Russia among hardest-hit in economic meltdown
PoliticalCitizen replied to jdobbin's topic in The Rest of the World
I think the Russian index lost 50% or more and the stock exchange closed multiple times. -
And the support for Greens more than doubled

LoL Belinda Stronach could be called a traitor for crossing the floor over to the Liberals (after dumping McCain). Steven Harper could be called a traitor for betraying the Progressive-Conservative ideas. Elisabeth May? Who did she ever betray? -

Maybe the NDP guy should have withdrawn in favor of May? The Liberals are not even running in this riding... -

Well your blog is wrong: MacKay has 39 per cent support. The battle for second place is tight, with May at 22 per cent and NDP candidate Louise Lorefice just behind at 19. http://www.metronews.ca/halifax/canada/article/123563 -

We'll talk about that before the next election, by which time the Green support may double again -

Maybe you should read a bit more. Inhaling ANY kind of smoke is bad for you. That includes sitting by the bonfire. -
Gun Control Doesn't work...Never did, Never will!
PoliticalCitizen replied to wulf42's topic in Political Philosophy
That again brings up the question as to why chemical, nuclear and biological weapons are not allowed for general population? Using your logic - they don't kill either. And we trust all people are responsible weapon owners, right? The statement "Guns don't kill people" is pure bullshit. Get rid of the guns and there will be no more shooting in the streets. The gangs have to beat or cut each other to death, wich usually takes a lot longer and is not as effective. It will also give cops the upper hand as cops will have firearms. -

A hunting rifle is designed to KILL ANIMALS. Unless you're in some remote are and NEED it to hunt for food (not skins) and for protection from wolves and bears it shouldn't be legal to own one. There are military knives designed to KILL HUMANS. I don't have any of those in my kitchen. Noone argues banning kitchen knives. Actually, that's a very good question. All of these should be allowed as long as their primary use is not to kill humans or animals. For those who like shooting sports I think there are many "guns" that do virtually no damage, such as PAINTBALL GUNS. -
Believe it or not, the most national (and international) party are the Greens. Their policies do not favor one region over the others. They do not cater to poorer or richer. Just to the ones who loves their land.

I totally agree with you.

I don't think she's going anywhere. Jim Harris was the Green leader before and he also didn't get elected. But at least she wasn't parachuted into a green-leaning riding (if such exist). -

Steven Harper has failed as a leader of Conservative Party and lacks integrity. He called an election he promised NOT TO CALL in hopes of getting a majority. I hope the combined efforts of the other parties hand him a LESSER MINORITY at best. I approve of all possible motions by Greens / NDP to join Liberals as long as the Conservatives get a seat less. -

That's just stupid. Is that a threat? How about you FAIL TO UNDERSTAND or CHOOSE NOT TO SEE that all weapons have the same purpose. Legitimate gun owners should go the same way legitimate slave owners did. There's no place for instruments of murder in tomorrow's society. -

I agree with you here. It is the same as if US would be trying to totally ban marijuana when it's almost legal here So yes, my initial post about banning all guns would not work in a single country. It would have to be a coordinated action by many governments. -
That's the attitude. You're from the West, I take it?
