In the alternative, we could just increase the immigration rate. Having more people here to spread the burden can head off a potential disaster.

Nope. Tried it didn't work. It is still 4 hours off. It is a Conservative conspiracy I tell ya!. They changed the time so that we would think we lost 4 hours of our life and then we would have to work harder to make it up. Devious Conservatives are out to get us, ya know....

Toronto Municipal Elections 2010

No...he is more like a Mike Harris clone with an appearance and the controversial intelligence of Gary McHale. -
I'd like some moderator action taken please.

Veterans ombudsman not going quietly;
charter.rights replied to msdogfood's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
True...but then the Reformers also believe that the army is a socialist organization, and that veterans were on the dole. Of course we knew before that Harper was trying to usurp the role of Commander in Chief, and his temper tantrums at getting opposition tends to make him lash out in unusual ways. Maybe we should lobby government for a "time-out" room at Centre Block. I'm sure it will be filled constantly; a worthwhile investment don't you think? -
Know-Nothing Conservatism
charter.rights replied to nicky10013's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
ha ha ha ha ha. Harper is Reformer. He sits on the right of centre right in the political spectrum and closer to fascism then most people think. -
The Federal Court found that Harper did nothing. See that wasn't hard. Harper violated Khadr's rights. Thanks for agreeing with me that it is not hyperbole. Khadr is a Canadian citizen. He makes a better one than your do.
-
Dumb is your middle name. The TORTURE happened during Harper's government. Harper was well aware of the TORTURE and let it go on anyway. The Supreme Court of Canada said that Harper violated Khadr's rights. That is a fact. All your other rhetoric is irrelevent. Get it?
-
Your argument is still....irrelevent.... No one knew at the time when Khadr was "arrested" that he was being sent away to be tortured. No one knew at Guantanamo that he would be tortured and held against his rights. BUT! We found out all that after Harper became Prime Minister. He was asked by Khadr and his lawyers and family to do something. He did nothing. He knew he was being tortured and still he did nothing. The the case was taken to the federal court accusing Harper and his government of abandoning Khadr and not protecting him according to the Charter. The Federal Court ruled Harper couldn't do that and order him to do something to resolve his detention. Khadr was still being tortured and held without charge. Harper appealed to the Supreme Court of Canada. The SCoC ruled that the Federal Court was correct and told to do something but told him he didn't have to bring him home. Khadr was still being tortured and held unjustly. Harper violated Khadr's rights, and no doubt once this is all over there will be a big law suit coming our way. That is only one example where Harper has violated a Canadian citizen's right. It is NOT hyperbole. It is fact. 100% true.
-
It is irrelevent. The Supreme Court rule they violated his rights by not intervening. Harper is guilty of ignoring Khadr's Charter Rights. That is a fact.
-
Omar Khadr. The Supreme Court has stated that the Conservatives violated his rights. It isn't hyperbole. It is fact.

Harper is like the gate keeper at a harness race. The truck moves around the track with the horse itching to run and the gatekeeper waits and waits before he lets them out. Harper isn't centrist. He is a Reformer, sitting on the extreme right of moderate conservatives. We all know that he has stifled his ministers because they would show exactly how far right the Conservatives really are. We all know by his actions - proroguing parliament, changing law without parliamentary consent, ignoring human rights and parliamentary protocol etc that he is not what he appears. He only attempts to make himself appear moderate in order to try steal his majority from the centre. He thought he had it made. But Canadians are not fooled. He has little more support than the Liberals and they don't have any leadership that would be viable in an election. The NDP on the other hand remind me of the chihuahua that barks at the feet of the two clydesdales doing all the work. While Jack Layton has made some contribution to the party, the days of an Ed Broadbent type leading the party to sensibility are gone. Canadian politics in general is a dog's breakfast, and every election it is just a regurgitation of the same old puke. The Conservatives are trying to reinvent the Family Compact and are not better than the Victorians of old who will try tot usurp the power of parliament and put it into their pockets.
-
Take a look at "the Family Compact" movement that Canada started with about 1836 and operated until the 1880s. I see a number of similarities.....

