Kinda like how Canada is really a defacto one party system. Perhaps if the Liberal party of Alberta changed their name here. I think people have a real aversion to voteing for anyone under that banner. I do think that people whereever they are will run for the party that will win. I think many liberals have run provincially as PC's. I'm hoping the Alberta Alliance will make some headway this election and get the Alberta Agenda front and center.

Why Does the Left Lack So Much Class
I miss Reagan replied to I miss Reagan's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Regarding Iraq well your argument breaks down pretty quick when you bring Tony Blair and other leftist leaders into the equation who supported the war. Besides I don't really see how the Patriot Act or a few naked terrorists in prison have to do with the lack of class endemic among liberal protestors. I read that 1000 were arrested yesterday in NYC. Game, Set, Match? How old are you? -
Why Does the Left Lack So Much Class

Willy you're too nice. This is the reason Conservatives in Canada lose elections, they don't play dirty like the liberals. As for generalizing etc., it seems to me that the violence and civil disobedience seems to be more prevelant among the left. When the Conservatives held a pro-US rally a while back in Calgary they rented a private venue. They didn't block traffic, chant hate slogans, burn flags, or beat people up. Two guys showed up one with a t-shirt with and upside down US flag on it that said "f**k the US". Then they proceeded to the podium and started yelling and ranting and raving. When they refused to leave they had to be carried out all the while yelling about their right to freedom of speech. They same sorts of incidents have been occuring at the RNC this week. Similar people getting in to the convention and yelling at delegates or in one case Dick Cheney. Contrast this kind of thing to the DNC last month. You didn't see these kinds of acts perpetrated by Republicans. -

Ya the odd nutcase is around, I don't deny that, however most of us on the right vehemently denounce it and people like John Ashcroft prosecute them to the full extent of the law. This as opposed to condoneing the civil disobedience of hundreds of thousands of libs. Huh?? I don't think that's the case but if it is at least they're consistent. We don't appease and coddle violent radical Islam while at the same time slander and belittle those who want to keep "In God We Trust" on the dollar bill. I know you on the left want to portray it as an issue about sex but it actually has more to do with him lying under oath. Huh? McCain is a Republican. -
I turned on the CNN this morning to here news of what we all knew would happen, and will happen more this week, violence among "peace" protestors. Apparently a group of hippies grabbed an undercover police officer and beat the hell out of him. Why is it always that these same people who so adamantly decry violence so often use violence to get their messages across? Not only that but they chant hate slurs and parade around burning effigies of the President. They beat on Djembe drums and beat up those who disagree with their "free speech". Two years ago I was assaulted by a group of these so called "peace" activists myself. Because I merely held an American flag I was pulled to the ground and beat, spit upon, and yelled at. A group of anarchists wrote words on the sidewalk like 'fascist' and 'nazi'. I managed to get away from the group but it was a good lesson in the kind of 'tolerance' that the left loves to preach about. Apparently the same sort of thing transcends borders as protesters are hassling and assaulting republicans attending the convention. Not surprisingly Michael Moore was there last night holding a sign that said "loser". Will the left ever get a little class.

GOP only talks about 9/11
I miss Reagan replied to Bushmustgo's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Interestingly it was Clinton's lax attitude on terrorism that got us into this mess in the first place. Nevertheless, my wife has registered and will be voteing for Bush. Last night two American friends came over and we got them registered so they can vote for Bush. Yes it will be a close election, but Bush will take it. -
Canadian Diplomacy In Action

Cartman I like the balance you bring to the discussion. I think you're right that many Canadians dislike Republicans. Considering that 70% of Canada is liberal or left it would make sense. However I still believe that there is serious anti-Americanism among Canadians that goes beyond harmless rivelry or the usual jealousy that Canadians harbour. There are those of us, however, who miss the days when Reagan and Mulroney keep our countries close. -
He came out against them because they stopped, that's interesting logic. Let's see some real proof of your outlandish claims that Bush is responsible for the SBVT rather than friend of a friend BS. Yes the Bush family and their ties to everyone evil in the world. Them and the Corleones eh? Ya good point, since we're talking about honesty in politics and you seem to think Kerry and the Dems are rosey let's talk about your lawyer type of honesty: "I never had sexual relations with that woman"

