NATO's summit in Tbilisi just ended. A NATO - Georgia commission will be created to help Georgia rebuild (its military, most likely). The NATO link below has only strong support words for Georgia: http://www.america.gov/st/peacesec-english...tml?CP.rss=true This following link, however, underlines the "Democratic" changes that Georgia needs to undertake before it may be eligible as a NATO member. The good news is that apparently a "Democratically Elected Government" usually has some type of opposition in the parliament (which appears to be magically missing in Georgia). http://www.eurasianet.org/departments/insi...av091608f.shtml The good news here is that MAYBE as part of the "Democratization" Georgia will hold internationally monitored general elections where the US puppet Saakashvili will be replaced with a mentally stable contendant that will consider Georgia's national interests BEFORE catering to USA's foreign policy ambitions.

Where there's no progress there cannot be freedom. Back in the old days most of humanity were slaves. Progress comes first, and for it to come a strong State is required to preserve and distribute the natural resources that fuel the progress. Without a strong State those resources would be robbed by foreign companies and the people of the land would have gotten next to nothing. So my point of veiw is develop the country to a level where freedom can be possible first, then talk about how to become more "democratic" and get more "freedom". So far the American idea of "Freedom" outside USA is robbing foreign nations of their oil. Turkmenistan will sell to Russia because Russia can afford to buy natural gas at EU prices

Mister Willson T. (or should I say MMT's alter ego?) A hate website is not a cool way to promote democratic ideas, wouldn't you agree? Saying Russians want to be liberated from Russian Federation is the same as saying Americans want to be liberated of the United States of America. To any person with even a limited capability of crtitical thought both are nonsense and absurd. I don't care about American polls. I see the results of American votes.

Back to the topic - Russia will get its own UAVs this year - first reconnaissance, then the attack version: http://kb-lutch.ru/tipchakeng.htm

Stephen Harper Is Just Like George Bush
PoliticalCitizen replied to Joesixpack5's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
True prohibition and tougher sentences for addictive drugs is the ONLY road. They are as dangerous and deadly as handguns and biological agents (anthrax). By "True" prohibition I mean the governments today are most likely covertly involved in the production / distribution / sale of highly addictive substances - it is very hard to explain the abundance of relatively exotic drugs. That, in combination with legalizing the non-addictive psychotropic substances that could be classified as "recreational drugs", should keep most people well within the legal territory when they indulge in more sophisticated methods of relaxation. -
Russell by-law spat sparks bilingual study
PoliticalCitizen replied to Leafless's topic in Local Politics in Canada
My opinion is that nation-wide bilingualism is a huge waste of money to a very limited benefit. It would make a lot more sense to have a law that would mandate the use of at least 1 state language (depending on province), in addition to which other languages could be used (Mandarin, Spanish, Italian, Korean, Russian etc.) -
I think moderate global warming is good or at least will do more good than bad. That being said, I think we should still aim to be "emission-free" in as many ways as possible, not just because of CO2. Now to prove my point about the benefit of global warming: 1 - We'll get a new usable continent - the Antarctica. 2 - We'll get rid of permafrost in HUGE areas of both Canada and Russia. 3 - Eventually tundras will get replaced by forests which will take care of a lot more CO2. 4 - The changing climate patterns could benefit some regions (while probably harming others). 5 - There will be more water in the oceans, possibly more oceanic life-forms. Global warming is a change. It is only human to be afraid of the change. The result will most likely be the same whether we try to do something about it or we don't...

World War III

Half a Tril sais it won't collapse in the near future... What does the dollar have? It already ceased to be the currency of choice in the world - the Euro is much more stable. -
World War III

Au contaire, mon ami... Russia has the third largest gold / foreign currency reserve in the world. The gas and oil should last for at least another 20 years. It is actually a safe harbor for investors... But look around you, BC - big banks falling like houses made of cards... Too greedy? In a rush to exploit the poor? Or, to put it mildily, "opportunistic"? Oh, what about the 10 Trillion debt (growing at 2.1 Bil / day)? Are you ejoying the results of your administrations' policies? -
Stephen Harper Is Just Like George Bush
PoliticalCitizen replied to Joesixpack5's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
OK Mr. 6pack, I do agree with the addictiveness with alcohol and tobacco, haven't tried any antidepressants. I also agree with cannabis (even though the overdoze makes you paranoid) and I would add MDMA (E) to the list of safe and even "recommended" recreation drugs. They are refered to as "Psychotropic substances" and do not result if a physical dependency. I would legalize them and sell them at LCBO - like stores. But opiates (all derivatives and synthetic replacements), cocaine (and other coca derivatives), methamphetamine (and similar) should be VERY VERY illegal as they create an addiction stronger than any legal or "semi-legal" substances. You can become a slave after 1 shot. -
World War III

