  1. Amazing comparing Canada to bottom of the barrel countries I wonder if the US compares itself to zimbabwai or pakistan or does the United States compare itself with likes of Germany, Britain, France, and other countries alike. Canada is suppose to be a developed Country but is nothing more than a glorified horse and buggy country. The only way to compare Canada to other Countries is to forget about National Debt, Forget about deficits, forget about money all together and have a look at Canada in Comparison to the United States, Britain, and many European Countries as to infrastructure and capabilities. Canada and open field with a shed for shelter. All the other Countries, 10 bedroom houses, fancy cars, gold plated cutlery to eat. Canada is lucky if its able to tie its own shoe laces.
  2. Thank You, There we have it. As I have been drumming on this forum we are victims of the Corrupt Conservatives who would prostitute their mothers if it meant more pension money and travel expenditures for them. All I can say is eye of the needle for these politicians. Prostituting their mothers isn't enough for these Sob's but enslaving their children to low wages and sub standard quality of life is icing on their cake. Canada is a failed country and a joke to the world.
  3. So what we have is ignatief wanting EI reform to include the so called self employed who purposely avoided paying their EI but now that the economy is soft the self employed are crying for EI benefits. I assert most self employed are really employees because they draw their pay from one source/company and these so called self employed ought to be investigated for cheating taxes. If you listen to Ignatief he says to pay for reform and all the 800000 collecting EI, premiums will likely have to increase but the fact is the Liberals and Conservatives have stolen 50 Billion from those overpaid EI premiums. If the government wants to increase EI increase the cap from $40k to 60k. That should more than cover the cost of current EI being paid out and any retraining programs to move Canada out of third world horse and buggy country status. When the stats says 800,000 represents 8.4 % unemployment that's a problem and requires investigating. How Can a Country of 34 million have only 9 million people working. This defies logic. How many millions are claiming to be self employed that ought to be assessed and deemed an employee by Governments? When I say Canada's governance is corrupt, the numbers speak for themselves, but then, can we expect anything more from Mulroney's buddies the conservatives?
  4. This is what I am talking about. Those who abuse the business structure to avoid taxes now they are crying to ignatief when they are out of a job. A registered small/sole propreitor is not the same as someone who is self-employed. A Self-employed person could be a landscaper, a painter, a handyman, a snow shoveler, a steam cleaner, etc, etc.... I am sure you are getting the picture!! A small propreitor, is the coffee shop, the hot dog cart, sub shop, bulk spices, etc. These propreitors have business locations whereas the "self-employed" will work out of their home. Where I am saying the self employed is abusing the system is when mr big landscaping company hires self employed buddy landscaper and self employed landscaper's only income is from Mr Big landscaping company. When this happens its up to Revenue Canada to identify this and go after Mr Big Landscaping company for not paying the payroll taxes and not ensureing WSIB is provided. Once upon a time Revenue Canada made it clear to be deemed self employed you had to have five different Revenue streams. That means 5 different Mr Big Landscaping jobs over a course of year. Rules are Rules. I am quite clear in what I am saying so my conclusion is you people are likely to the abusers and offenders that deserve an audit by Revenue Canada into your business practices and tax cheating.
  5. You know buddy leave it to donkeys to take things out of context. Somehow the self employed are on the same footing as a corporation such as microsoft? You want to be a business, register as a business, pay your way as a business. That is not what the self employed are, they are tax evaders often working for one company. Revenue Canada should be investigating these crooked self employed and the crooked companies evading payroll taxes by paying these so called self employed this way. Anyone who is ignorant of business is you. Because this is not a business forum but a political forum, this forum is interested in ensuring Canada gets it's due. Kind of hard when you have people abusing the system and the corrupt conservatives allowing this to go on.
  6. No, what I am saying is many who claim to be self employed are nothing more than tax cheats who are not really self employed. These so called self employed have one source of Revenue from one company. They operate this way to evade paying taxes. With the soft economy alot of these tax cheats must be the ones crying to ignatief on how they can't collect what they purposely avoided to pay into. There are laws are in place to fix these cheats but the Conservatives look the other way.
  7. Yeah but they have office space and aren't running their corporation out of their house. As I said the point of a corporation is to separate personal assets from business assets. If you run your corporation from your house, you will lose it, hence, loooooooooooser.