Canadian Diplomacy In Action
I miss Reagan replied to I miss Reagan's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Canadians are very anti-american. Yes I know we like to think of ourselves as 'tolerant' but the truth is Canadians are selectively tolerant. Tolerant as long as we agree with what they say. The fact that 40% of teenage Canadians (a group apathetic to politics) think Americans are "evil" is proof enough for me. The fact that, as MS stated, 28,000 people showed their support for Parrish by relecting her. The claim that "no I like Americans, just not American policy" or "Bush". Before Bush is was Reagan. Well guess who voted these guys in to form American policy? Americans. Quit trying to fool yourselves into thinking you're this objective and tolerant people. You're anti-American -
Sorry to bore you. Feel free to flee and take the condescention to another forum. Ahem. Where do I begin? You know that's a foolish challenge. Are you going to back up the claims the Bush was himself responsible for the 911 attacks and actually orchestrated them, that Bush never served in the National Guard, that his "daddy" got him into college, that he recieved failing grades from Harvard ... on and on we can go. You could also check out the book Michael Moore is a Big Fat Stupid White Man if you'd like to debunk any other lies you on the left love to believe so much. Or for a litany of credible people bringing to light the lies of Michael Moore go toMoore Lies BTW I consider the fact that Moore was invited to sit beside Jimmy Carter during the DNC to be viewed on national television, a pretty good indicator that those high up have ties to Moore and like what he's saying. Not really, politicians are renowned for changing their minds (however Kerry takes the cake but that's for another day). My contention was the hypocrisy in Kerry for saying that military records shouldn't be an issue than goes after Bush for it then blames Bush for an unaffiliated group for questioning his own record. So the point, once again, is that Kerry can support those 527 groups and even throw the mud with the best of them but he cries like a baby when the mud comes flying back. As an interesting sidenote ABC news reported tonight that 527 groups for Kerry outnumber Bush groups 14-1

You're probably right. And Canadians would also agree with all the other insults Parrish throws at Americans. And the reasons are obvious. Canadians, such as yourself, are taught to hate Americans through our media and education system. It's shameful. But what do you expect from the most anti-American non-muslim country in the world. -
Legislator calls US 'Idiots' Is there any question as to why the border is still closed to beef. Unfortunately the US cares so little about us to do any real damage.
-
Ah there it is, the leftist double standard. I knew it'd get here sooner or later. But Kerry's record of 20% attendence on the Senate intelligence comittee is irrelevant right? Or his support of going to war... but not funding the troops right. And his service record in the military. Ya you're right he should just get a free pass to be president.
-
LOL, they don't need to. That's great, a friend of a friend's cousin knows Bush. At least it isn't the blatent hypocrisy that Kerry shows by his support for slanderous organisations like moveon.org or his fundraisers that a Bush slamfests. Kerry himself bashes Bush's military services record but when the tables are turned he whines and threatens litigation. It is his campaign which had it's lawyers try to bully radio stations for airing Swift Boat ads. A liberal's version of free speech once again. That's great! Kerry just yesterday told Bob Dole on the phone "we'll he [bush] started it".
-
Oh really how's that? Kerry tried to get a deferment but was unsuccessful and ended up going to Vietnam. Then he throws away his medals... no he throws away his "ribbons"... no he throws away someone elses medals for them. lol. Medals he earned by superficial wounds from the fireing of his own weapons. He gets a free ride out of there, "while the middle class [are] fighting and dying." Then he publically accuses those same middle class soldiers of atrocities "remenicent of Ghengis Khan" while they are still there fighting. Not only this but he admits himself to being part of war crimes and atrocities. No, this doesn't play well in many states. But still it is Bush who has taken the higher road and condemned the smear campaigns on both sides. Kerry, like so many on the left, started the mud slinging but he can't take it when it comes back to haunt him.
-
Come on, when you defend the credibility of Michael Moore and F911 you lose credibility yourself. Anyhow, perhaps the Swift Boat guys are fighting Kerry the same way he is fighting Bush, by misrepresenting the truth. It is utterly outrageous that Kerry would call for Bush to condemn the ads when Kerry has gone along with the hate campaign against Bush for so long. Most notably obvious are his own fundraisers by the hollywood elite. I personally think there is something to the swift boat guys' claims. Kerry was the one who decided to portray himself as a Vietnam war hero. These 250 guys are just telling their side of the story about a guy who threw out his medals and bad mouthed his fellow soldiers. Interestingly Bush has maintained the higher ground. Bush condemns ads
-
Recently the group known as Swift Boat Veterans for Truth has released a book calling Kerry on discrepancies in his version of military service. Kerry has since called it a front for the Bush campaign doing it's "dirty work" for them and has called upon Bush to condemn ads put out by the vets. Interestingly Bush has praised Kerry's military service in Vietnam. What I find hypocritical, and so typically liberal, is that Kerry has never once condemned the venom spewers like Michael Moore or the Hollywood left who constantly slander Bush.
