  1. I don't see why 31 million Canadians should subsize the lives of 3 Million who live in one province. A fraction of which may work for the oil companies. Alberta's prosperity has been at Ontario and Quebec's expense. In the 90's our dollar was 60 cents thanks to mulroney. With the Free Trade agreement it created an advantage to manufacture in Ontario. Rising Oil prices has pushed up the value of the dollar and George Bush wrecked the US economy pushing the US dollar down. This cocktail has devasted Ontario's manufacturing. Most companies in Ontario are operated by Foreign entities. Unless there is something in it for these companies why would they they be pressed to invest in people or provide a decent income for Ontarian's. All they care about is extracting money from Canada. Since there is no more money to be extracted they have left Ontario throwing hundreds of thousands of people into lower paying employment. There is nothing stopping Canada from slapping a Tariff on Oil going to countries outside of NAFTA. Nafta appears ok with the US Law (OCS Lands Act) requiring all oil produced in the US remains in the US for US use. Somehow if Canada creates the same law we are violating NAFTA. Nonsense!!
  2. Oh wait you are sucking on the government tit, You are in New Brunswick. My Bad
  3. Unless you work for the Oil Company and live in Alberta, how are you benefiting from the Oil prices in Canada? The Oil Companies get the money not you! What you are doing is subsidizing shareholder profits at Canadian expense. What you are doing is lowering the cost of Oil for the rest of the world at Canadians expense. What do think would happen to world oil prices if Canada consumed more of its oil? Oil prices for the rest of the world would simply go up to compensate for the reduced supply. Any oil exported from Canada would then cost more and the oil companies would still get its money regardless!! But I doubt you would comprehend that fact. If you are talking about the taxes being paid on gas at the pump at the current gas prices we could make up those taxes by slapping on an export tariff on oil. I see how you roll, you are not for Canadians. You are one of those special interest group elitists sucking on the government tit for his income. Get a real job, parasite.
  4. So I guess you were fine with the US slapping a 30% anti dumping tariff on Softwood Lumber because the US didn't agree with how Canada calculated its stumpage fees? Wait is it possible the US wants us to do what they do? Damn right! Do as they do. Pass a copycat law requiring all oil produced in Canada, remains in Canada, for Canadian Use. Any unused Oil is then put it on the world market.
  5. No, because Ontario will still send more taxes (GST, Income, Gas, ET, CPP, etc) than it would receive back in transfer payments. The Federal Government will only be giving back ontario its own money. New Brunswick on the other hand sends no surplus GST,Income, Gas, ET, CPP, etc but receives a transfer payment = !WELFARE!
  6. What people don't understand is the amount of GST, Gas Taxes, Income Taxes paid by 12 million people in Ontario and 8 Million people in Quebec versus Alberta's paltry population of what? 1.5 maybe 2 million. On the one hand the Federal Government Takes and on the other the government gives back in the form of Transfer payments (if you qualify). The way I see it, any GST, Income Taxes, and Gas taxes should remain in the province collected. People don't listen to Duceppe to closely. All the Federal Government has been doing over the years is giving Quebec back its own money. It just so happens Ontario is about to be in same situation as Quebec. Sending more Tax money to Ottawa and receiving it back in the form of a Transfer payment. As for New Brunswick, they send no surplus tax dollars to Ottawa but they receive transfer payments. Translation = Welfare!!
  7. Are you for real?? I see you are in New Brunswick, a welfare province. Tell you what, no more transfer payments. Don't like it, eat less!
  8. So how do Characterize the Bush welfare checks. A family of four got $1800, $600 for adults, $300 for children. Where's my rebate/welfare check/cheque?????? I am waiting for my $600 bucks Canada!!
  9. Trudeau enacted some law in the 70's to send in the army against Quebec. A law that could be used against any other province just as easily. I doubt very much the politicians would willingly remove a power allowing them to crush armed dissent. Last time I checked Ontario and Quebec holds a huge influence on the party who forms the government. If gas prices keep going the way they are it is only a matter of time before the people of Ontario and Quebec wake up and know it is in their interest to elect politicians who support the passing of a similar law to the US requiring oil production be used and transported to Canada.