It's not about Russia... not even McCain is crazy enough to go to war with RF. But what about Iran? Syria? North Korea? Whatever next "Axis of Evil" the war-mongering masterminds behind the administration come up with? Oh, how about this: "We have to fight in the skies of the enemy, in the waters of the enemy, on enemy territory..." Who are America's enemies? Countries with oil? Countries neighboring countries with oil? Countries with oil pipelines? Countries where oil pipelines can be built? -

I bet that big toe hurts from being stepped on in Georgia... it's only gonna get more painful from here on if the lesson isn't learned. -
Now that we're talking English and not garbage I can tell you that the average immigrant is smarter, at least bi-lingual, more educated, more ambitious, in a better physical shape and overall more successful than his Canadian-born counterpart. Oh, I forgot to mention happier (because he has something to compare his present life to) and better-looking (less inbreeding in other parts of the world). I hope I haven't offended anybody here but this had to be said.

Let me try to make this simpler. It's not about win / lose. It's about "Stop picking on everybody or you'll end up with a broken nose" kind of thing... -
Are we going the way of dinosaurs?
PoliticalCitizen replied to myata's topic in Political Philosophy
The problem is inherent to any social system that accept unqualified input on complex matters. When you want to get people's support you have to water down an idea until you reach a level that can be absorbed by the lowest common denominator. -
Maybe your estimates are better than the official Russian calculations... maybe not... besides, Russia isn't selling just its own gas and oil - it is also re-selling Azeri and other former USSR nations' natrual products... About illusions - life is an illusion... only death is real I can see that you're quite opinionated - but whose side are you on? USA? Western Europe? Russian renegades?

World War III

You mean by the time this eventually happens the majority of US voters will be brainwashed beyond a trace of critical thought? -
Websense is a leader in filtering the Web for corporate networks and it's blocking LCBO and streaming media as well. Very hard to link to KGB or FSB... I'm not admiring the strength of "Russian Empire" yet, I'm just contemplating its rise from the ashes of former USSR. As to what's going to end and how - we shall all see very soon... My personal opinion is that the first thing that's going to end (or has already ended) is USA's and Israel's indiscriminate agression against soverign nations... Russian oil reserves should last another 20 years at today's capacity, which is plenty of time and money to realize the Putin / Medvedev vision of the new world (or at least new Eurasia). If we judge US and Russia by their actions outside of their territory - the American Democracy has inflicted more pain and suffering on the countries everywhere in the world than Russian Authocracy can ever hope to... It also looks that the US media's brainwashing of Americans has achieved what the Russia's control over press couldn't: most Americans actually BELIEVE their administration is doing the right thing by invading and occupying Middle Eastern countries...

I don't believe any kind of economic policies that Canadian government can adopt will change the current situation in a big way. Canadian economy is made in Canada. Having said that we're still in a slightly better situation than the USA as our lending rules were not a lax. Which is a corporate policy of the banks, I believe, and not an achievement of a political party.

It is not "my" ISP. My ISP doesn't care what websites I access. I happen to work for a VERY large US company at one of its offices in Toronto. And the "Faschist" label goes both ways - USA and Russia - with USA actively harming people outside of its borders. There's also much more "Democracy" in Russia than there is in China - doesn't prevent any Western power from dealing with China... which proves that "Nobody likes the weak". The stronger Russia will become the less talk there will be about how "Un-Democratic" it is... EDIT: Forgot to say one more thing: The "Real Russians", believe it or not, live in Russia and have voted in absolute majority for the Medvedev / Putin government.

Declaration of independence from Russian Federation
PoliticalCitizen replied to MMT's topic in The Rest of the World
HAhahaha! That's a good joke. Taking into account that both Putin and Medvedev are very young for politicians and enjoy an 80+% popular rating (real or fake) I doubt they would be going away anytime soon. They should have enough time to implement their vision of new Russia - we will see if it's as grim as the West is trying to paint. As to the freedom of speech - I agree that it's not there anymore. Even my former favorite joke website anekdot.ru has changed a lot - not only no Jokes about Vovochka (Putin) but not even about Gruzins (Georgians)... wow... Oh, MMT, as I mentioned in the other thread - Vdesiatku is classified as Hate / Racism by Websense (not by Putin). And yeah, I know about Ingushetia.ru, as well as the highest mortality for journalists (with the exception of Israel, probably). -

Uh-oh, MMT, it looks like you're right and wrong at the same time... I tried to go to that website from work and guess what I got: "Blocked by Websense. Reason: The Websense category "Racism and Hate" is filtered." I think this is just a Rusophob website, and Websense agrees with me. My initial reply was a joke made to discourage further refernces to the above site from certain new members of the board. I personally do not believe that there is freedom of speech in today's Russia. I also believe that the Western mass-media companies are under strict control by the US administration. There's no other explanation to the silence and the ensuing one-sided representation of the Georgian conflict. The difference is that to find anti-American websites you don't have to go to the "Racism and Hate" department.
