Will Russia be kicked out of the G8?
PoliticalCitizen replied to August1991's topic in The Rest of the World
Wow... A quote from RICE herself (the Great Prophet of Democracy, Defender of Truth and Justice and Bringer of Freedom)? Then Russia is surely doomed... -
People usually don't hate something or someone unless they are afraid of it, don't understand it, or know it is more powerful than them. Hate is a feeling of the powerless... As a civilized and educated person living in a free country you should have no reason to hate anyone... especially people who are expressing their freedom of thought and speech... unless you are afraid that what they may uncover will rip the fabric of the world as you know it...

Palin Derangement Syndrome
PoliticalCitizen replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Thank you, August! Great read, immensely entertaining I especially liked Obama's and Matt Damon's comments. The funniest (and scariest) thing is that most of the comments are true... -
I was trying to be argumentative and did not really mean it. Everyone deserves a trial.

Not true. It is quite obvious that they would get a couple of seats at most, which is exactly what's needed to keep this one issue alive. They're far from the position where a viable shadow government can be formed... The other side of the coin is parties that try to cover everything - Liberals and Democrats - are very much alike and are both likely to forget or ignore the issues they used in to get votes in the election.

Let's follow your link: NEW GLASGOW – The Green Party has announced that John Shavluk will not be the candidate for the party in Newton—North Delta, following revelations that he made comments in 2006 on an online discussion forum that could be construed as anti-Semitic. I've made a lot of comments that may be construed as a lot of things... Steven Harper and George Bush (he's the best) made a lot of idiotic comments... This means nothing.

I'm not the only one saying this: http://ca.news.finance.yahoo.com/s/1709200...aig-rescue.html "Last week we argued that, with the nationalization of Fannie and Freddie, comrades (George W.) Bush, Paulson and Bernanke had started transforming the USA into the USSRA (United Socialist State Republic of America)," said Nouriel Roubini, a New York University economist. My favourite acronym would be USSA - Union of Socialist States of America

So then you come to the Canadian forum to bust your brothers' balls, eh? Make fun of our inferiority complex?

Thanks! Tons of stuff to read... What's your nick there?
-
BC, I wanted to ask you something - are there any good American political forums? I'd like to register there and stir up some hell too

World War III

Hey, you think we've got problems (US & Canada)? Check this out - Zimbabwe replaces $10 trillion banknote: http://edition.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/africa/0...ency/index.html -
World War III
PoliticalCitizen replied to PoliticalCitizen's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Hahaha Anyway - it looks like Russia actually did get hit, and very hard... Trade was closed for the second day in a row... No bankruptcies yet but total lack of liquidity... Damn the imperialistic sharks! Stirring water in the "safe harbor" -
With their popular support doubling since last election you may see some Greens in the office still

You sound like your own country's reject to me... Did your mom and dad love you? Cause you're pissed... I can tell you which immigrants are truly screwed: Doctors, Dentists and Lawyers. There a North-American mafia-like legislation for these professions that here they have to start from scratch, waste several years and tens of thousands of dollars just to get to do what they already know. But in Information Technology it's very different. I work with some people who are "fresh off the boat" or even brought on visas from other countries (India, China, etc.) Some of them barely speak English yet they have top-tier jobs. Did some poor immigrant kid take your job at McDonalds? Or are you talking about physical labor? Or cleaning offices? I doubt there are many Canadians lining up for these employment opportunities...

They are supposed to be a "Nature Uber Alles" party. At this point or in the near future they have no chance of being the ruling or the opposition party. But they need to get in to represent the people to whom preserving our planet is above politics. Overall, they are a true Federal Party, unlike BQ who are really one-issue: Quebec. But I guess Canadians got used to BQ because Quebec is "special". It is time to open our minds to the green alternative.

OK, let's try to have an intelligent conversation. What has the Russian Federation done to anger you (in your own words, please)?
-
I disagree. A vote for the Greens is a vote for the Greens. Reducing our society's pollution footprint is the first (and almost only) thing on their agenda. To all other parties the environmental issues are just a card in the election game. NDP vote could be called a WASTE as well - most ridings are predominantly Liberal or Conservative.