  10. Well its quite simple pass the same law. If the law is good for the US. Its good for Canada. Logic states Supply in Canada will immensly outstrip demand for oil produced in Canada. The dynamics of this will be lower prices for Canadians. If there is any oil leftover after Canadians get their fill, then ship it out. Canada has a law, the war measures act. The act allows the Government to send in the army to preserve the peace. Originally targeted towards Quebec Separatists but easily adaptable to an Alberta rebellion.
  11. Chris Oynes, Minerals Management Service (US Government) "The Ocs Lands Act requires that companies that produce off the outer continental shelf have to have that oil production be used and transported to the United States rather than shipped somewhere else" It's not just lou dobbs, you are getting the info right from the horses mouth (US government). Imagine if Canada passed the same law, what it would do for oil prices within Canada!!!. Its quite obvious Canada has to take the next step and refine its oil and export the gasoline to the US rather than the other way around.
  12. At least I am looking out for Canada and Canadians, not selling them out for my consertative/liberal buddies. oink oink (dictionary.com) Whore [Dictionary.com Unabridged (v 1.1) ] 2. to act as a whore. Whore [American Heritage Dictionary] 3. A person considered as having compromised principles for personal gain. whore [WordNet] 3. compromise oneself for money or other gains; "She whored herself to Hollywood It's quite simple you are for Canada/Canadians or you are a treasonous/whore. CANADIANS FIRST!!!
  13. I see how those on this Forum roll. Now you are calling Lou Dobbs a liar or question my comprehension. Ok Direct Quotes CNN/LOU DOBBS/CARRIE LEE "The US consumes 21 MILLION Barrels of oil a day, that's 4 times as much as we (US) produce. The minerals management service, a unit of the interior department (US Government) estimates our (US) offshore areas contain a total 85 BILLION Barrels of oil. That is more than 10 years worth of supply at todays levels. BY LAW ANY OIL EXTRACTED IN THE US STAYS IN THE US." Chris Oynes, Minerals Management Service (US Government) "The Ocs Lands Act requires that companies that produce off the outer continental shelf have to have that oil production be used and transported to the United States rather than shipped somewhere else" CNN/Loub Dobbs/ Carrie Lee "But, whoever leases the land for exploration can be US or foreign owned" John Kingston, Platts Global Energy "More competition is better, it brings in more money for the federal government" CNN/Lou Dobbs/Carrie Lee "So, the government is making as much as it can from these leases, but americans are still paying record amounts for gas." There you have it. Pretty Clear Cut. If the US can have a law "BY LAW ANY OIL EXTRACTED IN THE US STAYS IN THE US" Its time Canada passes the same law.
  14. I find it hard to believe NAFTA is ok with the US Law but if Canada enacts the same law NAFTA is not ok with it. Nonsense. As soon as Barack wins the white house, he is going to scrap NAFTA anyway.
  15. What roads? Oh we had a road recently built in Ontario, the 407 which charges twenty cents km to use. Coincidently, the same politicians that shafted Ontario on that one are now apart of the Federal Conservatives. Yeah, Canada is real good hands. Don't pretend the politicians are using the tax money to benefet Canadians in general. They are not. They funnel the money to all their buddies and special interest groups. China and India subsidize gas prices for its citizens. This drives up world gas prices. Venezula and other oil producing countries look after their own requirements first. The Best Canada can do is exploit, cheat and repress Canadians with this debauched democracy. I see how you roll. You are definately a card carrying liberal or conservative. How's that tax raping salary treating you? Oh and that nice pension after six years in office?
  16. If such a law has no benefit why does the US have it in place. Sorry, I don't see why Canadians should be subsidizing world gas prices/consumption. Such a law would require all oil be sold to Canadians First. Your right, we can't trust the Oil Companies. So all oil produced will have to go to an independent storage entity. This entity will be in charge of ensuring Canadian refiners get access to the oil first at the demand to be accessed by polling drivers and gas retailers. CANADIANS FIRST!!!
