Has any PM ever had a dinner for an opposing runner up? Who are you quoting when you say the slogan , no we can`t? I have no recollection of our present PM saying that any such thing! I look forward to your reply.

I think they will have a fine relationship. The left thinks that Obama is theirs. I think they will be disappointed. He is a common sence guy from all indications so far. The left in Canada starts to stumble about when for so long have critisized Harper for ending his speechs with God Bless Canada! Oh the horror they cried! We are a seculer country. Don`t force your God upon us!Now they have an American President that they believe is theirs who quotes scripture and says God Bless America. Obama attends church and Harper very seldom. What do leftys say now? Hmmm

His incarceration should be blamed on his western hating parents. My kids were taught to think for themselves and by 14 had a good grasp of right and wrong. Sharkman ,I have to correct you. He is not a POW. He was or is a terrorists. POW`s are soldiers who fought for their country and wore a uniform. If he was a POW he could not be tried as murder`. He represented no country.He wore no uniform. He was fighting allied troops and should be tried as a traitor to Canada. That could have been a fellow Canadian that he is alleged to have killed.

I will give it a stab as I see it. I believe that conservatism is the best ideal for man to overcome servitude of the spirit. The way to be the best you can be. To understand that you have certain rights ,but that with those rights one must also accept responsibilities for ones actions. To have a heart and be willing to help those who CANNOT help themselves. That instead of looking to government first to over come an issue we look to our selves. Volunteerism ,with service clubs with in our communities. Thats how we used to get things done. That we strive to not be a burden on our fellow man. To be patriotic to our country. Although we all deplore war,that we understand that mans failure , and that we may in counter those who would wish to take way our freedoms,because of fear religion or ideology. We enjoy the freedoms we have because other men stood and sacraficed to give us the rights we enjoy. We must not drop the torch or fail them. That I should have the right to my property intellectually and things that I have accumulated over a lifetime. These are some of the reasons I am a conservative person. Not as some would brand me,an uncaring person. But one who wants to leave a world better than I found it. By the way ,please forgive grammar and spelling mistakes. I never received a grade school education.We were too poor to have a strong back wiling away in a class room when they could be out contributing to the familys welfare. Best I have for you for now. Heaven forbid! Never in history has one man inspired so many people around the world and I think that is a good thing. But I also think the bar has been set to high for him and many will be disappointed . Many will be disappointed that he did wake up in the morning addressing their country. He will after all be thinking first and for most of the American people. I wish him God speed and hope he is kept safe.

Iggy is to smart a guy to form a coalition government with Layton and Duceppe. It would not last six months and they would be at each others throats. Iggy wants to be around for a long time. He will support the government. He knows he has three roads. Bring down the government and form a coalition, Bring down the government and have an unwanted election, or be a statesman and support the government of the day with the art of compromise.

President Obama is making his first state visit to Canada! Why? Because he knows where his countries interest are. We are his countries main trading partner and military ally outside of Britian. We are hooked economically also. Although the left will have a breakdown over this ,we have so much in common culturally too! We share a common border and Harper and Iggy will show well for us ! I just hope Jack Layton and his crew are on their best behaviour.I think Obama and Harper will hit it off famously.

Look ,this coalition was a stupid thing for the Liberals to get involved in . Iggy read the pols and said lets get the heck out of here. He is smarter than Dion you know! But I remember the press conferences and all the talking heads from the coalition who were rock solid on the coalition with Jennings leading the charge . Iggy saved the Liberals from themselves. The talking heads have been issued new song books by Iggy. Remember Orwell`s 1984? War is Peace ! we were never at war with Eurasia!LOL

Tory is a nice guy ,but a lousey politician. In the last election all he had to do was make no promises. Just refer to McGuintys ability to make promises and his record of keeping promises. Soon as Tory started talking policy he lost the election. All he had to do was run on the Liberals record of not keeping their promises.