That has it! Thanks

Unheralded "Eco-Tax" hits Ontario shoppers
charter.rights replied to Argus's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Bill....Bill...Bill.... There you go again. Making things up and then trying to make an argument about your ghostly images. "You call anyone who disagrees with any native position at all a racist!" Never done that. "You've flat out called people stupid and ignorant!" Never done that either, although I will admit to call statements "ignorant" but that is not the same thing. Bill. You might want to see a doctor soon. I think there are ghosts and bats in your attic....but only he knows for sure. However, you are still not making any argument against the facts.... -
Unheralded "Eco-Tax" hits Ontario shoppers
charter.rights replied to Argus's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
I don't know whether to take that you have a comprehension problem, or that you are just not very smart.....but you keep making things up and then arguing against your own fantasy. No one here has said that it is an "either/or" situation where it concerns Ipperwash and the killing of Dudley George. Rather it has been pointed out on many occasions (and I have been pointing out the same) that there are lots of people to blame and that Harris and Kenneth Deane both share some culpability. It is also evident that you do not understand the judicial system or how public inquiries work. The Court and the Commission both hear evidence and make a determination on what can be considered as "fact". It doesn't matter if it occurs after the event or not, the information contained in their final deliberations and summary is taken as fact and the innocence or guilt of parties is determined on that basis. Where facts can be disputed, the accused has the right to appeal the findings of the lower court. In the case of determining whether or not the protesters at Ipperwash had weapons, the Court and the Commission reviewed evidence provided by OPP intelligence, the testimony of many officers - some of whom were snipers inside the boundaries of the park - and the testimony of the protesters. The information was consistent from all parties and so the Court and the Commission both accepted as "fact" that there were no weapons present in the park, beyond any reasonable doubt. So in the killing of Dudley Goerge, Kenneth Deane may have been made a scape goat in court for all the OPP failures but the Inquiry was succinct in pointing out the problems behind the scenes, who was to blame and why these failures led to the death of an unarmed protester. Harris comes up a number of times, as does OPP command and the blatant racism that existed in the OPP organization at the time. It identified that there was deliberate misinformation being propagated at the time, and chastised them for their poor communication. It also identified that Stoney Pointers had a legitimate claim to the land that the federal government and the Province of Ontario had ignored. It also suggested that the events leading to the shooting death were preventable. The finding of fact through Kenneth Deane's trial and through the commission gives a clearer picture today of what really happened and you cannot change that by promoting unsubstantiated propaganda, or by ignoring or dismissing the facts. You sound like a Mike Harris apologist. Are you by chance on Tim Hudak's campaign team? -
Native Passports not recognized...

The Crown recognizes Six Nations territory and is trying to find a way to give it back. You have no clue, really. -
Native Passports not recognized...
charter.rights replied to Wild Bill's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
But they don't now. Six Nations passport using the same media and control as Canadian passports. The only rub is that Canada doesn't recognize it because if they did, it would mean that Canada does not own the land it claims. Ask China what they think of Taiwan.... -

Woman Denied Gov't Job Because of Race
charter.rights replied to scribblet's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I was a volunteer firefighter and before qualifying had to take a physical and stress test at York University. I can tell you that the women that took the test along with me (as well as a colleague who changed careers and ended up with the Vaughn Fire Department)are all capable of meeting the challenges - including dragging a 200lb dummy around a 50 foot obstacle course. Women are hired because they are capable and I would have no trouble going into a burning building with any of them at my side. -
So it seems Ontario ER waits are improving....

The last time - around this time last year - was for gall stones. I went in about 10:00PM, and was in a bed by about 10:20PM. Not only that I saw a surgeon at about 2:00AM and had surgery scheduled for 10 the next morning. Other times in the last 10 years or so, I have been there with my kids and with my wife for their issues. Never had a really bad experience save and except at one hospital one time with a couple of jerks behind the desk at the nursing station. The hospital heard directly from me about that. BTW. Broken bones are not a serious issue that would bump you up in line. They always take the more serious people ahead of broken bones etc. In fact in many cases they can't even do anything about broken bones until the next day or two. The swelling has to go down before they put the cast on.