  17. Yeah, cry us a river of oil. This thread is about enacting the same law as the US. A law requiring all oil produced in the US be made available for US use. In our case A law requiring all oil produced in Canada be made available for Canadian use. After the law is put into place, let the market forces take care of the rest. Once upon a time there used to be a concept known as dumping which was illegal. Dumping is when you sell into a foreign market at a lower price than what you sell it at home. Hmmm, we pay 5.00 dollars a gallon, the Americans pay about $4.00. That looks like dumping to me. This copycat US law would turn that table right around.
  18. Ahh, if you work for the oil industry, the government, or any public service your wages are blood money. You are a parasite to the rest of the economy. Your money is not earned but stolen and cheated out of Canada. I am not sure who in their right mind would defend high pump prices if there was a way push them down. Those who speak against this thread are likely American, work for the government in some capacity, the oil industry, or is a politician.
  19. Hmmm, American woman? A US spy on a Canadian Forum?? If domestic drilling of oil does nothing for oil prices then why are the US politician's interested in drilling in Alaska and encouraging more offshore oil drilling? Why does the US feel the need to have the law requiring all oil produced in the US be made available for US use. Repeal the law and have all oil produced in the US be put on the world market. I doubt the US politicians will do that. If the US can have this law then so can Canada. If all the oil produced by Canada had to be made available for Canada to use before export, this would collapse the price of oil within Canada. The Canadian Market would be saturated with an over supply of oil. The supply to Canada would outstrip Canadian demand by so much it would force the price of oil down!!!! That is the reality of supply and demand. Once Canadians have gotten their fill of oil, then the world can get the oil at whatever price.
  20. Newsflash!!! China is subsidizing gasoline, India is subsidizing gasoline, and the list goes on. If the US can have a law requiring all oil produced in the US be available to the US for US use, then so can we. If China and India and countless other countries can subsidize the cost of gas then so can we. The political powers of Canada think they are clever by "embracing multiculturism." Since 1980, Canada's population has grown threw immigration from 20 million to about 33 million. To have anyone in Canada agree on anything from religion, values/principles, politics, and ideas in general is certainly an uphill battle. Canada operates in a way of total disregard for the "individual". Napoleon conquered Europe through divide and conquor. It appears Canada's politicians have conquered Canadians through divide and counquer as well. I suspect the detractors of this thread are card carrying liberals or conservatives waiting for your time to feed at the trough, oink, oink. Who is Canada looking out for Canadians or the world?
  21. The fact is we export oil, period. If refining is all that stands in the way to 40 cents a gallon gasoline bring it on. Hmmmm, refining our own oil??? Would that not create more good high paying jobs for Canadians. Why should everyday hardworking Canadians subsidize world demand for oil. We get our oil first, if there is any left over, then the world will get what it gets at whatever price. Surely, you would not feed your neighborhood before feeding your own family would you??
  22. Obviously you are an american spy, a forein national on a Canadian Forum, or you work for the oil company. Tell you what let's pass the law and worry about imaginary trade laws later. If the US can have a law requiring all oil be available for the US to use then so can we.
  23. Hi All, After Watching Lou Dobbs Tonight it appears the US has a law (OCS lands Act) requiring all oil extracted in the US is to be sold and made available to the US. Hmmmm, considering Canada is an exporter of oil, yet we are paying more for our gas at the pump than the US who happens to imports 80% of their oil is absolutely ridiculous. If all that oil was made available to Canada first. What would that do for the cost of oil for Canada and Canadians? What's good for the US has to be good for Canada. I propose we pass a similar law requiring all oil produced in Canada to be made available to Canada FIRST!!! After we get our oil, only then do we export!!!! It's time we stop subsidizing world demand at our/Canadian's expense. By the way Venezula is also an exporter of oil but yet the country is kind enough to provide oil to its citizens at 40 cents a gallon. Yeah, 40 cents a gallon or 5.00 a gallon? Spread the word about this US law and tell your politicians you want a similar law.