Here is a what if ,that has historical precident behind it. What if the Liberals and conservatives morphed into one Party? They would hold the purse strings and would eliminate any chance of political competion. We would end up with but one party to vote for and if they were in anyway a benevolent Party would give us choice of more than one Party member to vote for. This is much like happened in Hitler`s Germany and Stalin`s Russia. Democracy is a very fragile idea that is not perfect but is better than any alternative ever designed by man. Partys ,if they have the best interest of the people who they claim to serve would not be afraid of competition and that support come from those party members or those within the voting public who feel their donations are being well spent. Government financed Partys will continue to hold power and eliminating any chance of any other party rising to challenge.

If we are not allowed to recognize problems within certain racial groups,how do we address their problems? From strickly a WASP standard? Multiculturism is sometimes a hinderance to solving problems?

You underestimate the good sence of most of the middle Eastern countrys like Egypt,Jordan and others who no longer want to support Palestinian fanatics. They were obvious this time by their silence. Isreal is there to stay and they won`t stand for Hamas terrorizing their citizens. That should be obvious for sane ,leveled headed people. Time for the Palestinians to turf the fanatics and start looking for good and peaceful leadership. Hamas was elected to wipe out Israel and for good and honest governance. All they have brought is death.

So you actually believe that a new party could rise without public money and challenge the status quo? Are you kidding me? Any new Party would have no chance at fighting those who are financed with tax payer funds. I have no problem keeping Corporate and Union and groups being banned from financing political partys. I believe if only individuals of voting age, were allowed to donate up to $1000.00 maximum we would not have all the dirt throwing unseemly advertising that we do. It is only the establishment that benafits from public money. Our democracy is being highjacked with our own tax dollars.

Don`t bet on it! This group of fanatics Hamas,will start up again as soon as they get their human shieds back in order. The noisey leftist through out the world condemned Israel for defending itself and so has encouraged the Hamas thugs. When they do start kicking the shins of Isreal once again the trade unions, the gay rights and the marxist lenists will march once more.

I believe you are in agreement then with my post earlier. This party welfare is very undemocratic. They make it impossible for a new party to rise and challenge the status quo. I enjoyed my time raising money and organizing for the Reform Party. I ,a truely conservative gent in his later years became a rebel with a cause. We could never have done what we did under todays financing of established Partys.

As long as we the people are forced to pay for established political partys ,that means we can never have new partys emerge with new ideas. Never again will a CCF,NDP or Reform Party come out of nowhere to shake up the establishment. We are destroying our own empowerment. What happens if we do get coalition governments that will leave us but one party left standing. What would you call it? The Communist Party? No to using tax payers money for established partys!

I hope that for all those Americans who believe that Obama will bring change,but what change we don`t really know ,but change it will be, I hope that they are not left disappointed. I wish my nieghbours good luck! I think down deep Obama is a decent individual and an inspiration to be sure of the nation. But for the life of me I do not understand why his inaugeration is being taught in Canadian school? Did these teachers spend time on our leadership of Harper,Martin, Chretien? Did they educate our kids about home grown politics and leadership? Or are we witnessing a reverse racism? Obama has given hope to parents of Black children. No doubt about it! I am glad for that and hope that where an inferiority complex has been prevalent that he inspires young people to forsake gangs for education, decency and the importance of family. But he is not a god. He is but a man who has risen to the top job of his nation. Not mine or my children or my country.

Wait just a darn moment here! It was the liberals when in power that said these deserters would not be given sanctuary. There are things that are truthful that you can blame Harper for but this is not one of them. Try to stay truthful if are to be taken seriously or at least say you were mistaken..

I think the pilots experience as a fighter pilot and on gliders might have made some difference.

All war is a failure ,but tyrants must be dealt with who wish to harm us or impose religious,or slavery or their ideology upon us. There is a time to fight the good fight so that our children will have the freedom that we have enjoyed..

I have no problem with religion or non religion advertising. Who cares. Atheists like religion is in the eye of the beholder. Fair is fair!

Come on! Some of these folks put themselves in this position. The kid who does not want to follow the rules of his parents household! The guy who ruins his life with booze or drugs! The mentally ill. Of course there are the guys who are just plain lazy bums! Stop trying to blame society. I was brought up dirt poor and I never achieved an education past grade six,but that never gave me an excuse to become a bum or a drunk. I educated myself and married encouragement. I own my own business and love life to the fullest. Now people say I am lucky! No luck about it! Just hard work.
