  1. In my time zone, it's before 5pm.
  2. Disagree. Lincoln abused federal power. Our PM Trudeau with his Charter of Rights brought Canada closer to the US Constition.
  3. Lincoln did that. As FDR and Bush Jnr.
  4. I think that Lincoln was a terrible president. Lincoln - like Biden & Putin - are terrible leaders. Soldiers die. ==== Oprah Winfrey paid for Obama. And she apparently said, "Don't screw this up." Under Obama, we got along.
  5. I walked away from the Verdun by-election. Line up.
  6. Canada is a federal State. And we now have a Charter of Rights that further restricts the State.
  7. I looked at the numbers. In Verdun, I was surprised at how well the Conservatives did.
  8. Centre-left? The federal Liberals are not centre-left and will never disappear. Pierre Trudeau once described them as "the radical centre". Brian Mulroney got the point.
  9. Your vote is now like our Canadian census forum In Canada, in Quebec, differently : we check put one name.
  10. By-elections are a way to express an opinion. Agreed. In 2025, Trudeau Jnr can still win - even a majority.
  11. Strongly disagree. Are you a real person?
  12. Semiotics. RB, the best signals are numbers. Go figure.
  13. RB, miss you,
  14. Justin Trudeau, with our simple ballot, is well placed to win a future federal election.
  15. I reckon that Dunkerque was a battle in a larger war. Because of Vietnam, you Americans won the larger war.
  16. I am real. Perspektiv, you are fake.
  17. I reckon that the NPD will win the Manitoba riding. The Verdun riding? It is a toss-up: 30/30/30/10. Liberal/NDP/BQ/Conservative. Rather than who wins, look at the numbers. I predict BQ. ==== Imagine those Americans and their ballot.
  18. Both movies involve a rich white guy who chooses to die in a foreign tourist place. In one movie (Bogarde) the guy is gay; in the other (Roth) the guy is not. Visconti is a better director. The images are better. The music better. All things considered, the 1970s film world portrays better this idea of Thomas Mann of the pre-1914 world better than anything any film maker of the 2020s. It is a sad statement: current artists can't even describe themselves. To his credit, Tim Roth made me watch the movie to the end.
  19. Whatever. To you Americans, Reagan won. For the Brits, Thatcher won. For me, the free market won. ===== I first travelled to China in 1983. Deng -not Mao- changed the world.
  20. Let me explain my point: we Canadians (Catholic/Protestant/French/English) get along, have avoided civil war - largelybecause we have counterweights. Yet, we Canadians (mostly men) have gone abroad and died for what we call Canada, this idea.
  21. This is a Canadian forum. ==== We Canadians get along. Since the 18th century, the Swedes avoid war.
  22. Well said. ==== WestCanMan, you don't understand what CdnFox is arguing.
  23. Lester Pearson, a soldier in the Great War, understood all these issues.
  24. What aggressive tyranny? ===== We Canadians get along.
  25. Trump makes the US federal government explicit.
