FK! You know a country is really corrupt when the army tries to justify non-combat murder as reasonable. I do believe this is the middle of the collapse of this civilization - when morality and values get replaced by excuses and acceptance of criminal / anti-social behaviors. All the armies in the world are not going to save this civilization. Are we prepared to start anew?

Most people would call that "listening to the people". Of course those who don't have any issues that can stain his clothing would just saying he is flipping. I get it. Conservatives don't like democratic principles.

Canadian Seat on U.N. Security Council
charter.rights replied to scribblet's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
It doesn't matter whether Canadians know about Ignatieff's comments. All that does matter is that the majority of the UN delegations didn't know before they voted and that leads either to the Conservative's incompetence in trying for a seat on the UNSC, or a deliberate souring of relations with not only the UN but with Arab states. That is enough to suggest that Canada is incapable of representing the world in determination of fairness. But if you want to get into it, the Conservative government's record on human rights, and undemocratic actions added enough fuel to suggest that Harper is out of touch with the rest of the world. And lastly adding to the fact that he pissed off the UAE he is not a world renowned diplomat worthy of such a seat. In your simplistic way you diminish the Conservatives ability to negotiate for a fair and reasonable solution to the UAE's request for greater air access in Canada. Of course the banishment from UAE airspace was a 'last straw' attempt at trying to get a reasonable compromise. But it does show that the Conservatives ignored the UAE and now Canadians are suffering the consequences for that. -
The provincial Progressive Conservatives are closer in ideology to the federal Liberals than they are to the Conservative Party of Canada. Cam Wooley would make a fine Liberal candidate.

Why Canada's election is boring
charter.rights replied to JerrySeinfeld's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Nah. It is a right - an option for the individual to exercise - or not. You cannot force someone to do something against their will. Besides. Not voting is an exercise of one's democratic rights and can sometimes send a more clearer message than voting can. -
Developer charged in razing of 118 moraine trees
charter.rights replied to Shwa's topic in Local Politics in Canada
Right. It is okay to break the law if it is going to save you some money. That's what's wrong in Canada. It is real easy to justify corruption and illegal actions when it doesn't cost the corporation that much. Richmond Hill has been identified as the Oak Ridges Moraine and Ontario's Greenbelt area which is a legal recognition that the area recharges most of southern Ontario's water supply. Unless action is taken to prevent the destruction of this valuable habitat and to prosecute the offenders to the full extent of the law (including jail time for corporate Directors and Officers) we are doomed. We might just as well go back to Europe where we contaminated our drinking water so badly from pissing and crapping in it, that beer was the only thing drinkable. I guess 'better drunk than wise' is a typical Albertan line of thinking. -
Canadian Seat on U.N. Security Council
charter.rights replied to scribblet's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
So do we agree that the Conservatives screwed up the appointment to the UNSC because of poor foreign and domestic policy? The CBC did off-camera interviews both before and after the vote and 90% of the respondents said they did not even know what Ignatieff said. They admitted that Canada's stance on Israel had an influence on how many of them voted. Of course it doesn't help as well that Canada is in a squabble (that we lost) with the United Arab Emerites. Pissing off the Arabs has the same effect as killing their support. It wouldn't have worked out anyway for Harper. With his record on ignoring human rights, his refusal to abide by Parliamentary supremacy and his self-serving manipulation of democratic process here at home is enough to tell anyone that he is an unreliable and untrustworthy candidate to judge others. -
He's running in Vaughn (Woodbridge) where he has lots of friends.

I view them as society's misfits - programmed to kill on command and thoughtlessly following other misfits into delusional battle. I mean most the exercises revolve around how you can take advantage of and kill the enemy most efficiently without high casualties. They are trained to shoot to kill, aim to cause the most damage, and to not think of the consequences. If you want proof that my point of view has merit, just visit the Royal Military College in Kingston to watch any sporting event. Not only do the players - who are training to become officers - act like a bunch of meat heads, but their fans in the stands make Bozo the Clown look likehe has potential as a Colonel. Plus with all the disgrace that has been taking place - murders, the harbouring of rapists and sadists, the child molesters and wife beaters (and these are only been reported out of Trenton in the last year) - Canada's military is a joke, and an international embarrassment.

Mackay Cancells Imam's Speech due to "Extremism"

Go to school fool. A belief in justice is not a religion. That does not compare to the hundreds of millions killed by Christians. -

Marxism is a political ideology, not a religion. But if you want a related religious ideology that went along with Marxism then that would be atheism. However, the Christians killed far more people than any other religion in history. -

Not to a true atheist they aren't. I mean showing favourtism is a strong indication that DoP might believe in ~something~ of one religion over the other. Otherwise there is no distinction in disdain. -

Funny you favour slagging the Muslims more than the Christians. Does that mean you are biased towards a religion you are more familiar with? -

There is nothing more medieval and cultist than Christianity. So perhaps while you are slagging one religion you might just as well slag all of them. BTW there were more people put to death under Christianity through the ages than any other religion in the history of the world. Hell, the whole movement started with a murder. -
PS unions vs Treasurt Board tactics
charter.rights replied to Topaz's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
But don't forget perquisites for being bilingual, being a visible minority, and the requirement to live in Ottawa or other major centre among "Liberals". Heck that disqualifies 90% of the Canadians before they even get an interview. -
PS unions vs Treasurt Board tactics
charter.rights replied to Topaz's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
There are few that meet the minimum requirements, the bilingualism, the minority profile or the ability to dumb down enough to work for managers with half the intelligence of a bale of straw. Plus there are few Canadians willing to lower themselves to compete with immigrants and 1st generations for entry level jobs. Most think they deserve better. So a strike would cause a lot of problems. The public service workers are the only ones smart and numb enough to work those jobs.... -
Funding for religious schools

What you simply miss WB is that Catholic churches were also the schools at that time and if schools were to be funded publicly then the Catholic schools were 1st in line. -
Funding for religious schools
charter.rights replied to PIK's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Nope. It came about as a result of the Treaty of Paris 1763 where in return for surrender by France, the British guaranteed that the Catholics could continue to keep their religion. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treaty_of_Paris_%281763%29 -
