Inner-circle exodus spells trouble for Tories
Alta4ever replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Mulrooney Cleaned up after himself it was his NAFTA that got our economy growing, as much as I dislike Mulrooney, he did impleiment economic policy that would eventually reverse the mess trudeau started. Luckly we had the reform party become the offical opposition in 96 and hold the liberals feet to the frier so that we started to pay down the debt. -
Obama, is he sinsiter?

Looks like we are getting more of the same. -
I actually agree with you ont the publishing of young offenders names myata. I'm not convinced on the loss of family property though. I think hard manual labour for community ervice for the less violent crime ie theft. Send them out to a pig barn and let them shovel sh-- pig pooo for a few weeks by hand.

Do you need something more recent to see how rampant government spending saves nothing, have a look at Zimbabee, or as it was call rhodesia. Printing money to pay bills because of the excess government spending and nationalisation of industry, or as you call it stimulus. -

Why do you think they scaled back in 37? You can't forever leverage against future taxbase. Britian over extending itself shows the same thing. If you don't beleive me look at the state of things during the rein of the USSR, but then again you probably like the idea of bread lines and political party patronage, you are a liberal. -

You don't seem to get that a government can't spend itself into prosperity eventually you run out of borrowing room. -

What pays for that equipment? what has been removed from the budgets to make room for that equipment and what happens when it gets overloaded, or their isn't the staff to run them more then 6 hours a day?

How do you purpose to bring waiting lists down? They only thing that our current system will allow for is more cash pumped into a failing system. Their are fixes without the need to go to American style health care. There are fixes that allows us to change our system, while still allowing universal access, but people like friends of medicare are scared of any changes, yet we are doomed to collapse under the present system. In Alberta if the current growth trend continues the entire budget of the province will be consumed by the health care costs in a few short years.

When people sit on waiting lists, it is flawed.

Neither will it help the consumer when they have to buy products made by over priced labour. -
YOu can't fix something that is fundamentally flawed. In our system a patient is drain on hospital resources. Each hospital is given certain amount of funding each year, and each patient eats into that, so they are then less able to buy newer and more up to date equipment and higher more/better staff.

yes I have written for the need of our system to change, I have contacted mlas written letters to the editor, I have sold insurance policies to people that will give choice to seek medical treatment outside of Canada. I have fought this one size fits all system for the last 8 years.
-
After I went in tot he insurance industry I saw the product that should have been purchased as it would have at least given us the funds for access to out of country specalists. I can tell you that I now own a large critical illness insurance poliy because of it. I have very little faith in our current system. Just to se a doctor in twon you have to schedual your appointment at the clinic 1-2 weeks in advance, when I had to see a nose and throat specalist it took 3 months. Our system is broken, and it one where we bury the mistakes.

Your damn right people know who's fault it is, government officals like Barney frank who did not allow regulations to come into effect that would have plugged up some of the holes in the American banking system. -
At that time in a major city it was a few years ago.

Ignatieff says stimulus, "Not working..."
Alta4ever replied to Moonbox's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
That is debatable. As for non partisan, i have had my moments, hell I have even admitted when I was wrong on on eor two occasions. But what iggy said can be viewed as party first Canada second, except in extreme cases like a major recession. -

Alta4ever replied to Moonbox's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Sacasm just doesn't work over the internet. The point I was tring to make with the quote was that He thinks that Canadians only trump the party from time to time. So in other words the party is almost always more important then the average canadian. He is showing that he is just like any other liberal getting back into power is the number 1 priority. -

I am failing to see how I am proving your point, it is the medling in the economy that creates the problem, even after FDR took over things seemd to be getting better until he had to scale back his stimulus program which had the only effect was artificially creating work as soon as the government tried to scale back in 38 so the private enterprise would take over ( as they realized that th level of government spending was not sustainable) the whole thing started to crash. It was the war that brought them out. Since then they have let every recession run its course which has had the effect of re-setting the markets renewing the economy and pushing us further. -
No it was not the doc, it was the time required to see the specalist.

If you check that thread you will find somebacking, it was not appropriate. But then again he is the kind of guy who hides behind rules and attitude.

The great and noble leader “I felt that it was not appropriate at a time of great economic uncertainty to add political uncertainty on top of it,” he said. “As a politician I want my party to win, but you do have to think of the country from time to time.” - Ignatieff http://www.orilliapacket.com/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=1425800 -
