Imagine those Americans and their ballot.
Both movies involve a rich white guy who chooses to die in a foreign tourist place. In one movie (Bogarde) the guy is gay; in the other (Roth) the guy is not.
Visconti is a better director. The images are better. The music better. All things considered, the 1970s film world portrays better this idea of Thomas Mann of the pre-1914 world better than anything any film maker of the 2020s. It is a sad statement: current artists can't even describe themselves.
To his credit, Tim Roth made me watch the movie to the end.
Whatever.
To you Americans, Reagan won. For the Brits, Thatcher won.

we Canadians (Catholic/Protestant/French/English) get along, have avoided civil war - largelybecause we have counterweights.
Yet, we Canadians (mostly men) have gone abroad and died for what we call Canada, this idea.
