I have not read any of O'Reilly's books.
And true, he has a co-writer.
====
He strikes me as the American equivalent of English-Canada's Pierre Berton.
Years ago, in Quebec, we had Robert Rumilly.
If anyone delivers a service in Canada, they/we should the pay same tax.
We should tax/treat foreigners the same as we do ourselves.
====
I am not a nationalist.
Canada works because we Canadians get along.
Iran uses the term "Supreme" Leader - as translated to English.
Imagine some smart guys in the 18th century looking for a term for "above all":
"Higher, President, Sovereign, Ultimate, Senior, Supreme, Superior... "
Survival? Get along? What's the difference?
To be honest, I'm still struggling with the difference between competition and ambition.
=====
Some people are ambitious, others competitive.
Some people simply want to get along.
Finland? I suspect that you follow civil code.
UK? I suspect it's the common law.
In such matters, Canada has both common law and civil code - depending on province.
Institutions, traditions, written rules matter.
-The Chinese have Confucius.
-Americans have a clearly written Constitution.
=====
We Canadians have people who get along.
