty good. Let's say your a convinced Conservative who doesn't give a rat's ass about any fringe parties and who (obviously) doesn't have to vote strategically. You would have voted Con / Con with both your FPTP ballot and your PR ballot, giving more seats to your beloved Cons. What's wrong with that?
  13. Well it's not really a mosaic, it is true. Most immigrants are either Asian (Chinese, Korean, etc.) or Indian (from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh etc); so we're slowly beginning to look like Indo-China more than anything else.
  14. And the government sure isn't helping... How can you afford daycare for 2 kids @ $1000 per kid per month? It seems the government is purposely driving Canadians to extinction (except the ones on wellfare) and increasing the population ONLY by importing immigrants.
  15. Do you think the Conservatives will try re-counting their way to a majority (a la Bush in 2000)?
  16. How about: The Reason Harper Lost His (Only?) Chance Of Getting A Majority? or The Reason Haprer Could Not Keep Operating As A Minority (Which He Now Has To Anyway)?
  17. They finished second in: Central Nova - 32.2% Bruce--Grey--Owen Sound - 27.2% They were in a strong third place in Guelph and Vancouver Centre. I can't see any one riding that they could take just yet...
  18. Half of them would be Chinese. Hu Jintao will win by a landslide
  19. Australia had no problem doing it...
  20. NZ's voter turnout is still better than ours... As was proposed in Ontario - we can mix the 2 systems to get better representation both geographically and across the political spectrum.
  21. I agree with that... theoretically. Practically - take away the killing power out of a gun - then own and shoot all you want.
  22. Let's form a GTA party. Or a Golden Horseshoe party. We deserve representation in the Parliament. More so than Quebec We make money, they spend them... NOT FAIR!!
  23. So you're saying Bush winning while Gore had more votes is OK?
  24. The good thing that is that if you still have a job you should be able to buy more with the same money - deflation comes with depression.