  8. very weak response. Somehow you put an unemployed, ehem I mean self-employed on the same foot as a corporation such as microsoft or General Electric. All I can say get out of the house and get a job at a real corporation.
  9. At least you are talking about people who are providing something. The so called self employed out there are nothing more than glorified employees who are cheating the tax man. As for businessess who cheat costs I am sure the competition who is not would have something to say about their competitor having an unfair advantage over their legitimate operating businesses. It's up to the governments to ensure all companies are complying with the laws. The point of a corporation is to seperate personal assets from corporate assets. If the corporation is being operated out of a persons house it defeats the purpose of a corporation. If something goes wrong you will lose your house. Not only are people who operate corporations from their house losers, they are also stupid.
  10. Actually yes, the Liberals or the conservatives. Unlike the United States Judges in Canada don't get elected they are often appointed by the political party in power.
  11. No, what it means you need to finish one project and move onto the next. If I advertised myself as a house painter, how long would it take me to paint someones house? To be successfull I would need more than 5 "revenue" sources/customers. When I say common sense if this house painter happen to someone get a contract to paint 100 bedroom mansion this may take awhile. Really? Labour laws stipulate a minimum wage to be paid out for work. At minimum any work being done has to be done at minimum wage and you/your corporation is on the hook for those remissions. I suggest you look over the ontario court of justice act. A corporation has to have a lawyer represent the corporation in all proceeding. As for accounting you have to file accounting statements acceptable to accounting practices. Being a corporation is expensive or could be expensive. Yeah, only the losers.
  12. Why should the onus be on me for what the corrupt conservatives have done with Revenue Canada and their definitions for self employment. This would depend on the context of the work being done and for how long. Common senses judgement would have to used to assess the situation. Corporations are not legally allowed to do anything they have to hire out for things to get done. When the hiring takes place, EI, CPP, WSIB all has to be paid. When you are a corporation you have to retain a lawyer to act for you in all matters and the rules for accounting can be expensive and a burden. You cannot compare a corporation to a "self employed" who works out of his garage and communicates via his cell phone. The two, can't be compared.
  13. All semantics and a play on words. The self employed are not businesses. You want to call yourself a business, get a business license, rent space that is considered commercial or industrial (your house doesn't count) and list your business in the yellow pages. Not there? showing up at someone else's business then getting a cheque from that business, you are not a business but a tax evader and Revenue Canada has to hold you and that company for evading taxes. The world is black and white, you either are a business or you are not. For to long under the conservative watch has Canada slipped down the slope of Corrupt governance.
  14. Really, this is a story of corrupt conservative governance. I challenge anyway to provide the documention that was on Revenue Canada's website between 2001 - 2003 with regards to self employment. Not shocking the criteria for self employment has become lax. It also sounds like you are mixing self employment with being a business which is another dynamic all together. The logic for self employment was there was not enough work for a company to have someone doing that work full time so a self employed person came in and did that work part of the time and the rest of the 40 hours worked at getting more work or worked elsewhere. Self employed don't have employees and they are usually operating under their name. Some popular self employment ventures is snow removal and lawn cutting. However, you are competing with established businesses. Your advantage in self employment is getting the job done at lower cost. Sorry buddy if you spend 40 hours a week at one company you are an employee of that company and that company is liable for EI payments and WSIB contributions on the money paid. What is revealing here is Revenue Canada should be running full steam in Auditing the payroll books of companies and following the money to see which companies are evading taxes. You do not get to compare Canada to Russia or China. If you want to compare Canada, the United States, Britiain, France, Australia, and New Zealand. Doing that would show how corrupt canada is. Oh yeah? Than what's Ignatief's EI reform all about? Once again you are confusing self employment with being a business. If you are a business, particularly in ontario, you have to register as a business and you will be assigned your WSIB#. You will have to get a GST number for revenues greater than $30000 and you will have to be sure the municipalities don't have rules for what you are doing. So buddy it's easy to tell whether you a business or self employed. Legitimate business contributes to the country in registring and remitting the cost of doing business whereas the self employed typically work out of their house and use their own phone. They are not Entreprenuers but going after the scraps established businesses can't be bothered with or your client is to cheap to pay for.
  15. Actually, not only do you have to get by Revenue Canada, in Ontario if you called yourself self employed you also had to fill out a form and send it to WSIB and give a copy to your potential employer/client demonstating you are covered if anything should happen. I wonder how many self employed did this? It's not a shock Canada and the provinces don't follow or enforce their own rules. Canada is an extremely corrupt country and lacks the integrity to maintain "good" governance practices. For these reasons the Self Employed cockroach was allowed to multiply and pollute Canada's economy. These tax evaders have cost the Canadian economy alot of lost tax dollars. Now these tax evaders are crying how they should be entitled to receive EI when they didn't do what they should have been doing and paying their proper taxes when they were suppose to.
  16. Some who pursued self-employment did so to evade taxes. I know what I read in 2002 and Revenue Canada had a criteria/standard you had to meet to be deemed self employed. Really, I think anyone who has worked in a self employed capacity should be investigated with the full resources of Revenue Canada. Not only the individuals but also those companies who they worked for to decide if these and individuals and companies should be brought up on tax evasion. As I said you are lucky the corrupt conservatives are running the show and you people are not in the US otherwise you people would get what should be coming to you.
  17. Maybe your shite is flying today but it wouldn't have flown in 2002 when I was looking at self employment. Revenue Canada made it clear 5 different revenue streams period. If you drew income from one place at one time you were not considered a business but an employee. Therefore you my friend are subject to a tax evasion investigation and should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. You are lucky the corrupt conservatives are in power otherwise you would be getting your just deserts.
  18. Ignatief has to be speaking about the likes of you. Those who made no effort to pay into EI yet whine they should get it (I don't mean you but others in a similar situation). The economics we are in is kind of like having your house burn down, you didn't have insurance but now you want the insurance companies to pay. The so called self employed knew what they were getting into. I myself looked into self employment back around 2002, Revenue Canada stipulated you had to have five different revenue streams to be deemed self employed. If not, you were an employee and your "employer" was liable to pay the applicable deductions. Because of the Conservative Party Corruption obviously revenue Canada no longer holds people to this standard before allowing them to circumvent them from paying their proper taxes. However, HRDC website indicates if an employer does not make the proper deductions they are liable for those deductions. Fact is Revenue Canada should be bursting at the seams with all these investigations into the tax evaders. Because Harper and mulroney are buddies, Corrupt conservative governance is their way. The economics of Canada is revealing of this corruption
  19. Yeah sure, when I went to college all the money I paid in taxes over the summer months I got back at income tax time because my yearly income was that low. Not surprising because I was in the classroom and not working. If you are trying to pay your own way through college or university you either have to rely on student loans or work part time. You have to choose you are a student or you are working. You can't have it both ways. If you are student then I suggest you air out your brain because why should you get EI when EI is suppose to carry you to reemployment or be used to make you more employable at whatever occupation you left. Not only that, tuition and books are tax deductible, so what taxes would you pay? I doubt you know anything about going to college or univesity and filing income tax your complaints does not match reality.
  20. I know when I went to college there was a single mother who was there having her way paid for by EI. Good for her.
  21. Lot's of people over the years have collected EI while going to school yet the program still had a 50 Billion dollar surplus the conservatives stole out of it. It's not rocket science, higher income equals higher taxes and more spending paying more sales tax. EI is good leverage to get you to higher income. If EI provides money to take training from the Colleges and Universities so be it, the money was there before the consvatives stole it. The conservative haven't got what it takes to manage the economy with their horse and buggy mindset.
  22. Evading paying EI deductions is a prosecutable offence where the employer is liable to any CPP and EI not properely deducted. I doubt Revenue Canada could care less how you accumulate your income over a given week. The fact is money has to be paid to you or else I doubt you would stick around. You have to file a complaint with Revenue Canada and HRDC telling them you worked and your income was not properley deducted and let them go after this employer for cheating you and the government out EI and CPP contributions. If you purposely made arrangements to deceive revenue canada by pretending you were a business when in fact you were an employee for this employer you are just getting what you deserve.
  23. He's lucky he's not in the US. They would have thrown his ass in jail long ago.
  24. obviously the conservatives have a hard time with that concept. In these times Government spending has to be cut to match reality and that money used on the economy not some fat bureacrat who believes their entitled to drive SUV's, live in ten bedroom homes, and has 3 months vacation a year. The only good conservative is an unelected conservative.
